youtube tv

The only show I miss is 911, but I can live without out or catch up when I can.
That show jumped the shark towards the end of last season. Then they went out into space - literally. It's so not the show it used to be. I haven't missed it because of that. Otherwise, I would have been a bit peeved.

Our Youtube TV subscription runs two homes & our laptops for a reasonable price. We're going to try to wait it out. For the time being, we've been subscribing to a Sling TV day pass on game days. Naturally, after paying for that, I just learned that we could probably get the games for free on regular Youtube. I may try that on Friday, if I'm patient enough to wait until the last minute to see if it shows up there. If we do end up having to switch providers, anything Disney related will be our last option. It's the principle of the matter, for me.

So Disney shouldn't be paid for their content? ;)

Does YT allow sharing between households?

It allows you to create different profiles (up to 6 I believe)

If you add the 4k add on thing you can have unlimited streams in your home and then can have 3 streams/devices for out of the home.
I'm guessing the "out of home" is for use while traveling, not to support a 2nd household.

Not saying it's not done, just something I wouldnt brag about. 😅

That’s the intention (e.g. “traveling”), but it works for multiple households as well. The one thing I found is that when “traveling”, you need to come “home” every couple months. When my older son was out of town for an internship for 6 months, at some point, YT TV told him he’d been gone for too long, so I had to log in with his account at home for a few minutes and that reset it.

Like the other poster, we now use it for multiple homes, so it’s a much better deal than doing cable in both locations. DirecTV streaming or Sling probably could do the same thing, we just haven’t tried them yet.

Ain't that the truth??? I heard that they are thinking of having Peter Krause return as Bobby because the show quality has dropped off, but they "killed" the crap outta him last season. I mean, he is DEAD, but they're gonna resurrect him???:scratchin How high can a shark jump?
Have you seen 911 Nashville? It is beyond awful.

Sorry to go OT. Not missing ABC, Hulu has whatever ABC content I want.

We got behind on last season's 9-1-1 while I know Bobby was killed off we haven't gotten to that episode yet, vacations and other things got in the way. Given all the space promos we've seen on tv I don't think we're in a hurry to catch up lol. Largely it'd be catching up via Hulu (or if the library has it) because I long-since deleted those recordings.

I'm glad you mentioned the spin off Nashville as we haven't started watching that yet. The quick promos I've seen make me hesitate to start it. I do have those recording....but you're giving me even more pause. Why is it really bad for you?

Writing dialogue for these procedural shows must be a challenge as a lot of it is terribly weak. There are some actors on 911 with enough talent to minimize the awfulness of dialogue. On 911 Nashville, we aren't afforded the quality of talent as the original. Therefore, not only does the bad writing stand out, the actors come off looking weak. To me, it is laughably bad. Take a look and see if you agree:)

Gotta wonder what figure Disney has in mind from YouTube TV. Must be an amount that makes up for the 4 point something million dollars a day it is supposedly costing ABC.

Sure they deserve to be paid for their content, but there's a limit. From the marketing I've seen, Disney is using this to try to push people toward their streaming services. I'm just not a fan of how they appear to be attempting to create a monopoly.

We have the 4K package, which allows sharing between households. Each home has a different profile & receives local programming. In our case, both of the homes are ours, so it's only used by us. Plus, we spend as much time traveling for DH's job as we do at both homes combined. The 4K package is perfect for our situation.

We're waiting it out and would still likely stick with them even if they just give up on Disney/ABC/ESPN. While we do really enjoy live sports, if you've been monitoring and pricing over the years, you'd know that ESPN has been an issue for ages and is well known for being grossly overpriced. In recent years, I was even paying for ESPN+ during softball season, but they can't even get that right and even the app is always pathetically glitchy. I know their new elevated service is supposedly even more of a rip off. It's kind of like visiting the parks...at some point you have to admit that while you like it, the quality of the product doesn't measure up to the exorbitant price tag. It's funny but the only thing I've kind of missed is our local news station with our favorite weather people. Thankfully, I can get enough of their content through Facebook and the website (at least for now) that I'd be better off investing in an antenna vs. switching to a provider willing to cave to Disney's poor pricing models.
