Your most unusual Disney Souvenir challenge

I have:

My husband (married at DL during vacation)

My Engagement ring (while on vacation at Epcot)

My job (I found out while I was in WDW)

I have a book autographed by a bunch of Imagineers that I got while vacationing at DL for an event to raise scholarships for Cal Tech (where Imagineers usually go to school).

I have other cool stuff, but I wasn't technically "on vacation" at the time of getting them. DL is just 53 minutes away from me.

how many seconds?

I see your BLUE hurricane flashlight and letter and raise you the YELLOW Y2K flashlight and letter that were placed on our pillows the morning of Dec 31, 1999, just hours before the world was going to cease to be able to function!

PS
I bought a bulb off of one of the original Main Street Electric Light Parade floats when it was retired from DL in the early 90's........not as cool as finding one tho.

:rotfl: Saying an hour makes it seem so far away! Mind you, 53 minutes is so far my best time. My worst time was just under three hours.

Stupid traffic :headache: Don't they know to get out of your way when your going to Disney!!!

Yeah, don't they know who I am?????

Oh, my other best souvenir: One of the red "crystals" that hung from the Indiana Jones Crown during the 50th Celebrations from the DL castle.

It counts because even though I wasn't on vacation, my friend who got it for me WAS on vacation. (He also got a green one for himself and a big white clear one for our other friend).

A souvenir is something acquired on vacation.

from some dictionary type website:
  • Main Entry: sou·ve·nir
  • Pronunciation: \ˈsü-və-ˌnir, ˌsü-və-ˈ\
  • Function: noun
  • Etymology: French, literally, act of remembering, from Middle French, from (se) souvenir to remember, from Latin subvenire to come up, come to mind — more at subvention
  • Date: 1782
: something that serves as a reminder

my favorite was a cinderella knife. Not a cake knife a real pen knife, though it was only about 1.5 inches long. I got it on ebay...

Then I showed it to my DL loving uncle and he told me the story of how he had one as a kid and lost it.

So I gave it to him. Almost made him cry, the big lug. Hehehehehehheee

Mikeeee

How about a tin of cookies that has goofy on the outside that I bought when I was 10. I am 34 now and its unopened with the cookies still in it?

We still have our letter too and a newspaper from that day! Did you buy mouse ear candles in case the power went out? We still have that candle too. The booze we bought is long gone though.

You should complain about the flashlight. That is not right that some of us got one and not everyone. However I will feel superior for being one of the speshul ones just the same. ;)

Blue flashlight rules ALL!

I have the newspaper clippings in my photo album from that trip along with the letter. It was big news because it was the 1st time WDW closed....until 2001....

and we were there on 9/11 too.....:scared:

we bought the MSE light bulb too...then they put the parade back together....so much for the collectible bulb:confused3;)

Got milk? :goodvibes

I am seriously wondering what they taste like.

No...got Pepto, Immodium, and some anitbiotics?:rotfl2:

My mom has tons of cool old WDW stuff that I want to memory box-tickets for individual rides from MK, Epcot maps from the year they opened, etc.

I have pieces of Illuminations. You know the spot that jets out to the water between the two gift shops? That they open usually to allow guest to sit down in.

Well it was a fairly windy day and the opened it up even though they shouldn't have. Peices of the firework shells were flying all over the place. I picked up 3 peices, and one rather large hunk. We only stayed for the first part of the show and left as the globe was coming out. I didn't want to stick around for the finale so we ducked out of there as we were already hit with a few peices. Most the cast members were trying to get guests to drop the pieces.

I also have a bottle of apple cider that the manager gave to us when we got engaged on the roof of wilderness lodge. Since I told him neither one of us drank wine, he gave us cider instead. And two delicous chocolate and white cake.... mmmmm too bad those didn't last longer.

Ohh I have one of those little felt flags from the Impress Lilly character breakfast.

Its not me but one of my BFF's has a 3 yr old LOL :scared1:
For myself I have a 100 yr Mickey sign that they were changing out when we were there and I asked if I could have it while they were still on the ladder : ) It is a small one used on the light poles . Its my small piece of the magic

um winner, on condition that you tell me how there's a 100 year Mickey sign....wasn't WDW built in 1960?

I gotta wonder how many people keep odd things but forget to put a note on them. I mean in 50 years some grandkid opens a shoebox and goes "why did grandma keep this weird little purple bulb, oh well trash it"

That would be one of the "100 Years of Magic" signs that commemorated the 100th birthday of Walt back in 2001... and featured a Mickey Mouse.

This one settles the flashlight contest - Y2K can only happen once, hurricanes can happen any year.

I bought a MSELP lightbulb too. I still have it.

"

It was from the 100 year MICKEY thing they did. That was a huge thing , they even had gaint Mickeys painted by famous people that toured around most of the states ( maybe all of them ?? )

So Do I win ???

THANK the Lord you remembered because I had already called my DH at the Fire Station to see where that banner was packed up LOL . We have not unpacked most of the Disney stuff . We moved in Oct. and just have not done up the spare bedrooms yet . I knew it was here somewhere though :wizard:
