Wondering what everyone is doing for a special VD meal? Are you cooking, going out, or partying with other friends?

I'm solo again this year, although I did get two invites. I just think if I accept a dinner invite on VD it becomes more meaningful and I'm not interested in either person to the extent of becoming exclusive so...

My Christmas present from DS arrived yesterday finally. No, he didn't mail it before Xmas, he just sent it about 8 days ago:laughing: He actually arrived in the states before his gift did. Anyways, it is Saki (or at least I think it is, everything is in Japanese, lol).

I bought myself a 3# lobster for dinner. So, it's looking like salad and boiled lobster with a few glasses of saki. How about you?

I have never had lobster it intimidates me;), I am thinking of maybe doing up a turkey dinner! Or after reading another thread, I might try prime rib.

I think we need something chocolate for dessert!

Love strawberries dipped in chocolate and they are so easy to make:) Also love prime rib but now you're talking too much time for me, lol....

We dropped the kids off earlier today at my mom's house and we have made our way to the Lake. We are going out for a nice dinner in a little while, but right now I am enjoying a little wine as I Dis.

DH is grilling buffalo steaks. I will be making zuchini/squash veggies with butter and garlic, some garlic butter for the steaks and a nice side salad. Oh and some of the new wine we got, Apothic Red. Poor hubby has jury duty that day so not a great way to start off Valentines day :lmao:

Oh wow that sounds great!

I made our special dinner tonight. I made a Rachael Ray recipe "Chicken Marvalasala and Pasta with Rosemary gravy"

It was good. I overcooked the chicken ( I always do that...:sad2:) but the mushrooms were good, and the pasta was awesome.

I also made a Chocolate Truffle Pie which we haven't had yet.

DH and I went out on a date last week, but tonight, I made ribs for the whole family. Slow cooked them all day and finished them off on out flattop. I also fixed baked potatoes and fresh broccoli. NOM!

DH and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day-just a commercial holiday for the card industry-we show our love for each other every day. ;) I find the gesture of flowers or a romantic card to mean much more on any random day in the year.
That said, my kids are all into Valentine's Day, so DH and I are going to make them dinner. We will have heart shaped meatballs, heart shaped homemade pink pasta, heart shaped garlic toast, a heart cake, and chocolate covered strawberries.

We're not going anywhere (I don't think we ever have in the 7 years we've been together).

I'm making DH's favorite on Monday night- chicken, mashed potatoes (homemade), and asparagus. Then chocolate covered strawberries for dessert! :)

Since I am by myself this year (husband is in training) I will make myself a steak saute' mushrooms, baked potato with cheese, bacon and green onions and probably saute green beans and for dessert strawberries or I might make smoked salmon potato nests instead with a shrimp ceviche and mango salsa.

Suprisingly my husband is in town this year and we are both taking the day off to see the other's pretty face.

I might break out the heart shape thingy for heart pancakes for breakfast. I dont really want to get out of the pjs or bother doing anything that day. I did buy a couple pounds of crab legs and going to do a mini crab pots with small potatoes and cut up corn on the cob. I'm bringing home a cheesecake tomorrow to indulge in.

I actually love doing something sweet but when it's just a treat to see his face I'm happy with that and not doing anything else.

My husband is away for his job so Valentine's Day will be postponed for 2 weeks until he comes home.

We'll be doing lunch - with our older son and his wife and a friend of theirs. We'll be eating at the exclusive Club 33 in Disneyland. You can only go there with someone who has a membership, and their friend works for a corporation that has one. For those of us who have spent a lifetime going to Disneyland, it's kind of a "bucket list" thing to do.

Wow!!! How cool for you!!:cool1:

A group of friends and I usually go out but with money tight for everyone we decided to postpone it until the weekend when we can get together at someone's house and make our own food.

Instead I will be at home with my mom and I am making pork chops with apple cider gravy, baked sweet potatoes, and asparagus.

My mother came to watch the kids tonight, so DH and I went out to Portobello at DTD - It was fantastic!! We will definitely be returning.

I stop over around 6p? That good for you..LOL:rotfl2:

Nothing for me...spending V-Day alone...I work day shift, DH works night shift...so..meh...just another Monday
