Your most unusual Disney Souvenir challenge

"Temporary Ruler of the Realm" (or whatever it was called) medallion given to one of our sons by Merlin when he was picked for the Sword in the Stone ceremony.

Runner-up: Our master-bedroom furniture which is a full set from Wilderness Lodge that we bought from Mouse Surplus... complete with WL telephone.

Does Mouse Surplus ship? Is shipping expensive? I've noticed that alot of the furniture they sell is very reasonably priced!

They used to, but I'm not sure if they do anymore. It was pretty expensive. In our case the shipping was almost as much as the cost of the set. I've noticed that a lot of their furniture listings now say "Pick up only". They used to put warnings on their eBay listings to call for a shipping quote before bidding, and part of me wondered if they got tired to people not doing so and freaking out when they got the invoice with shipping added!

However, we love the furniture! We got the queen bed, nightstand, round table, two chairs, framed wall mirror, skinny dresser, armoire, patio chairs, comforter, drapes, and shower curtains. All in the original mission style that they used in WL. Last year I saw they had some WL phones (complete with the original face plates) and read that they worked on home phone lines too, so I picked one up. It works and it's funny to hear the distinctive Disney resort phone ringer sound coming from our bedroom... "Room 5134", that is!

Sure doesn't beat much but I have 3 glasses from when the castle was King Stefan's Banquet Hall and not Cinderella's Royal Table. Perfect condition.

Its not me but one of my BFF's has a 3 yr old LOL :scared1:
For myself I have a 100 yr Mickey sign that they were changing out when we were there and I asked if I could have it while they were still on the ladder : ) It is a small one used on the light poles . Its my small piece of the magic

I have a 5 yr old...souvenier of DH & my 20th anniversary trip!!!

I have the letter they put in our room during Hurrican Floyd telling us to be bring our patio furniture inside the room and put water in the bath tub incase they lost water.
We didn't get flashlights...thats fun.

We were staying at the Beach Club during Floyd;)

Not quite as interesting, but I have the letter they slid under the door after that terrorist plot to detonate liquid-based explosives on multiple planes was uncovered. It was August 2006 and was the beginning of all of the extreme limits placed on liquids brought onto planes; we were due to check out and fly home the following day, so the letter advised us to arrive at the airport several hours early and not to attempt to carry on any soda, Chap-Stick, hand lotion, etc.

LOL we still have the letter that they slipped under our door on The Disney Magic when they quarantined the ship at sea due to Norwalk.

Other than that, I have a 25th Anniversary souvenier commemorative mini-plate from Disneyland. I got it in the 70's when I took my first trip there. It's made of pewter and is about 2 - 2/12 inches across.

Oh, I also have a hatbox from the early 60's that says "Disneyland" on it. It's amazing and in incredible condition, all red with blue or black trim! I'd love to know what something like that is worth!!

I have the parking ticket from my very first trip. It was January 1978, cost 50 cents to park, and we were in the Minnie section.

It was from the 100 year MICKEY thing they did. That was a huge thing , they even had gaint Mickeys painted by famous people that toured around most of the states ( maybe all of them ?? )

So Do I win ???

You got my vote, how often does that sign get made, and who else just happened to be there when they took them down.

I still have some bags from our first trip in 1992 and a watch too. It was the 35th anniv for WDW....I have bags from lots of those early trips. :rolleyes1;)

ok...just realized those may be from Disneyland.....another year....lol.....I have a whole box of Disney souvies/bags/maps/books from all our trips back to 1990....but I haven't looked in it in a long time...

but my hurricane letter is pretty cool...the Y2K letter is awesome.........:)

I have one of the stanless steel buckets they use in Beaches and Cream to hold cream for coffee and stuff in the mornings. It has BC logo on one side and YC on the other but, besides that, looks like any other unused metal scrub bucket. I was talking to the GM one day about work and told him what a cool window display I could create in the office if they sold those buckets in the gift shop. A little later he appeared with one just for me. As expected, the window display was truly awesome but eventually dismantled and replaced. The bucket lives on today, and is still a cherished possession more than fifteen years later.

I also have a set of the balloon dishes from 1900 Park Fare. Before royalty took the place over, it was always my favorite. One year, for my birthday, the manager presented me with a dinner plate as we were leaving. It was so odd that our friends' were embarassed walking out and standing on the elevator with us b/c they were afraid people would think I'd stolen it. I can't tell you the ribbing I took for it - and still hear occassionally if the subject comes up.:rolleyes1

Several years later, my mom went with us on her first - and only - trip to the world and talked them into selling her an entire set - place settings for 8 - to go with my plate b/c I loved it so much. They had to have someone go in the back and find new china that hadn't been used... apparently they can't sell anything that people have eaten off of... as if I'd have minded :worship:...
They shipped it, so technically, I didn't get to physically bring it home myself but it is a souvie cause I WAS there. I'll also admit to being positively speechless when I got home and the box arrived - just too "practically perfect in every way!" I don't know what she paid for it but rumor has it, she could have stayed an extra 4-5 days with that money.... hmmm, maybe that's why she says she can't afford to go back with me...:lmao:

Anyway, as you might expect, it's kept safely in the china cabinet. Heaven forbid, one of the kids should try to actually eat off MY special china...

I do wish I had a Y2K flashlight though... Now that's a piece of history I'd probably pay money for on ebay!
