Your perfect trip...

I forgot about the Galapagos Islands. Those cruises are pricey. I would love to do one of those. I see a lot of people mention Australia/New Zealand. You could do a 10 cruise around New Zealand or the South Pacific for less than on off season cruise on the Fantasy. It's just the airfare that's costly.

Your $50K would cover a standard inside cabin for one person at Disney prices.

Hence the reason Disney is a bad deal for most cruises, notwithstanding the fact that they go to the same ports all year 'round.

Disney is on par, for some reason, with Viking and other luxury lines, when it comes to pricing. The main reason we continue to cruise Disney instead of an actual luxury line is I don't like a cruise line telling me I have to wear long pants and a button down shirt in public spaces after 6 pm. If I'm in the Caribbean (or any other tropical location) during the warm months, the last thing I want to do is have to put *more* clothes on.

What if you got crazy tablemates??? LOL
No really, an inside at $180 / day vs. average nursing home at $248 /day. I know what I would pick! Just keep cruising!

Princess typically seats you (or your party) by yourself. We had a two-top. The table next to us was a single and she was perfectly happy eating and texting all night.

What a great thread! I've always had two wishes if we suddenly won the lottery: one of those 70+ day cruises around the world -- the link above about the 111 day cruise on Princess would fit the bill; and another RV trip around the country but this time for more than 30 days.

my deal --- and I most definitely would need to supplement the seed 50K for this trip - by a LOT I think

While I love the idea of a sailing around the world they have SO MANY sea days compared to all the wonderful things to see on land when you do the oh so brief stops.. :(

And this, in itself, would be why I'd do it. I've said it a dozen times around here (being redundant, I know) but if the boat could go out and do circles in the ocean for the entire cruise and then come back I'd be quite happy. I pay for the floating resort I'm visiting, so I get my full use out of it while everybody else goes ashore.

Interesting question, but I really have a hard time to come up with an answer. It definitely would not be anything specifically Disney and neither a cruise, but a type of vacation that I would find difficult to budget for otherwise. I am thining island hopping in Hawaii, Bora Bora, a long trip to Alaska (ok, this might include one of the one-way Princess cruises), or even Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, Finland or Iceland), which is not far from me, but those countries are just expensive to travel in. Talking about expensive countries: I could even see myself spending the money for a nice trip to Switzerland. Since it is only two of us, I would hope that the 500000 would actually be enough for a couple of those trips...

mmmm, sea days -- I love them. Especially if your pre-cruise was spent sightseeing for several days, those sea days are a nice down time. Sleeping late, breakfast, explore the ship, nap, etc. LOL

Thats very fair - but at that point I'd choose a cheaper itinerary and just keep doing B2B2B2B2B on my favorite ship.... :sail:

I think it would..! We have done (or are doing this Christmas in the case of Bora Bora) all of those and I don't think it has been even close to 50K! Entirely depends on how fancy you go once you are there though.

Me too. Although I will say there are sea days where I make lots of plans and then spend much of the day sitting on my verandah and watching the ocean.
