Hello and welcome to my very first PTR! :goodvibes

I will start with introductions:
This is me – Kelley, and my DH – Mike.

We are college sweethearts (GO Hokies!) and have been happily married for 7 years.

These are our sweet twin boys. Jackson and Ryan.

This picture was taken on Mother’s Day when the boys and I participated in the March of Dimes March for Babies to raise money and awareness for babies born premature. That is a cause very close to my heart because my boys were preemies, born at only 30 weeks. Scariest day of my life! Ryan was 3lbs 10oz, and Jackson was 3lbs 6oz. Let me tell you, those were TINY babies - but now, they are healthy, happy, wild 2 year olds! And I can’t help myself, I totally spoil them.:lovestruc

I have been trying to wait patiently to take them to WDW, and Mike and I had a debate about the proper age to take them. He wanted to wait until they were 5. I wanted to take them at 3. We can see who won that… :rotfl:
So onward with the PTR.
:)

Originally Mike and I agreed that we should go when the boys were 3.5 years old. So, I booked a trip April 30-May 4, 2012. But then when airfare was released for those dates, it was so darn expensive! So we were going to drive to WDW. Now, I know many families very successfully make the drive, and it couldn’t possibly have been as bad as I was picturing- but we were looking at a 16 hour drive vs a 2 hour flight. I wanted to spend the extra money to fly, and Mike (being much more practical than I am) was trying to save some money. So, I began playing around with dates. I priced out a trip for early Feb 2012, and then early December 2011, and the airfare was more reasonable – but still over our agreed upon budget. Then the idea light bulb popped up--- I know how to save some money!! We go BEFORE the boys turn 3!! Then the money that would have been used on park hoppers for them pays for airfare. Genius! So, I hopped on the phone with Disney and bumped our reservation up to Oct 13-17, 2011!

Now these new dates are going to be so much more special. October 13th is the day that Mike and I began dating, sophomore year of college. So our first day in WDW will be our 10 year couple anniversary! I can hardly believe we’ve already been together for an entire decade! Then October 17th, our last day at WDW, is the boys’ 3rd birthday! What a way to celebrate huh? See, I told you I spoil them!! :goodvibes

I have been totally obsessing over this trip. Seriously. Hence the title of my PTR. It’s a quote from Finding Nemo – Crush says it to Marlin after he and Dory took on the jellyfish. Mike thinks I’m a bit nutty for taking on all this crazy detailed planning and our twins, so basically, I’ve got some thrill issues! :thumbsup2

Here are my rough plans so far, broken down by day-

Thurs 10/13: our flight arrives at MCO at 4:09pm. We will take the ME to All Star Movies and get checked in. Then we will attend Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!!

Fri 10/14: DHS day and I have a lunch ADR at the Sci Fi Dine in Theater (that was the one place Mike really wanted to eat at, so of course I booked it immediately since he is being so great about all my changes and obsessing)

Saturday 10/15: Breakfast ADR at Chef Mickey’s, then Animal Kingdom, then hop to Magic Kingdom

Sunday 10/16: Epcot day

Mon 10/17: Ryan and Jackson are 3!!
RD at MK with a breakfast ADR at Crystal Palace. Then in the afternoon, we catch the ME back to the airport, and out flight leaves MCO at 7:30pm.

First! You're plans are really coming along. I'm so jealous you get to go to Disney in two months and I have seven months left to wait :rolleyes1

I'm in! Our neighbor has 4 year old twin boys, so I sort of know what that's like! Can't wait to hear more!

Hi Missy :wave2: You helped me tremendously with my plans! (Missy and I went to high school together and she is the reason that I am on the DISboards! She is the only one who willingly listens to my incessant chatter about Disney!)

Thanks for joining in to my PTR - even though I have already talked your ear off about everything I have posted!

Wow that's amazing that your trip falls right on your anniversary and your sons' birthdays! It's just meant to be! You're going to have an amazing trip :goodvibes

Hello and welcome! :goodvibes Thanks so much for joining in. Thinking up the title was the hardest part for me! You also have a clever title for your TR, which I am going to head over to now!

Aw, thanks! I have to say the title isn't as accurate as when I started, but hey, I'll come up with something even better for our TR! :lmao:

Thanks so much! Yeah, I didn't even remember about the 10 year thing until I started talking out loud to someone about the dates. Then I was like,"There's something going on 10/13... What am I forgetting??" Haha, oops.:rotfl2: And I am BEYOND excited for my boys to wake up AT Disney on their bday.... Oh I am going to take millions of pictures :lmao:

I spent about an hour reading last night, but I am still only 1/2 way through your PTR! But it sounds like it will be an amazing trip, and I discovered that you live right near me in good old VA!

Hi there everyone! :wave2:

Not much new to report on right now, but remember in my plans when I said DH wanted to go to Sci-Fi Dine in, and that was the first one I booked? Well last night we were talking, and he was like "Yeah, I can't wait for that homestyle cooking, and those goofy waiters that pretend to be related to you." OH NO!! He is thinking of the 50's Prime Time Cafe!! :sad2:

So... should I try to change it? Cuz I gotta say, Sci-Fi's milkshakes and fries are gonna go over wayyyy better with Ryan and Jackson... Not to mention that Sci-Fi is less expensive than 50's PTC. I'm a bit torn :confused3

So-- what are your thoughts? Sci-Fi or 50's PTC??

We've eaten at PTC twice and LOVE  it! The food is yummy and we've had good luck getting waiters who are into the whole schtick there.

We're trying Sci-Fi for the first time on this upcoming trip for two reasons: 1. We've never eaten there and 2. Franklin's sister, brother-in-law and nephew are super into cars, so I figured the whole "Eating in a car" thing would be a hit.

That said, I'm not expecting very big things from the food at Sci-Fi, everything I've read says the food is just so-so. Whereas the food at PTC is EXCELLENT! I always get the fried chicken and Franklin has tried a couple of different things (I think he got the pot roast last time) and it was sooooo good. And the milkshakes at PTC are out of this world too!

I don't think you can go wrong with either choice, but if Mike is looking for good food and milkshakes, PTC may be a good choice for you guys :thumbsup2

Hey!! I saw that you had a PTR as well...so of course I had to read along!! What a beautiful family you have! The twins are adorable!!

I am not sure what to do about the lunch ADR..I have to say that 50's does have some great shakes too if that helps...not sure which one is better for kids though :confused3

Plus you are from VA...how could I not follow along?!?

Joining in! First trips are so exciting... and your boys are absolutely adorable!

October is a great time to visit WDW... DH and I have taken our DDs (now 10 and 8) to WDW twice, both during October. We did MNSSHP on our 1st trip and had a blast!

Re: Sci Fi vs. 50sPTC... we've dined at both, and enjoyed both. Of course, my girls liked Sci Fi better. I think the atmosphere of 50sPTC was a little over their heads. I would say your boys would like Sci Fi better because of the cars and experience of eating at a "drive-in", but that's not to say they wouldn't be entertained at 50sPTC. As for the food, I remember liking both places... the ribs at Sci Fi were yummy, as is the fried chicken at 50sPTC. And the PB&J milkshake at 50sPTC is to die for!

Disney recently extended free dining until March '12. Have you thought about taking advantage of that offer? Staying at a Value resort, you would qualify for only the quick service dining plan, which wouldn't include 50's but you can upgrade to the regular dining plan, which is very inexpensive to do, and that would include 50's.

Thanks for your input :) Your food pics from PTC were incredible looking. I think Mike would absolutely LOVE the fried chicken that you had. BUT - I was actually looking at a TR last night where the family went to Sci-Fi. Jackson saw the picture of the kids sitting the car, and he was like, "Can I drive that car at Disney?" Sooooo I am thinking I will probably leave our Sci-Fi ADR so Jack can "drive" the car. Yep- I spoil my boys :lovestruc

Hi! Welcome! Thank you for the compliment about my boys, I am pretty biased, but I think they're adorable too!

And yes, VA is awesome! Your area slightly more so than my area though - not as much traffic in Richmond as there is in Northern VA! :scared1:
