Your thoughts on Randy Quaid?

He is totally paranoid and thinks that people are killing off movie actors. He definitely needs help! He has unfortunately spent all his money and that is why he was squatting in a guest house that he formally owned. He probably lost his house due to foreclosure. It is sad to see his slide into the abyss.

OMG, I was reading some of this stuff the other day. I always loved Randy Quaid as an actor and it saddens me to see him slide into mental illness either through no fault of his own or drugs.

The things they were saying about "murders in Hollywood" and thinking he was next on the list... just paranoid and insane. I hope these two both get the help they need.

My family still gives me a hard time about that. We watch this movie every year, without fail. One viewing, I made the mistake of saying "Eddie looks so great in his dickie". Apparently, DH and his male cousin were unfamiliar with the term "dickie" and what it means. I have been teased every Christmas since. I'd give you examples of what they say to me, but I don't want points. But it's about Eddie and his dickie.

If he really is mentally ill, I feel badly for him. All the paranoia stuff sounds like the possability is there. I feel bad for making fun of him now. I hope his family can get him to turn himself in so they can do a psych eval. If he needs help, he should get it.

He said several of his 'friends' have died in unusual circumstances. Seems like he might have gone off his meds due to being broke. I'm sure his brother loves him and is very afraid for him. You don't just get a bi-polar person to 'turn themselves in.' Mental illness isn't something I find appropriate material for jokes. kwim?

I agree. And I should know better. That's why I feel badly about posting jokes. How are people ever going to take mental illness seriously if it's the fodder for jokes. If he is bi-polar, if he hits a depressive stage, he may feel the need to get help. I don't know. It's an unpredictable disorder.

I worked on a film for about 6 months with DQ. He is the nicest guy you would ever want to meet and NOTHING like Randy. I can't believe those 2 are related.
