"You're going to Disney AGAIN??"

We've been getting the rolling eyes and "Disney again" for years now.
It's there loss for those that don't like it as much.

DH and I are going Friday for 30th wedding anniversary, can't wait!!
He's like a big kid there!

Congrats on your 30th!

We celebrated our 30th this year at Aulani and Disneyland (first time to those destinations). Now we are just more hooked on Disney!

Have a wonderful trip!

Congratulations to both of you!! My DW and I celebrated our 10th this year at WDW and are going again in January (just the two of us). It will be our third trip in three years and our first without our DS (10 and 5) so we are really looking forward to it.

She doesn't have the bug as bad as I do and doesn't really understand my 'need' for this escape (I work 70-80 hours a week on call 24-7 and have conditions that lead to constant anxiety and insomnia).

The World is the ONLY place I have found that allows me to truly leave reality behind for a brief moment in time and just enjoy the company of my loved ones.

I was actually shocked when my best buddy of many years (he is truly like a brother to me) recently asked if I thought it would be weird if the two of us went together, just the guys. My DW thinks its weird but I thought why not? We could road trip it down and spend the week at Boardwalk or Pop Century (we're 80s/90s kids, so we both think the theming there is awesome, sad I know). We are both mid 30s and yes, male, but I think we'd have an awesome time. Is that weird? I told her Id have no problem with her going to Vegas again without me and found that much weirder.

:thumbsup2

I live in Miami and most of the people I know are Disney AP holders, so they go a lot. I don't have to deal with very many questions about "omg, you're going AGAIN?!", because most people here are going every other month too. Way more than even I go, lol.

When I meet people who didn't grow up in Florida, though, thats when I get the questions. They just don't get it. And they don't have to, I guess.

Ain't anybody's business how I spend my time or my money, so whatever. :)

My husband and I are headed back to Disney in February. We were talked out of going one year by friends who said try south beach with us, a grown up vacation, ect. Worst vacation for us ever. I used to try and explain, people are happy and I can go on rides despite my disabilities. Epcot is like traveling the world. But I reached the point that I no longer feel the need to draw them to the magic, I just need to have it to ease my soul. Fibro is closing my world in, but not at Disney!

What gets me, when I enter these conversations, most people who question me about a return trip fall into one of these groups 1) never been 2)went, didn't really plan at all AKA going in the summer or 3)were set on having a bad time so they did(even if they found a pot a gold) 4) it has to be expensive or waste of money 5) Parkhounded as a child 6) have a hard thinking mice, fairies, castles or drinking your way around world while partaking in botany observation or saving the world for Sith are adult appropriate.

I get a mix of these folks, as I am pretty open about my Disney addiction. How often is somebody willing to bust out an excel sheet and plan your trip for you. What most people can't comprehend is how big the wdw complex is. They think it can be done in one trip. HAHA:rotfl2:

I had a buddy call disney about 60 days out and basically said hook me up to the disney travel consultant, to the tune of like $6-7K for him, wife and two kids. Dude, what are you thinking??? Oh yeah went during spring break, after being advised not.. Got no prime fast passes or ressies. Want to guess what his thoughts were????? :laundy:

Sure can us disney folk be extreme, maybe odd or different? Sure. I accept my own kind, just like I accept those fans who buy season tickets for Saturday college games, or paint their faces for Sunday games. How about the gal that spend $1000 for 1 world series ticket for her and another $1000 for husband. Oh yah did I mention how far from the field they were? :lmao:

Nevermind the people who say disney is expensive and have a Coach bag hanging off their arm or Rolex on the wrist. And those who have never been... well I will save that for another day.

This is a bit off topic but I'll ask it anyway. Am I the only one who doesn't plan when he goes to Disney? My last 3 trips were solo. I just went in October to run the ToT runDisney race. The only thing I planned was a FastPass for Fantasmic only because I could and it is my only must do when I go. I wanted to try out the process but I knew I would have made it into the show if I hadn't done it. Everything else I just go with the flow. And, I didn't wait more than 20 minutes for any ride I went on which included: Rockin Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, Fast Track, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, and Expedition Everest to name the most popular.

I do realize being solo makes it easier but I was just smart about when to go on those rides to avoid the lines.

Having said that, I already want to go back. It's been a month and I miss it already. :confused3

17-year-old Addict here. Between Disney and Theater, I'd say I'm out of the "social norm" for hobbies people my age enjoy. I do enjoy social situations like parties even if I can't talk about Disney/Musicals, and I'm fairly comfortable having only a small group of friends who share similar interests. You just gotta push through the negative people and have a good time at WDW on your own ;)

Telling people I've seen Newsies on Broadway 8 times usually gets me a bunch of stares.

People typically think of WDW as a place to go with kids, and because I don't have any kids people don't understand why I keep going back. To me, it's obvious: there's something for everyone, and there's always something new.

Personally, I don't let it bother me. I like what I like, and I know there's a whole community of people who love Disney as much as I do, so I refuse to believe that my favorite hobby is "weird."

I don't tell my friends and relatives (except for my husband and kids who I need to figure out with the best time for Mom's mental health trips) when I'm going anymore.

They have no idea how many times I've been solo. I got tired of hearing them wonder why I'm going again so I stopped telling them. Same with my old co-workers - all they knew was I was going on vacation.

I think I'm addicted to Disney!
