Your worst moment at a Disney park?

This was a long time ago. My younger sister was four (she's fifteen now), so I was ten. My dad used to carry her around on his shoulders, but he managed to get insane sunburn. My mother and my grandmother were at the Disney Institute (yes, we're going back /that/ far guys), and it was going to be a father-daughter day in the Magic Kingdom.

Well we hopped on the monorail to go over there and my sister threw a hissy-fit right at the entrance to the park because my father wouldn't put her up on his shoulders to carry her around. She threw such a big fit that we got right back on the monorail and went back to the hotel for the day.

I was not pleased.

That was the last time we went for about six years.

Just adding to the sickness stories..

When I was 7 we were staying at the Boardwalk and I just happened to get really sick. We went back to the room, and I remember my mother got a doctor to come up to the room. Well I was adamant that I was not sick since I wanted to go into the parks and not stay in the room that I totally hid from the doctor. No one could find me for a long time (prob 10 mins) since I was hiding under the bed :thumbsup2

Anyways, fast forward to August 2006 on a quick 4 day trip.. I end up missing 2 of the 4 days because I either got sun poisoning or a stomach virus. At least we were staying in the GF while I puked my brains out.

Replying before I read the entire thread....

So the very first time I went to Disney World, I was 12 and went with my band in 1991. We marched in the parade. We're from PA where we usually perform in the fall, so our uniforms were very warm. Because it was so hot, most of us just wore our undies under our uniforms for the parade.

So we marched the parade and get back to change, and it turned out the moisture I felt was not just sweat. Not only did mother nature show up while I was marching, but it was my very first period ever.

So that's my worst moment. A close second is the first trip I took with my three kids in 2009. After a particularly bad morning with crabby kids, crabby parents, hotness, rain, stickiness, I had a mommy meltdown and walked away, leaving the kids with dad. I told him I was going to try to get a flight home. LOL.

For me, it was being caught in a sea of MVMCP goers who were willing to fall over the top of my DS in a stroller to get where they wanted to go *NOW*. It scared the snot out of me to realize that even without a panic, someone could get trampled and heaven help us if something or someone caused a stampede! I found the quickest way out of what had been a relatively quiet walkway just moments before and waited it out. I think it spoiled me on the whole "party" thing, as we have not been back.

The next thing I know is there is a georgeous hunk of young man standing at the bedroom door with a little bandaid in his hand. I swear I could hear porn music playing and I sat there all spraddle legged. When I finally come to my senses I just look at him and that little bandaid and say, that's not gonna do it. He sees my thighs, turns red and says no and I swear, ran, out of the room!

OMG. I'm sorry you must have been in so much pain, but the description of the porn hunk with the band aid had me :rotfl::rotfl:

Compared to things that happened to us at other places, our "bad" times at WDW are still "good" to us.
I do remember being sick as a dog when we were staying at BWI. We had been upgraded to the Concierge level and I should have been thrilled, but since I spent 3 days within arm's reach of a box of tissue and a trash can, I might as well have been at a Motel 6.
Same trip, still sick, after days of sleepless nights and a nice little cocktail of over-the-counter drugs, we were now at POP for our last night and I woke up in the middle of the night because I was sure the room was haunted. Kept seeing things moving and lights coming on and off, which the next morning I realized were coming from the parking lot. :)
Ended up going to sleep with my mom in her bed... I was 29.

I have 3 moments that were the worst at WDW!

June 2008 - Animal Kingdom - Way too Hot and tired! The emotional breakdown with the kids and adults. We hit the pool that day!

June 2009 - Animal Kingdom - It's tough to be a bug! We were waiting for the show to start and they kept crammin people in there, it was so hot and by the time they opened the doors people started to shove. I had to put our 8 year old daughter on my husbands back because people were pushing so hard behind me she was trapped between my body and my husbands back end. She started screaming!! I lost my cool and shoved my hand over her mouth and held it there. The young teenage girl next to goes oh!! when she seen my do it. I wanted to yell, mind your own business!!

Note: We do not go to see It's tough to be a bug anymore and we will only spend time in Animal kingdom when it is cool now!

June 2010 - I caught the intestinal flu! Spend 3 days at Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani watching the animals from the bed, fever and all! While my family enjoyed the parks!!!

:goodvibes

But the worst moment!!!

June 2006 (our first trip and we learned not to keep our children at the park all day in hot weather after this!!) our then 4 year old daughter having a complete meltdown on Mainstreet after Wishes!! She was tired and wanted a toy really bad!! I told her no bad mistake! I told her yes from that moment on just to avoid the fall out! She screamed, cried, scratched, yelled, and scared several childless couples to never have children in their lifetime. Disney security kept watching us! It was horrible, we did not have a car because we were using Disney Transportation it was so crowded!! I was so embarrassed, finally I tagged her behind in the bathroom next to the Emporium and the Firehouse!! Now when we pass it, I say yup, you got spanked in there!!

:goodvibes

I hate to have to be confrontational on vacation so that was a bad experience: Last July there was a mega-group from a country with white, green, and I think red their flag....and their rude, loud, aggressive behaviour :crazy2:actually STOPPED the Barbershop Quartet on Main Street in MK who were beautifully serenading a group of us. A gracious senior couple and I immediately found the "leader" and told (not asked this time) them they'd better move on, that this was absolutely unacceptable:sad2: We couldn't believe it!! Horrible Horrible behaviours.

So far I've only been one time to WDW and my worst moment doesnt even have to do with Disney per say but the trip down there.

We had a flight schedule that would get us into our resort just in time for dinner with ~maybe~ a jaunt into the MK for some rides and fire works.

Well apparently there was bad weather in NJ and Continental wasnt going to be able to get us out of Syracuse (the Rep from the check in desk came to me and said I wasn't going to make my cruise:confused3: We wern't going on a cruise!) so they switched us to Delta out of Syracuse to Ohio. Well we landed in OH and THEY had rain and lightning and that flight was delayed as well. I had to keep calling the reservation line to push back our ADR at WCC till the LAST possible slot as well as DME to let them know what was going on. Finally the weather let's up and we get in the air. We arrived @ MCO at around 9pm but we had to wait for other's to get on the bus...didnt' get to the WL until way after 10pm and WCC was closed (I felt like a butt because I didnt get to call and cancel). I told bell services that I didnt care how late it was just to bring up the luggage and my DSis and I took the girls to the pool for a late night dip.

Long story short, we didnt get our luggage until 7:30am as Delta didnt hand it off to DME and it was just SITTING at their counter. I didnt have my glasses or additional contact lense solution either but the CM's at the front desk went into the gift shop and gave me a bottle to use so I could lean my lenses, they were also going to get an outfit for DD #3 to wear as her other outfits (even the 2 extra's) were dirty from the plane ride down. The day manager sent the guy from Bell Services to MCO and they delivered the luggage to our room and gave us a voucher to make our morning ADR @ O'hana (which they didnt have to do).

2009

While staying at PORS, I left with the DK's to get breakfast. My DW and DM stayed behind to get ready for another fun filled day. By the time I got back, there was an assorted group of emergency vehicles (fire, sheriff, and EMS) parked throughout the parking lot. A polite-but-stern CM asked if I was a guest in that building and instructed us to go directly to our room. A second CM posted on the walkway escorted us to our room and asked us to remain inside for the next few minutes. We could easily hear several people crying and in great distress.

As it turned out, a teenage boy had died in his sleep. His family woke up to find that he had passed. We overheard at the pool that the young man had a terminal illness and the family trip to WDW was like a "make-a-wish" kind of visit. By lunch time, the resort staff had cleared the room and we actually saw another family moving in.... completely oblivious (thankfully so) to what had happened earlier in the day.

I work in emergency services and was VERY impressed with the CM attitude and actions. They took every possible step to protect the grieving family and keep my family from loosing the "Magic". Several of my co-instructors have commented on how neat it would be to study WDW's contingency plans. Sometimes we jokingly use the phrase WWDW "What would Disney do?" in ___________________ situation.

hm. when DD was three, she had an allergic reaction to the sunscreen i used on her. i feel badly because it took awhile before we figured out WHAT was making her eyes red and itchy. we have several pictures where her face is red and she's trying to rub her eyes. :(

then, when DS was two, he was stung by a bee on his eyelid at AK. there wasn't much First Aid could do for him. we tried to get him calmed down, but his mood was (justifiably) pretty lousy. i ended up missing the Nemo show because i had to stroll him around.

but really, those are such minor things. and we didn't let them ruin our trip. :)

I have 3 moments I can recall that were our worst....

September 2007--on the very first trip with my daughter and husband, I packed super light and only had 2 bras in the suitcase. I intended on washing one each day and hanging to dry while I wore the other. Anywho, on the first day I picked up my 3 year old and felt a fast SNAP! My front closure bra component completely broke open and there I was with holding it together with my hand. I ran to the bathroom and the only thing I could do was put a paperclip thru the two ends and get poked in the chest all day. I also did not get to wash my other bra everyday since it took a day to dry and had to wear bra #2 everyday for the next 9 days after sweating all day. NOT PLEASANT!

September 2008-While waiting in a long hot line to see Peter Pan and Wendy, a CM decided to zone in on us and chat us up. No problems there. I love to talk to CM's. However, this one was a little off. My dd is shy and does not talk to strangers, even when they talk right to her. She will just look down and not speak. I explained that to him and apologized. He would not give up. He badgered her for the entire 30 minutes while waiting. By the time we got to the front of the line, she was in tears!

May 2009-After taking a quick swim break in the afternoon, I was drying my hair while dd and dh were watching tv. Suddenly, dh comes and asks me for a towel because there was "alot of blood". I freaked out! When I walked into the bedroom, my dd (who was 5), had her head buried in a pillow laying on her stomach. I could see blood on the pillowcase. I had dh call 911. Apparently, she was playing with her balloon that had a weight tied onto the ribbon. She wanted it off. She was trying to get the knot out with a pen. Dh said he noticed and said "don't do that, you are going to get hurt". Immediately after saying that the pen came out of the knot and the force shoved it right up dd's nose! The paramedics came and it all worked out to be superficial cut inside the nose. The worst part about it was that dh was panicked and yelled at dd and the police lady thought maybe there was some sort of child abuse happening. Dh was questioned and everything was cleared up. It was very thorough and very upsetting all at the same time. The paramedics and police did a fantastic job though! They calmed all of us down!

It was my 1st trip to Disney and on our first day, at our first park I went on splash mountain wearing white shorts..... Came off with wet shorts that were see through!!
So everyone had a great view of my polka dot underwear until they dried out... :guilty:

Summer of 2007, me and 7 friends (6 of which were close friends, 1 was a friends BF, who I got along well with. For the sake of the story we'll call him "George") drove down to WDW from NYC. We stopped at my family's place in Daytona for the first day just to recharge, relax and swim before heading to WDW. We got to Disney the next day around 9am, checked in and headed right to the Magic Kingdom. Now I'm ALWAYS the super cheery, excited, happy go lucky guy in Disney World, and typically let very little get to me. On this trip, it took 45 minutes before I pulled my best friend aside into a gift shop and VENTED. "George" was irritating me on every possible level, making the trip 100% less fun, a mere 45 minutes into our WDW experience. I was hoping it wasn't just me, and thankfully, my friend agreed about this. Through the whole trip, we just started to see the fake, mean spirited person this guy was. That trip taught me something: Be careful who you pick to go on vacation with. Just because you get along on a once in a while basis back home, does not mean a 10 day road trip with them is a great idea (Note: I have gone away with many, MANY friends and to this date, I've been lucky enough that this is the only bad experience I've had with one on a trip).

There is a very interesting and scary post script to this story. Like I mentioned earlier, this trip took place in July 2007. In May of 2009 "George" was arrested for murder. Thankfully he and my friend had broken up a year prior, and she was not harmed but its still terrifying to know we were all on vacation with this man. "George" is currently serving 40+ years in prison.

My worst Disney moment was on the last day of our honeymoon.

I had a horrible sinus cold and the only thing Dh could find at the resort store was Benadryl, which knocks me out. I sat at a table where they now have the Wishes dessert party, laid my head on the table & began to cry. Then I pointed at the castle and said to Dh, "Some people wait their whole lives to come here. I'm here, looking at that beautiful castle and I don't want to be here. I want to be home."

Two bad moments come to mind:

1. HOT afternoon in August, me and 4 teenagers staying at BC Villas - we leave to get the car to go to the Pirate and Princess Party at MK. We wait and wait and wait for the car....finally they tell us that they can't find the key. It never occurred to me to bring an extra key! Long story short - about an hour and a half later the manager personally drove us to MK in a van and overnight they got a locksmith to make a new key.

2. This past January, we were getting on the TTA and as we got to the top of the moving ramp, the CM was not paying attention and the people started backing up and she didn't turn off the moving walkway. It just pushed us all into one another - people were holding their kids up over their heads and screaming because there was no where to go and more people were coming up the behind us on the moving ramp. I was frightened and jumped over the railing into a tiny little space to protect myself. This lasted a few minutes until she realized it and hit the stop button. People were very upset, understandably. I was really shook up and glad I didn't have a young child with me at the time. Now I'm a little afraid to go up that entrance again!

Not my worst moment but not fun either! We traveled with my bro and sil and nephew on our last trip and were all staying at POR. One of the nights we left Epcot it was a torrential downpour and we were soaked and cold and cranky when we got on the bus. At the last minute, my bro and family decided to get off the bus at the main entrance to the resort as they wanted to get something to eat. We were tired - dd5 was asleep on my lap -so we stayed on the bus for the next stop to get to the other side of the resort to where our room was. Well "our" stop comes and we get out and can barely see for all the rain and we suddenly realize that we are at the main entrance to POR! My db and his family got out at POFQ by mistake! They ended up making the best of it and hung out at POFQ then walked back to POR when the rain let up. We ended up sprinting to our rooms in the pouring rain with a hysterical, overtired 5 yo.

:scared1: That is so scary!

I think my worst moment was prob as a 10 year old waiting to get on the tower of terror and being absolutely terrified, so much so that my dad took me out via the quitters elevator where I finally calmed down, only for the cast member to say that this elevator was the real ride....:scared1:

Have since been on the ride loads though lol :cool1:
