It's Halloween time! Let's hear your coolest, scariest, weirdest, most heart-warming enounters with the unexplained!

I've mentioned before that I've been a paranormal investigator for a long time. So, I love this time of year and haring people's stories!

FYI: DH and I have scored one of the "Holy Grails" of investigations!! In early Nov., on our 17th Anniversary, we have an over night investigation of Alcatraz!!!!:cheer2: So, I will let you know if anything amazing happens!

I was making cookies in my aunt's house. I felt like I was being watched but of course nothing was there. I'm getting the cookies out of the oven when I get nice ice-cold hug from the air. I never went back to the house again.

I am absolutely convinced that I saw a UFO.

I was a teenager and was walking home from a friend's house. Though I lived in a lighted subdivision, she lived back in the boonies where there were absolutely no street lights. It was dark, and I was jogging along because it made me nervous being all by myself. Suddenly there was a tremendous light that filled the sky and hung there. There was no sound at all. I froze, peed my pants, and then it was gone.

my daddy was not allowed to smoke after he had a major coronary ....and mama was on him about being healthy and everything........well after he died .....my cigarettes were " ALWAYS " put on top of the refrigerator every night and the lighter too......we were careful because we had children.......well anyways....one night I heard a noise and woke up but didnt hear anything after so went back to sleep.......and the next morning my cigarettes were in the living room and my lighter was in the bathroom ........

a few weeks later.....I woke up and saw a white t shirt and I thought it was our little boy (little at the time)...so I asked him if he had to go potty....well no answer and then I put my elbow up and looked again and it was a t shirt shimmering in the air.....my daddy always wore a t shirt around the house......another time I stepped aside in the night time to let the t shirt go past me........a few weeks later we were able to bury my daddy .....he died in the middle of the winter.....he didnt visit us again after that........we loved our daddy so he was always welcome to come and visit us..

My sister and her family moved into their house in 1986, when my nephew was 4yo. Up to that point, he never had an imaginary friend. Living there, he started talking to "Jimmy." He said "Jimmy" was his new friend. He had a birthday party. He got a remote controlled train set. It was set up in the front room. We were all sitting around the kichen, the kids were outside running around. All of a sudden, the train starts up. Nobody was in the room. My BIL figured the remote picked something up, and clicked on. Only, there were no batteries in it. :scared1:

A few months later, BIL got up in the middle of the night. he went to check on my niece, who was a year old. Out of the corner of his eye, he ees a little boy go into the boys room. He figures is is my 3yo nephew, so he goes in to tuck him in, only to find the bed EMPTY. He then realizes BOTH boys were in his bed. He goes and sits on his bed, wakes my sister up and shows her every hair on his arm was standing straight up.

I lived in ther attic apartment in 1989. The apartment has an outerdor that leads to the stairs, and then the inner door at the top of the stairs. I locked the outdoor, but no the inner door. Every night at minute, for as long as I lived there, I would wake up to the door being opened, then closed. I had my BF stay one night, and he woke up, but didn't know what woke him. LOL

Sis and BIL have lived in the house for 21 years now, and there has not been an occurance in years. We figure it was a little boys ghost.

I swear the last house we lived in was evil. No matter where my brothers or I were at night (besides bed... and sometimes even then) it was total terror unless ALL the lights were on. Not a one of us could go anywhere with even just a flashlight; every light had to be turned on. None of the adults felt it either. Only us three kids. BUT, we were a loving family before we moved there, and while we were there it was total hell for all of us; I nearly ran away, mom nearly left dad, both parents were abusive... And then we moved away, and it took only about 3 months to get our family back to being loving and close. Just thinking about those 6 years gives me the running creepies, and I'm a total skeptic when it comes to paranormal phenomena. :sad2:

Great start! Keep 'em coming!

I guess I should share...goodness knows I have plenty to share! LOL

This is a cute one that happened just afew weeks ago...........I was in the kitchen and, just as I closed the fridge, I saw our white cat (Merlin) sitting on the table. I turned around to pet him and he wasn't there. Nope he was in another room sound asleep. I didn't mention it to DH.

Later that night, when DH got home, he was in the kitchen and I heard him say, "Wo, that was weird!". I said, "what?". He said, "I just turned around to pet Merlin, on the table, and now he's not there". Again, he was asleep elsewhere in the house.

Merlin's pure white sister, Guinevere, died 2.5 years ago! So we decided she just dropped in for a visit.

Mine both deal with my grandmother, who passed in 2005 and to whom I was very close. The first happened last year sometime...I have a spider plant of hers hanging above my bed that she'd had hanging in her bathroom. It's in kind of a little alcove, so it's shielded from the breeze from the vents, and my window was closed, as it normally is. That night, I went to bed after having been dealing with a lot of stuff, especially worry about my family after having just lost the most recent member of it in what'd been a terribly long string of losses (14 people in 12 months). I got in bed and was wondering how I was ever going to sleep that night; I picked up my book and started to read, and that's when I noticed that the plant above me was swinging back and forth, and I mean swinging in large arcs, like 6-8" in each direction. I watched it for maybe 2 or 3 minutes and it never stopped swinging. I was starting to wonder what on earth could be causing it when it occurred to me that it could be my grandmother. I said, "Oh, hi, Mawgaw," (that's what everyone in the family called her) and went back to reading. When I looked up again a couple of minutes later, the plant was still.

The other thing was a dream, but to me it still falls into the realm of "supernatural," as I think it was a direct message from my grandmother. In the dream, I was housesitting for her, which I'd never done. She got home from her trip and when I opened the front door to greet her, she had an ENORMOUS smile on her face. I honestly can't remember ever seeing her so happy. She said that she had so much to tell me, that she'd had a wonderful trip, and that she was just so happy.

Suddenly, a bunch of other family members were there, all talking amongst ourselves, and she was in the kitchen, as she always was during family gatherings. I remember going around to everyone and asking if they'd all noticed how happy she was; I mean, it was like happiness was radiating off of her, almost like an aura or something you could physically see.

The next thing I remember was going downstairs with her to get something and her suddenly grabbing my hand and dancing around the basement with me, twirling and spinning and laughing. (Again, something we had never done.) She was absolutely gleeful.

When I woke up, I felt SO much better about things with her. She'd been alive for 8 years after my grandfather passed away, and there'd always been a kind of veil of sadness around her. They'd been practically joined at the hip throughout their entire marriage, and she never really got over his passing. My mom used to joke that if one went to the bathroom, the other would hover anxiously outside, waiting till they could be together again. That dream made me feel that she'd finally been reunited with her Joe and was truly happy again.

I have experienced many strange things.

UFO - In 1981 or 1982 my BF and I were driving to go skiing in Colorado. I saw something in the sky and we pulled over to the side of the road. Other cars were pulling over to the side of the road too. We all stared up at the sky and saw something that was multi-colored move across the sky. It was like multi-colored fireworks moving across the sky. Later that night we were watching the news and found out that many people called in to report it. It was seen in several states.

Ghosts - After someone close to me died, several strange things happened. His car alarm went off every night for a week at almost the exact same time. I, along with other family members, would see a mist go by a door early in the morning. I woke up in the middle of the night and thought someone was standing beside the bed. Things like that.

My DH & I were at his parents house. One night we both woke up and heard, "Help me, mommy. Help me, mommy." It was a child's voice. It scared me so much I couldn't say a word. In the morning I asked DH if he heard it and he had. Creeeeeeeppppppy.

One night DH & I were sleeping in the house we own now, which was brand new when we bought it. I woke up and heard a noise in the corner. It was a rattling noise and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. In the morning I was determined to find the source. At the time we had an exercise machine beside the bed. After looking at it, I was able to make the noise by moving one of the parts back and forth quickly. How had that happened by itself the night before?

I had no idea people could do that!?!?! Please tell me you are sleeping in a cell!!!!! AAAAHHHHHH!!!!
I want full details including pictures when you get back!!! Please!

My DD is convinced there is a ghost in their house, because their son (he is 2-1/2 years old) will occasionally wave to "someone" at night and point to them. They will be in the living room and my grandson will wave at the dining room. Freaks my DD out, but we don't think it's an evil ghost because they have lived there 7 years and nothing bad has ever happened.

People generally can't. It's a longish story as to how we got access, that actually begins at The Stanley Hotel. We'll be with a group of about 20 people. I don't plan to sleep at all! Fortunately, I'm a night owl and plan to stay up all night investigating!! I'll let you know how it goes.:)

I was one of the hundreds, if not thousands who saw a UFO hovering over Flatbush Brooklyn in the Spring of '71! It hovered for about 4 hours.

People were in a panic in the streets, grown woman were hysterical crying.:scared:

It look excatly what a flying saucer looks like!:thumbsup2

It never made the news!:confused3

What about green haired men? ;)

For a short time a couple of years ago, we had some strange things happen, all centered around candles.

We would wake up in the middle of the night to a loud crash only to find candleholders that had fallen off of glass shelves for no apparent reason. The only animals in the house, our dogs and birds, were in the bedroom with us, sound asleep when it would happen. It wasn't a rodent in the house because (and DW Lauri will kill me for admitting this) there was enough dust on the glass shelving to be able to tell if something was on the shelf with the holders. Plus the holders left a clean spot with no dragging marks like they slid off the shelves.

We remained fairly doubtful of any paranormal activity and tried to reason it out until one day when we were getting ready to walk out of the house. On the hall table, we had a candle holder with a 3 inch tall thick pillar candle on it. We saw the darn thing freaking raise up and toss itself about 3 feet away from the table just inches from us.  :scared1:

Lauri, instead of getting scared, got mad and said out loud "Oh no you didn't. You have GOT to stop screwing around with my stuff or you'll be sorry". Never happened again. :rotfl:

Lauri's had several paranormal instances at work. I'll have to get her to post them for you.

I've posted my stories before, but what the heck. May be all new people reading this time.

I work part time in a radio station. It's in an old building with the stations, a 2000 seat theater, ballroom (now offices) and bowling alley (now storage area)

A few years ago, I'd be down in the production room and see a face peeking in the small window of the soundproof door. I thought I was just being paranoid and would shake it off. Then my PD mentioned that "the face" never bothered him until it laughed at him when he screwed up on a cut he was working on and started cussing. That was when I realized I had seen something. I was talking with another girl who was there (upstairs) when this happened to my PD so she told me the whole story and how she'd seen it too. Between her version and the PDs version matching up, plus me being able to finish descriptions she started, we knew we weren't crazy. After that, I paid a little more attention when I saw the face. I could tell it was an old woman, lots and lots of wrinkles, gray hair. That year, they had a psychic come in on the morning show for one of the stations. She went down and said it was an old cleaning lady named Lily.

Not long after that I got roped into running a hockey game for the local minor league team. The broadcast was using a cell kit, so I could talk to the play by play guy during breaks since it was through the phone line. At one point during the game, there's all this beeping . . . you know the sound when you hit redial? It was exactly like that but a MUCH longer string of numbers. Just kept going for about 20 seconds (which is an eternity on air) He goes to break a couple minutes later and asks what I did. I told him nothing, I was on the other side of the room and thought he hit the kit or something. He said he stretched the mic and was nowhere near the kit, and no one else was by it either. It had never done it before, and never again.

My worst was a few years ago. I was down in those production rooms, finishing up some work. There's an office around the corner from the room, maybe 10 steps away, if that. As I'm getting my stuff put away, I hear a very loud noise. Imagine the sound of someone desperately pulling at a doorknob trying to get out of a locked room. That's what I heard. LOUD. And considering the only other person in the building at the time was one floor up and on the opposite side of the building, I freaked.

Late at night you hear odd noises from the 3rd floor. No one's up there at that time of night, but you hear huge thuds. I always say it sounds like a team of acrobats up there, practicing. I'll also hear on the 2nd floor the very clear footsteps of someone walking down the hall or opening the men's room door (that needs WD-40'd desperately) but when I peek around the corner, no one's there.

And there's a man I see all the time. He'll stand outside the studio and watch, sometimes I catch him walking ahead of me when I go down the hall. I've been seeing him for 4 years. I was talking not too long ago to one of the guys at work about it when talking about strange things happening there. I described the guy (I can give pretty good detail on him, I see him so clearly) and he asked when I started seeing him. Apparently the man that trained him (but quit long before I started working, so I never met him) passed away around the time that I started seeing this ghost. . . and matched my description.

Weird things happened in my parents' house all the time. Mirrors and other glass things would just kind of explode, or break with a "pop".

Once I woke up and saw a man with red hair floating above me. He moved closer and I could actually feel his weight on top of me. It felt like I couldn't breath and then all of a sudden he and his weight were gone.

One time when my niece was about 3 or 4 we were taking a bath together. She points over to near the toilet and says, "Why is that lady standing there?" I yelled there was no lady, picked her up and hightailed it out of the bathroom.

My niece used to talk about a lady she'd see and she said she was carrying a suitcase and had a sweater that went " 'round and 'round her" - a shawl, maybe?

There were several more things, but once my "sister" moved out, most of it stopped. She actually was my best friend, but had a troubled life and her mom kicked her out of her house and my parents took her in. I consider her my sister and her daughter my niece.

:scared1: Time to get a new job!

I’ve only had one strange experience. It was back in college and I worked for the school’s housing maintenance department doing clerical work. Our offices were located in a building that was built in the 1940’s and were in the ‘basement’ – but it had an exterior entrance/exit.

Being a part time student worker I wasn’t assigned keys to our offices but there was a programmed key box that contained all of the dorm’s master keys and I had an access code to that key box for when I needed a dorm master key for work purposes. Our boss programmed one of our office keys into the key box therefore allowing us to be able to open the office should we arrive before she did. When entering the ‘basement’ there was a long hallway that ended in our inventory room (where the key box was kept) and the office that I worked out of was on the right as you stepped into the hallway. On the left of the hall way (cattycorner to my office) was a workroom with our time clock and that room led into a break room used primarily by the schools maintenance men.

One morning I was the first one that worked in the offices to arrive as we opened at 8:00 am. The maintenance guys, who were usually there by 7:15 – 7:30 each morning, were all in the break room watching t.v.) I walked down the hallway into the inventory room and got the office key so that I could open up the office. As I turned to walk back up the hall to the office I saw my co-worker, Hillary, arrive. I never saw her face as she was in the process of turning into the workroom to clock in at the time clock but I saw her for several seconds; long enough to realize that the sweater she was wearing was one I’d seen her wear before and that the length and the color of her hair indicated that it was her (she was the only strawberry blond that worked there). She disappeared inside the workroom and as I passed the workroom to go to the office I saw her again (the back of her) heading into the break room instead of walking over to the time clock.

I found that to be strange as she didn’t have any reason for going into the break room – we really didn’t use it, only the maintenance guys did. She was new to the office so she really didn’t even know the guys.
I opened the office and waited for her to come in but she never did. She would have had to walk past me in order to exit the building but no one walked by. About 5 – 10 minutes later Hillary walks in from outside wearing different clothing. I asked her if she had just arrived and she said yes. I went over to the break room and asked the guys who the girl was that walked earlier and they were all surprised by my question and stated that no one had been in there.

I still don’t know how to explain that one as I saw the girl twice and was able to see her long enough both times to notice enough detail about her to know that it was my co-worker.

Wow, Alcatraz was cool! Have you been before? We did the self guided audio tour. It was realy creepy to take the headphones off and not hear anyone talking. I'm not sure I would do a night tour though.

Here is my ghost pic. Taken at the "Inn at 835" springfield, Illinois.
Second window from the left, second floor.

The Inn is in two ghost books that I have found. And that is the room we stayed in for a wedding reception!!
