Your Vacation Box

Are those stickers? Where did you get them?

Actually it's vinyl (basically a roll of contact paper)l that I cut with my cricut, but you could get black at walmart or a craft store and trace Mickey heads and cut them out as well. My cricut just cuts it for me so all I have to do is peel and stick.

Just peeked in my bag yesterday - I have a 2-pack of ponchos (unopened, from Dollar Tree), 2 new matching tee-shirts (presents!), and a makeup bag with empty containers (for lotion, vitamins, anything small that I would lose easily), a travel size shampoo & conditioner (got Pantene at CVS for $1.99 for both!), a travel pack of bandaids, and I saw a safety pin or two at the bottom :)
don't go till fall, but it feels like I need to get moving on this!!:rotfl:

We just started ours and our trip is in *counts* 17 days.............

So far there is

1 lanyard w/ pins (DH refuses to wear one... so it's ALL mine!)
My camera
Batteries
Sunglasses
Disney journal

I need to get crackin' on this box of ours!

in my vacation box/bag :) by the way single
small shaving cream
small scope
2 head and shoulders shampoo
2 small sunscreen
pins/lanyard
disney gift card which every month I put money on it to use it when I got back in 2 yrs

Most sporting goods or running stores will have it. My friend is a runner (1:35 half marathon) and she uses Monistat Soothing Care Chafing relief, which you should be able to get at any drugstore. It starts as a liquid, but dries as a powder. I tried it this past weekend for the Wine & Dine Half and had no chafing at all in the places I used it - made me wish I hadn't set up a control area, which did chafe!!

Body glide is awesome. I use it on my feet to prevent blisters. I carry it in my fanny bag and in the middle of the day reapply it. Love it! Also you can put it on the inside of your legs or anywhere else where you may get chapped or irrated. I buy mine at Sports Authority but i am sure most sports places carry it. Try it you will be glad you did.

Body Glide is an anti-chafing topical that runners use. You can find it at sporting goods stores (i.e. Dick's etc.) We used it on our last trip and will be taking it on our next trip. We used it on our feet and any other spots that were affected by chafing. Happy Planning!

We're leaving the end of November. I better start my box. Love the night light idea and the pipe cleaners. My 10 year old made a scorpian out of twist ties at the market. Pipe cleaners would keep him busy on the airplane for a little while. Also a few clothes pins is a great idea for hanging bathing suits.

Gonna start my box tonight :surfweb:

Purell wipes
glow sticks
coloring books/crayons/activities for plane and hotel
snacks
autograph book (already ordered mine from Disneystore.com)
Disney pens
ponchos
trading pins

I know there's tons more that I'm not thinking of right now...

Great tips thanks hadn't thought to start a box and will give me something to focus on while I wait for August!

I know some of us start putting aside items in a vacation box for our trips. I started mine yesterday!!

So far it has:
Purex laundry sheets
Dryer sheets
Tiny bottle of Shout
tiny bottle of Febreeze
tiny bottle of dish detergent
some dishwasher detergent

first aid items
chapstick with sunscreen

Items I'll add later:
Ponchos
mini fans

What's in yours?

Probably heard this a hundred times but moleskin is a must literally feels like any sores and blisters on your feet arent there! So great!

Just bumping cause I think it is a neat thread!!

I have added a sewing kit to my box as well.

I have a rubber maid that is labled "WDW" & we keep it in the attic. I keep everything we used on our last trip & then add little Disney nick nacks that I find between trips. I pack a few in my back pack & take into the parks. When the kids get the gimmes I pull one out. I also use them as magic experiences, leave them on their plate at dinner & say its from Cinderells etc. I keep my passporter in there. That way when ever I decide to plan another trip I know right where it is. autograph books pins etc.

Can't wait to start my box!! :) We aren't going till November 27 2011, but I have a long list on excel on what I need to get. So I will be buying a box next paycheck and starting to gather things. We will be driving down so I see a trip to costco to bulk buy bulk items. The only thing I will need to get when we get there is milk for the my two girls. But I lived behind the Magic Kingdom for three years so I know where all the stores are. ;)

If you haven't seen it yet there is also a thread in the family section about making a binder for your trip. They look really cool.

:thumbsup2

I love this thread. My family thinks I am crazy for starting my own box after every vacation. I also keep a multi-pocket folder with maps, directions, stamps, address labels, etc, ready. Also a collapsable cooler is great for water/soda/Gatorade in your room. I will also be checking into Body glide as we have also run into chafing and the over the door organizer. Thanks for the tips!:cheer2:

We leave in 49 days, and my DH asked me if it was time to re-stock our disney box ! We have ours stocked with :

Purex sheets
two pop up hampers
an over door shoe organizer
dish liquid and a dish drying mat (we stay in a suite with a full kitchen)
a "good" frying pan and a "good" knife
a box of gallon zip lock bags
box of plastic wrap
a box of garbage bags (never have enough in the suite!)
a surge protector
a sewing kit
flashlight
U shaped car pillow
two toothbrush holders (I HATE leaving them in a glass)
pool toys (water ballsans a water frisbee)
first aid box ( I check before we go to see what needs refilling or replacing)
rain ponchos

This is our 7th trip to the World, and I always end up finding useful tips here!!:thumbsup2
