Trying to get ideas for a birthday trip for myself & DH in Jan. Would love to hear where you'd go :wizard:

I would pick Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Beautiful.

Vegas. But I also love to gamble!!! :)

I'd also say San Diego. Lots to do and great weather!

Myrtle Beach. DH and I are going this weekend and it's very inexpensive. We have a 2 room Oceanfront suite for less then $50 a night. It won't be very crowded since it's off season, plus we LOVE the beach!

I 2nd the vote for Vegas. But I also did a great all inclusive to Cabo San Lucas for 3 nights after a week long visit the month before. I love it there. It was fairly inexpensive as well.

Cabin in the Smoky Mountains--North Carolina or Tennessee. If you pick something in the Gatlinburg area (agreeing with Midnight), you will be close to Cherokee and Harrah's casino. You can have the beauty of the the mountains, get a gambling fix, and have tons of fun shopping, eating and exploring nature trails!

Gatlinburg. We do it 2-3 times a year..Not really for Gatlinburg but the Smokey Mountains...

Williamsburg...

I just love walking around the historic area with the fall colors...

There are lots of things to do around the area too...and you can still have a few hours at the beach (about an hour away).

thanks for the quick replies!

Several of the suggested places we've tried and LOVED!
Gatlinburg (also Nashville & Memphis)
Vegas
Miami

I'll start looking into
San Diego (air might be high though ?)
Myrle Beach..definate maybe
Cabo...WOW! ..will look into all inclusive
Williamsburg...sounds romantic

Maybe SWA will have an awesome sale out of New Orleans ??? Not likely but I'll check just the same ;)

Since you are close to the east cost you could also try:

Savannah, GA
Charleston, SC
Asheville, NC (Biltmore Estate)
San Destin, FL

Another vote for Miami. It is beautiful there and there is a good amount of things to do or you can sit on the beach all day. My family has been there 3 times in the past like year and a half and we are considering going again in January. I just got pictures developed from our last trip and a couple of them turned out beautiful. They look like post cards. If you want to see them, I will post them later.

come to Asheville!

The Inn at Biltmore Estate does some great weekend getaway packages in the winter. The Estate is beautiful any time of year and there is always so much to do. Asheville itself is full of great shops, restaurants, galleries, etc, and you will be only an hour away from Harrah's in Cherokee.

Here are my favorites (We're not beach people):

New York City
Las Vegas
Woodstock, VT
Amish Country, PA
San Francisco/Wine Country
San Diego
Newport, RI

Thanks again for the replies :)

I'll post again when we've decided..you guys are GREAT!! :disrocks:
