Your Shameful Disney Secret??

Dole Whips - Don't get the big deal with them. I found it tasty, but ultimately it just tasted like pineapple frozen yogurt. :confused3

Fantasmic - In my countless trips to DL I have never seen it. I attempted to watch it one time, but we had just gotten off of Splash and I was soaking wet and it was COLD...so, we left after a minute.

DCA - I am beginning to love this park more and more. The first few times I thought it was boring, and quite frankly, almost offensive that the execs would think that Disney fans wouldn't notice how quick and sloppy it was put up. But now, I enjoy it, probably because it isn't as crowded (which I am sure will change with all the new additions) - and the beer truck/Cove Bar also helps :lmao:

I am so glad others remember the knight inside the HM! I have told people about that and how freaky it was, but they never seem to believe me! Wasn't that in the 80s? I think you have to put some extra warning signs up if you introduce something new like that ... part of the fun of the HM is that it's spooky but can't really get you!

I couldn't recall exactly when it was when I was thinking back on that creepy knight, but you must be right. It had to have been in the late '80s. I don't think it was in the early '90s. But I do think I saw that knight on more than one occasion in the HM, so I am inclined to think he was brought back for more than one year/season.

Again, I was a little surprised that Disney did that kind of thing because the hands-on contact from the knight (and he was holding a fake weapon of some kind, I think) was a little risky and scarier than their usual style! As it is, many kids might be afraid to go on that ride and don't need some knight lunging out at them with his weapon and touching their arm! Heck, I wasn't even a kid, and the knight didn't even hit our Doom Buggy, but I was scared when I saw him lunging at the other buggies around us! I don't want REAL people jumping out at me inside the HM! I remember thinking to myself for a fleeting moment, "Did they put him in here to scare us intentionally, or this some crazy ax murder on the loose who is hiding inside Haunted Mansion?" I am glad they thought twice and got rid of the knight. I don't think that was a good idea on Disney's part!

That sounds...horrible! I'm SO glad I never experienced that :scared1:

I didn't like the attic pop-ups either--that was the only thing in HM that ever scared me (I didn't see the knight!)

I'm pretty sure it was either '89 or '90 when we saw him. We went on HM twice that trip (Maybe 3 times, but I only remember seeing the suit twice). The 2nd time he was already in the 'I'm gonna git ya' pose when we passed by and got my Dad pretty good since he was just a few inches from him to start. :hmghost:

I don't let my kids ever ride rides at the State Fair of mall carnival because frankly any ride that has traveled on the back of a truck and can be assembled in few hours scares the bejeepers out of me. And don't even get me started on the people that work the carnival.

I was always mad at my mom when I was a kid for the same exact thing (not letting me ride the rides at fairs), until the day I saw carnies outside of the fairgrounds. The boathouse where I did crew during my freshman year of high school (until the team moved into a new boathouse a block away) was near the freeway onramp and had a swath of empty dirt across the street from it (essentially a giant shoulder that was often used for parking by parents and teammates). One day a truck with a carnival ride attached to it parked there and let me just say that those carnies were pretty entertaining to watch (it was like a traveling white trash trailer park replete with people walking around in nothing but bathrobes and slippers outside in public), but they never exhibited behavior that would make me want to trust them with my life. Thus, I finally understood why my mom didn't want me to go on rides at fairs and I will never let my future kids go on them either.

Another Disney secret:
I never get choked up at the parks, but when I listen to park music at home, I get a little misty-eyed (though I'd never admit to it to my friends and family, because that's a surefire way of getting them to try to detox me of all things Disney).

Also, I love the POTC movies and the (no longer there) Jack sparrow and other pirate entertainers, but I HATE the addition of Jack to the POTC ride (completely ruined the plot of the ride) and the changing of TSI to Pirates Lair (still secretly hoping that they'll refurb Fort Wilderness and change the island back to what it was).

I don't get the whole pin trading fascination. :confused3

Me either. To me, all of those pins would just fill another box of (expensive) junk in my basement.
.......and I think the Sun Wheel is pure evil! :scared:

I will never ride the Wheel of Death again!! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!!!!

I am addicted to the boards, no really it's almost shameful how much I'm on them (especially since I have no trip planned in the near future)

My name is DisneyNic and I am a Disaholic. I got on just to check a couple of threads on Saturday, and 10 hours later I finally turned the computer off. Wow, that was even more pathetic when I said (typed?) it out loud.

:rotfl2: I'M NOT ALONE!!!! I can easily spend that much time on the boards!

As for Pin Trading, I secretly LOVE it! I don't have a lot of them but I feel so inexplicably awesome when I find a pin that I absolutely love! And I never trade them (well haven't is a better statement I guess) if I find a pin I like, I want it for me! Yeah, I'm selfish that way!

I don't understand why it is sad that a child is eating a turkey leg?

Also, why don't you just use the handicapped loading area with your wheelchair? That way you would load first and not have to wait. The large area in the front of some of the tram cars is a HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE area--NOT a stroller area. You should get priority. Of course, if there is room there is no reason strollers can't be put there, but handicapped folks should be loaded first.
The turkey leg was twice the size of the kid's hand and mouth. The kid could not even start to eat it. A nurse at the divas changed subject as it grossed her out. You have skin and fat and tendons and well you get the picture. Ine turkey left is enough meat for a football player.

It is too far fo rme to walk at night to the disabled loading area and I pass out from exhaustion because I cannot get an ECV yet. they do load the disabled first in the special area but you have to walk or roll all the way to the second loading area clear out in the boondocks.

I hpe I can get an ECV from SCAN.

I hate Stitch. Can't stand that character. Hate that Stitch is a Disney creation. Ugh. :headache:

Yeah... I'm thinking that would be me too. I don't do the whole pin trading thing mostly because I don't completely understand how it works!!! :confused3 I wouldn't want someone getting the choice of any of my pins! I would be like... "Ummmmm No... not that one.... Nooooo.... not that one either!" Plus... I'm just scared I'd go all OCD crazy on it and try to get every pin ever known to man and that would just be BAD!!!!

As far as everything else that's been mentioned... I don't dislike any of those things! I love Small World, and even the Tikki room! (Although - one visit per trip is enough for me!)

I guess my secret is that I want to live on main street. That's totally possible right? :rolleyes1

1. I hate being rammed in the back of the legs by a stroller. When I was a kid, I stopped for a second to tie my shoe only to have my legs rammed by a stroller and the mom say in a rude tone "Excuse ME". I understand mom's can be stressed at Disney, but that is no excuse to ram my legs, she could of gone around, the park was crowded.
2. I cry a little when I step in Disneyland.
3. I don't like eating at Tomorrowland.
4. I am planning a trip to WDW for Sept.2010 and I already bought a planner guide and I am planning it right now.

Great thread! Here're mine:

-I love IASW, partly because it's a nice long cool place to sit but mainly for all the detail and the great retro feel.
-I think the food at Blue Bayou is pretty crappy, esp for the price.
-I used to love Autopia as a kid, but it made my cry on our last night at DL last trip. The line took so long and then the car in front of kept breaking down, so by the time we got off, we didn't have time to make it across the park and do the last ride of Splash that we had planned as our final activity. DD1 and I were both in tears.
-I love the turkey legs, esp for my eldest who really needs to get enough protein or she falls apart. She loves them and I'm happy to buy them for her.
-my DH happily sat through Tiki Room 3 times in a row last visit because our 18 mo old loves it so much.
-I love Indiana but it scares me and I have to close my eyes in parts.

:( I kinda have to defend the parents with strollers here.....please don't get upset it's just something we have dealt with on every trip. I agree some parents can use them as steam rollers. However, I can't tell you how many times we're going at a good pace and someone just stops dead center right in front of us. I have stopped suddenly on more than one occasion and have been ran into from behind in the process. But hey at least 'I' didn't hit anyone. That being said, I haven't been able to stop every time. If I need to stop, I check behind me to make sure I'm not just stopping in the path of someone. It only takes a second to merge to the side. The others are those that want to get around the stroller, which I totally understand, BUT when you step right in front of the stroller you're likely to get that ankle hit again. I would never do it on purpose but it's kinda like a car, you got reaction time and you can't always stop on a dime when the person in front of you cuts you off or stops suddenly. Pushing a stroller in Disneyland isn't easy. I'm sorry you experienced that, but in the future maybe look around before just stopping suddenly. Just thinking of your ankles. :flower3:

I use a wheelchair as a rollator to get to the ECV rental then the ECV for the day. I can tell you that people push, shove and will not wait in the line to get around the idiots who are having a powwow in the middle of the walkway. I agree about strollers having it hard in the parks.

I have had so many people run out in front of me, stop suddenly, turn around and talk to someone behind me, and basically make ECV use hard. The same goes for parents who have idiots walk right in front of their strollers or worst lean on strollers and walk over strollers. Some people though do drive recklessly or push recklessly but for the most part it is the rude people who push and shove and make life miserable for everyone.

Please stay to the right side of the road unless directed by a CM to do otherwise. Keep up with the flow of traffic or move over. Do not run in and out of crowds. Powwows should be done on the side of walkways. Go online and study the map so that you know where you are going. Sorry for the rant but it is very hard to get around in parks for me at times.

I thought of another one...

I secretly love all the corny jokes on Jungle Cruise...don't tell! ;)

First time posting guys!!

As a DL fanatic:cheer2: , I have a hard time picking out something I don't like, but I'm not a big fan of Tomorrowland all together. I just am not interested in it and tend to fly through there rather quickly. ( Probably why I have never been on Space Mountain:rolleyes1) Ahh, feels good to get that off my chest!!!!:rotfl:

I thought of something else, I wouldn't ride the haunted Mansion or Indy till i was 15, and now there two of my faves, so I pretend I was never a big chicken.

I can understand how a mom (or anybody) with a stroller can get upset, but you have to remember i was only a kid. I was being pulled along by some relative and I had to shriek that I needed to tie my shoe, I actuall was leaned over and then boom* right in the back of the legs. So there was reaction time. Recently, I lugged around a stroller and I understand those things are pretty hard to manuever (my mom insisted on getting my sister those heavy plastic ones) but when a kid was in front of me, I stopped and was polite.

I am planning a trip to WDW for Sept.2010 and I already bought a planner guide and I am planning it right now.

Ok, I think my mania beats yours- I am planning a trip to WDW for 2012 (the year my boys graduate from high school) and I already got the Unofficial Guide to WDW so I don't have to plan at the last minute! :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Welcome cowgirlminnie!
