To me, if it's spelled ZacHary, the shortened form is logically ZacH.

I am all about logic but....if that were the case then the short version of Nicholas would be Nich, not Nick!

Just to throw another option out there, the guy from the Travel Channel show, Ghost Adventures, name is Zak.

Hi I have A Zachary also. As another poster said we spelled it Zack but it was confusing in kindergarden learning to write his name with Zachary or Zack. He went with Zack until he was in 5th grade and he wanted to drop the K I told him it was his name his choice. So he goes by Zac, I like it better, wonder why I didn't think of it to begin with:)

I also have a Zachary and we spell it Zach. I've been on these boards almost 9 years, so I think it's funny when posters say they've never seen it spelled "Zach"! We know more Zachs and Zacs than Zacks, I actually I don't know any spelled with a k.

I think it must be regional, because I've never seen a Zach. I live on the West coast and it's all Zacks and Zacs where I live.

Look at my screen name, like I said, I've been on the boards for almost 9 years with "Zach" clearly spelled out. :goodvibes

My DS is Zachary... Zach for short. And regardless of how many times I tell my MIL, she still insists on Zack... Also being a Saved by the Bell fan, I wanted it to be different that Zack and Kelly... I truly think it's a regional thing... and a 90s child thing!!!

DBF is Zachary-- ZacH for short. I personally love this-- I think it just looks nicer than the k-spelling.
Congratulations on your upcoming birth!!

The only Zachary I know is Zak. And I have read the name Zachary so many times in this thread it looks totally foreign to me now hah.

My daughter's college friend spells his nickname Xak, although his real name is Zachary.

I think you should go with Zac or Zach, but he is YOUR son, so whichever spelling you find flows the best or looks the best is the one you should choose. I'm sure any spelling will be great :)

If I were to shorten it, I would make it Zac. But, I prefer to not give nicknames and would call him Zachery.

I don't think either look weird or wrong but I like Zack if it's not a nickname for Zachary or Zachariah.

If the full name is one of the above, or anything alike, then I like Zach.

I chose this because that is what DGS uses. DD decided it was best, I believe, because it would be easiest to remember for spelling, if that makes sense. She figured shortening his name made more sense by just cutting off some of the letters which, I suppose, makes sense.

I picked the "ch" because that is how you are going to spell his full first name.

Here is an example, my nephew is named Mathew-spelled like this, so they call him Mat and spell it with one t.
