www.missingmoney.com
About a month ago, on our local news channel, they did a story on how there are millions of US dollars that have gone unclaimed and they listed this website for you to check and see if you have any unclaimed property.
I checked it out, even though my boyfriend, and my relatives laughed at me. Unfortunately, Michigan is not a participating state in that specific program. But, the site gave me a link to the Michigan Department of Treasury website to do a local search instead. So....my curiosity took over and I clicked on the link to the michigan.gov website...followed instructions and entered my name in the box provided...
...low and behold, it came up with something! It didn't say what it was or how much money was there but it was my name, and the city that was listed is where I grew up...so...I filled out the inquiry form and sent it out...
...this was about 6 weeks ago....I just got back from WDW at 1:00am this morning. When I went to the mailbox to check my mail for the past few days, I see an envelope from Michigan Department of Treasury...
...it's a check (legitimate too!) for $185.38!!!! Apparently, my parents had opened an account at a bank when I was very young and never closed it out when the bank merged with another one...so, now I have almost $200 saved for my next WDW trip next year. What a welcomehome gift!!
Anyway, check out the site.....I' m living proof that you don't have anything to lose!
