The auditions sound so intense, and especially the first round part, how very awkward... lol. But still I think it's awesome that you did it! Even though you didn't make it to the next round I bet it felt good to have done it and taken a step towards your dream
I had never really wanted to audition before but after reading so many people's experiences I think it might be something fun to do. I'm sure I'm way too tall for anything, but hey I figure it will just be a fun experience!

Oh wow, what an intense process! Ya know, I wouldn't expect anything less from Disney though. I hold them to a high standard, and I know they hold themself to a high standard, and these character look alike auditions should be no exception. What a great experience though! At least you now kind of have an idea for next time. You're right though, stay in school and get that degree first! Like my CM friend Jenelle--she graduated with a Public Relations Degree and now she's working her way up at Disney.

Loving the TR! I think it's so funny that you don't like cheese, yet keep ordering cheesy foods! The hotel in Kissimmee definitely looked creepy. My best friend and I need a place to stay near WDW the night before we check in at CSR. We will steer clear of that place!

I know we've already talked about it but I would just like to say again that you would be a flawless Belle and it's completely ridiculous that you didn't get picked. Whatever, I'm sure they'll come to their senses once you do the CP.

Also... not to be rude but there are some princesses that I see and I'm like... how did that girl get picked? Like sometimes they are so amazing looking and so similar to the character and others not so much. I don't know. There seems to be a flaw in their system.

Aww thank you Lia I'm glad you believe in me haha. We will see what the future brings! It'll always be my dream but the chances of getting that role seem pretty slim As long as I work at Disney in some way I'll be happy.

And OH MY GOD I know, right!? That's the only thing that makes me angry. Sometimes they do a FABULOUS casting job... and then other times I'm like "get out of the costume and let me do this!" I don't know why that happens because they are so picky. That's why I really feel like it all depends on the day.

Aww...sorry to read that. I think you'd make a great Jasmine. You have a very good attitude about it though. Keep trying and I am sure you'll get casted. Is casted not a word? It looks funny, but "get cast" doesn't sound right.?.? Anywho, good experience for you for the future.

And haha we have this conversation ALL THE TIME at school because I'm around theatre people constantly, and the correct term is actually "cast," not "casted." Weird, I know. People make that mistake all the time though, don't worry. But yes, it definitely was! I'm glad I got to go!

I'm glad that you kept a great attitude with your casting. I always dreamed of being Alice. However, once I hit 5'10" by the time I was 13, I figured that was out of the question. So, I think now my options are Goofy or Maleficent. But Maleficent would be kinda cool.

It was a great experience that you were able to have regardless of the outcome. Keep the goal in mind to someday work at Disney. Even if you potentially don't end up getting cast as a face character, there are plenty of things I'm sure you would enjoy doing.

That's exactly how I look at it! And I definitely will! Oh yes definitely, there are SO many options of things I would enjoy doing, so I'll just have to see what the future holds!

Raglan Road (disappointed in the service we got...or lack thereof)
Chefs de France (so delicious we requested a recipe and got it yesterday!)
Ohana (finger licking good )
Crystal Palace (my kids loved snuggling Pooh)
50's Prime Time (sad we didn't get a playful server)
Sanaa (sooooo good and we saw giraffes and zebras while we dined!)

CS we went to:
Riverside Mill (twice- arrival day and late start park day when we didn't want to stand in line with the mobs)
Sunshine Seasons (twice because it was soooo good oh and that Strawberry Shortcake....HEAVEN!)
Columbia Harbor House
Pizza Planet (for the kids)
Flame Tree BBQ

Snacks I tried:
School Bread (ate for breakfast, yum!)
Caramel Popcorn from Karamel Kuche (my Illuminations snack)
Dole Whip (at 1 o'clock in the morning in the Magic Kingdom, what could be better?)
Jalapeno Pretzel (OMG- so good!!!)
Carrot Cake Cookie from Writer's Stop (ate for breakfast, so big I had it two mornings)
Kakigori (last snack when leaving Disney )

SUCH good table service meals! The only one I haven't been to is Raglan Road!

I totally agree with this statement.
We had a "perfect" Snow White the first time we went to WDW and ate at CRT. The shape of her face, eyebrows etc was just perfect for Snow White. I'll never forget her Then we have seen some of the princesses that did make us think how did they get cast for so-and-so princess. We just didn't "see it".

i have been following your trip report and just decided to say hey and im following allowing! i went to Disney at Christmas once my very first time to WDW when i was 5, and i my parents never want to do it again! I'll have to convince them with the help of your TR! lol

Aww hello! Thank you for being here! Aww I'm sorry your parents don't want to do Disney for Christmas again! The actual Christmas week is EXTREMELY crowded... so that could be why. Maybe you'll have to convince them to do a beginning of December trip sometime!

Yay! I was super excited to hear about the audition!!! That ROYALLY sucks about the girl who got all the way through & had to come back. But honestly, that's why I took all my piercings out & have stuff to hardcore cover my 1 tatoo (it's super small & on my hip, but you never know what would be a problem)

Sylvia & I went down for an audition including character performers & parade/show performers, and they started us off with a movement combination before we got cut. Although we really did say that they were the most fun auditions I've ever been to, (and most positive)

I was going to wait the 6 months until auditioning agian, but now Disney is doing auditions for character look alikes for princesses & tink, and it says anyone can audition (not to mention they're doing them all over the states) and I'm seriously considering going!!

Oh I know, right?! That poor girl. I would have been CRUSHED beyond belief! And that was very very smart of you! Because they will not take you if there's anything "unnatural." It's like a huge policy.

Aww that's really awesome that you had fun at the audition! I'm sorry you got cut, but hopefully one day you'll get through!

You definitely should go! That's the type of audition I went to, so I'm sure the set up would be extremely similar to what I just explained!

I'm glad you enjoyed hearing about it! It's just one of the few interesting things that happened on these trips that is "different" than your typical trip report park touring. I hope I get through one day too... but we'll just have to see!

Haha I have some pictures from that night and the next day coming up with me and my straight hair. I actually spent time on this trip (and the next trip) straightening my hair for a couple of days. Usually I don't bother when I'm in Disney but I had a little extra time, apparently!

I can't imagine living in Florida and having those feelings towards Disney. I think I will definitely move to Florida one day, but I'm going to wait until after my children are grown so they won't take Disney for granted!

Oh I know, it's insane! But you realize, once you're exposed to it, that it makes total sense. Disney isn't just "perfect," they're SUPER strict and strive for the highest possible quality. It's insane!

That's how I feel too! Like, I would love to live down there and work for Disney, but I want to surprise my children one day and take them on a surprise trip. But maybe we'll just have to do that and go to Disneyland.

The kids who lived in Florida and went to Disney all of the time took it for granted! But yes, being an hour away is good because then it's still special!

Yeah it wasn't a great place. Two really good off property hotels are the Double Tree and the Wyndham, so I would suggest looking at those and avoiding the West Gate and this place called Mystic Dunes. (which is very similar!) Anything in the Downtown Disney Area is a good bet. I think Buena Vista Palace is another good one.​

And, couldn't she have taken the piercing out for the role? I don't have my belly button pierced so I don't know if it still shows if it is out.

You're very pretty so I'm surprised you didn't get past the first round, but I guess it's true that they are looking for a certain person for a specific role. That's tough! And, that must have been awkward with them just staring at you. Was that addition just for face characters? I wonder how the casting is for other roles. I can't imagine them being so specific for a non-face character role; other than height and maybe weight requirements.

Wow I can't believe how far behind I fell on your TR Jess. I always find March to be the hardest month in Uni as it seems all your assignments due dates fall at the exact same time.

I totally can't remember everything that I wanted to comment on but i'm going to try and remember some of it anyways.

La Hacienda is soooo good, I had heard so many bad things about it but I ended up loving it and I definitely agree with your mom that the light fixtures are gorgeous.

Yay for being in Disney at the same time as another disser.

That's crazy how it looked so nice in those pics but was actually cold, but Downtown Disney looks like a lot of fun.

Your audition experience still sounds like it was a fun way to learn more about the process even if you didn't get picked.

I always wonder too about the "taking disney for advantage if you lived in the Florida region" phenomenon, and it's definitely something i would take into consideration as well if I ended up planning to move there.

Lastly, I really hope you get to see Disneyland someday soon! I honestly think you would love it! I grew up going there and everyone always said i had to try WDW at some point, and while I have totally fallen in love with the world as well, I still love Disneyland just as much as ever.

And I think that that is everything that I was going to comment on other than to say that I am so excited for you guys that you're trip is coming up so soon!!!! Yay for disney trips!!

i've been at work all day reading your TR, i had to get up and stretch some. So enjoyed it!
*first picture i saw of you, i thought "Belle" you need to be her!! you wouldn't even have to wear those wigs!!
*i love how you and your mom went on a disney trip together, my dh wouldn't let me and our 11yr dd go without him, he loves it just as much as us!
*get as many trips in as you can on the AP!! We did this in 2007 and we our 7.5 hrs away and we did 6 trips in one year with one being 2 wks apart and we were like you, each trip was so exciting. this yr was also the YOMD so our dd got a lot of dreams that yr.
*you definately have to have a disney wedding, tell your mom to start saving!
*we had our disneymoon there and it hasn't stopped. i was bitten by the mickey bug back in 1999 and 30 trips later!
*i hope our dd has the love of disney when she is your age, she is 11 now and has been on 25 trips so far and always ask when are we going back so she still has the love now.
*we've been all months of the year and our favorite is christmas time, nothing can compare so this is when we plan our trips now, end of nov/early dec.
*we want to retire and work in disney as a lot of dissers do
*i loved the TR on epcot night, this is one of our favorite things to do, is let the crowds thin out and walk around the WS and listen to the music, love it!
*can't wait to read your next TR in May! (the flower & garden is gorgeous)
*i love to tell this story because it's like we won the disney lottery: we were asked last dec. to be private tour guides for a family of 29 (14 grandkids), to disneyworld the week after christmas, i had to make all the ADRS for 32, in a month, but the grandfather paid for everyone's trip($100 grand), including ours at the Beach Club Concierge's level, we had our own private bus, deluxe dining plan, and were paid a month's salary just to do it! it was a trip like no other!!! we made sure that family had a magical time! it was awesome and our dd had so much fun with the other grandkids. that is something we really enjoyed doing, touring around the world!!
you just want to help everyone in disney you see reading a map. you want to tell them about the red velvet cupcakes and the disney art classes that so many people will never know about, just as you did!

Omg that's such an awesome job! Was she down there for attractions?

Yeah she was but she spoke in her interview about all her theater experience and how she is confident memorizing lines and she thinks that's probably why she ended up with such a heavy spieling role. Poor belly button ring girl! That would be so frustrating! My friend's sister had a similar thing happen on Australian Idol but with a tongue ring, she got through to the final 30 or something and they asked her to take it out and try again next year. The next year she didn't get past round one. So annoying, especially when it's under their instruction!
I love meeting people at auditions in the line, even if they are the 'competition' it's always such an interesting mix!
Oh Disney they have such a crazy audition process and it's so funny how one audition they won't even look at you twice and that can all change and vice versa.

Hi Jess! I just wanted to say how much I have loved all of your trip reports! Sometimes when I'm reading them, I feel like I'm listening to myself- We're so alike when it comes to Disney.

But I also wanted to disagree with your statement about Floridians taking Disney for granted. I think it is true that some people from Lake Buena Vista or Orlando may take it for granted, but Florida is a BIG state. I'm from South Florida, so I've had the blessing of being able to get in the car and be at Magic Kingdom in 3 hours. And I think that being so close has given me more oppurtunities to fall more in love with Walt Disney world. Floridian's (at least many that I know, including myself), have a passion for Disney that most people don't understand. We have pride that WDW is in our amazing state!! And I don't think raising your kids here would make them take WDW for granted. In my case, growing up here did the opposite

All caught up. I have been behind quite a bit. Glad you got to stay at POR. My fav. Ouch about your knee I would have done the cry then laugh thing too. Love the photos of T-Rex as it makes me really want to take my DGS there when we hopefully go in 2013. He loves Dinosaurs and cars. Can't even imagine the awe he will have seeing that place. The rood looks good too. Too bad about the audition but as you said it just makes less stress after changing schools. I hope that one day I see you as Jasmine. I can so you you as her. Trying to save is the hard part.lol I have some and plan to keep saving at least $20 a week. I think that is a good start.lol

Aww thank you. But yeah, you're right. It just depends on what they're looking for that day! And yeah, I think some people found it to be weird. But I was just there. You just stand and smile and you're done. Much easier than actually having to sing and dance and stuff. And yes, that was just for face characters. I don't know how it works for costumed characters. I know that it is height and weigh specific, and they do a lot of pantomiming auditions to see if you're up to par with what they want for the character.​

La Hacienda is soooo good, I had heard so many bad things about it but I ended up loving it and I definitely agree with your mom that the light fixtures are gorgeous.

I always wonder too about the "taking disney for advantage if you lived in the Florida region" phenomenon, and it's definitely something i would take into consideration as well if I ended up planning to move there.

I think it definitely depends on the person and their attitude about Disney. But I'm sure that it happens often to people!​

Lastly, I really hope you get to see Disneyland someday soon! I honestly think you would love it! I grew up going there and everyone always said i had to try WDW at some point, and while I have totally fallen in love with the world as well, I still love Disneyland just as much as ever.

Me too! My parents are hoping to go out west during Summer 2013 and if that happens we will definitely be stopping at Disneyland! That's so wonderful that you got to go to Disneyland a lot when you were younger! I feel like I would have the same opinion as you only opposite... because the park you grow up with obviously will stay very close to your heart... even though the other is absolutely wonderful in every way as well. ​

And I think that that is everything that I was going to comment on other than to say that I am so excited for you guys that you're trip is coming up so soon!!!! Yay for disney trips!!

Yes, we took 6 trips this past year with my AP. SO WORTH IT! Oh my gosh that's absolutely wonderful! YEAR OF A MILLION DREAMS WAS MY FAVORITE OMG. I never got any of the dream things, sadly. But that theme was just beautiful. I loved it. What dreams did your DD get?​

Hahaha oh yes, I informed my Dad just the other day (yet again) that Disney will be the location of my wedding. I think that both of my parents have just come to accept that fact. ​

*i love to tell this story because it's like we won the disney lottery: we were asked last dec. to be private tour guides for a family of 29 (14 grandkids), to disneyworld the week after christmas, i had to make all the ADRS for 32, in a month, but the grandfather paid for everyone's trip($100 grand), including ours at the Beach Club Concierge's level, we had our own private bus, deluxe dining plan, and were paid a month's salary just to do it! it was a trip like no other!!! we made sure that family had a magical time! it was awesome and our dd had so much fun with the other grandkids. that is something we really enjoyed doing, touring around the world!!

OH MY GOD THAT'S LIKE A DREAM COME TRUE! Holy, HOLYYY cow. That's absolutely unbelievable. I would LOVE to plan something like that - what an honor that must have been! Wow. Just... AHH that sounds absolutely AMAZING! (especially the Beach Club Concierge!? HEAVEN!)​

you just want to help everyone in disney you see reading a map. you want to tell them about the red velvet cupcakes and the disney art classes that so many people will never know about, just as you did!

That's exactly why I write these trip reports! Because I wish I could tell everyone those tips, but the average person won't remember. At least here, there are people who would take note of these wonderful things and try them on their own!​

Yeah she was but she spoke in her interview about all her theater experience and how she is confident memorizing lines and she thinks that's probably why she ended up with such a heavy spieling role. Poor belly button ring girl! That would be so frustrating! My friend's sister had a similar thing happen on Australian Idol but with a tongue ring, she got through to the final 30 or something and they asked her to take it out and try again next year. The next year she didn't get past round one. So annoying, especially when it's under their instruction!

I know, I felt really bad for her. That is absolutely AWFUL. And ughh I feel so bad for your friend's sister! That would be TERRIBLE! Poor thing.​

Oh Disney they have such a crazy audition process and it's so funny how one audition they won't even look at you twice and that can all change and vice versa.

It's weird how some Florida people take Disney for granted and for others it's just as magical as it always was. We met this guy in Florida when we were down there and he worked at Disney and literally talked about his job like it was McDonalds

I know, it really depends on the person. And ughhh that makes me so angry. That's just not even fair. Working at Disney is my dream. McDonald's.... not so much.​

Hi Jess! I just wanted to say how much I have loved all of your trip reports! Sometimes when I'm reading them, I feel like I'm listening to myself- We're so alike when it comes to Disney.

But I also wanted to disagree with your statement about Floridians taking Disney for granted. I think it is true that some people from Lake Buena Vista or Orlando may take it for granted, but Florida is a BIG state. I'm from South Florida, so I've had the blessing of being able to get in the car and be at Magic Kingdom in 3 hours. And I think that being so close has given me more oppurtunities to fall more in love with Walt Disney world.

Oh my gosh, yes, I don't mean to generalize Florida like that. It was just the specific kids I talked to at the audition that left that impression on me. It DEFINITELY depends on each individual person and whether or not they have that "Disney Bug" or not. If I was three hours away by car I would be just like you! I'm three hours away by plane so it's kind of the same thing... (not really But you know.)​

Floridian's (at least many that I know, including myself), have a passion for Disney that most people don't understand. We have pride that WDW is in our amazing state!! And I don't think raising your kids here would make them take WDW for granted. In my case, growing up here did the opposite

That's really good to hear also. I feel as though my kids would "get it," so whether I lived in my hometown or close to the world, we'll definitely have a Disney family. I guess it just depends on what life brings my way!

Ouch about your knee I would have done the cry then laugh thing too. Love the photos of T-Rex as it makes me really want to take my DGS there when we hopefully go in 2013. He loves Dinosaurs and cars. Can't even imagine the awe he will have seeing that place. The rood looks good too.

Hahaha yeah, I would totally expect that reaction from myself. And ahh you DEFINITELY should make sure you take your DGS there, then. If he's a Dinosaur fan, he would be in HEAVEN! Plus, the food is unbelievable. So it's a win-win situation!​

So jealous your going again. I wish I was on the east coast so I could go as often. I love Disneyland but WDW is my home away from home. Just doesn't compare to me.

Aww yeah, I'm really thankful to live within a reasonable distance from the world. I WISH I could make it over to Disneyland more often but I haven't been there since I was 12. But WDW is my home, also, so I understand how you feel.​

We are hoping to celebrate our 25 yr of being together (not wedding as that would mean one more year and July heat). We want to take the family with us for a 3 day cruise then WDW. Trying to save is the hard part.lol I have some and plan to keep saving at least $20 a week. I think that is a good start.lol
