I was just reading the most foolish purchase thread and was cracking up about it! It made me think of things that I have spent money on that were expensive, but that I DON'T regret.

1. Le Creuset cookware- it brings me joy every time I cook, and it cleans up beautifully
2. North Face jacket- I have had it three years and it still looks brand new, I love love love it!
3. My mini daschund- total impulse buy, buy brings constant joy!

Merck stock....when I bought it, it was paying an 8% dividend. Its gone up in price, but the dividend is the same, so I'm still getting an 8% return on what I put in - plus the stock appreciation. As long as it doesn't pull an Enron, I'm a happy camper.

Our Invisable Fence for our labs! It's great, no leashes, no mowing around a fence or worrying about them jumping over it and it gives them freesom of the whole yard. We tried a cheaper route with one we bought at a pet store and it was a nightmare.

Our Roku for watching Netflix instantly to our television. We don't have cable (just the basic networks) and this little gadget was only a 1-time fee. So for $100 we get endless hours of entertainment. Of course we pay for netflix too but that is only $15 and we would have had it anyways for the DVD rentals!

George Foreman Grill -- love it!
Bread Machine - nothing beats fresh bread!
Nautica Bed Set and curtains - love, love, love it!

I was waiting for a prescription to be filled at Publix and noticed a hair cutting kit marked down to about $7. It's fantastic, works beautifully, and has saved us a small fortune.

Also, a few years back, I bought a dress at a church's second-hand boutique. I paid around $5 but it is a size 6 and didn't quite fit. I liked it so much I was inspired to lose the 10 pounds I needed to fit into it, and it's still one of my favorite dresses!

The magic bullet! Ok, it was a gift not a purchase, but we love it. We do a ton of yogurt smoothies and ice cream shakes in it. Yes, its not everything it the commercial makes it out to be, but we totally use it to death and love it.

1. $200 for lifetime Tivo membership
2. Sleep Number bed - to sleep pain free, priceless!
3. Stainless look toaster oven - looks good and keeps me from using the big oven for most everything I make.
4. My drying rack - $20 and has paid for itself more times than I can count
5. My Mac laptop - I love this thing!

Paula Deen copper bottom pots--who knew food could be so good!!!

My $6000 trip to WDW--it was a once in a lifetime trip for us, though we've been many times before and since, but this was our last big blow out before DS19 and DD18 got grown. It was memories we'll never forget so I can't say a dime of it was wasted.

We sacrificed to get a home early in marriage (no car--took bus
everywhere for two years, etc.) But we've lived here for
23 years and now it is paid for. We are grateful in this
economy with husband's lay off to have a safe home
that is ours.

Also, a down comforter. We can cut the electricity way down at
night and still be warm.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but can you give me an idea of how much a Sleep Number bed cost? We slept on one at the Radisson in Boston and had THE best sleep. I keep wondering what it would cost...

I had to pull our paperwork to see exactly what we paid...I had forgotten!

We bought a King sized, 7000 series (they make different versions) for $3550. Then we also bought their mattress pad that helps even out body temps ($240), the "frame/legs" for $88, and a single contour pillow for me $112.

We opted to have the bed delivered by UPS and install it ourselves. The install process means that you essentially put the bed together. Whoever wrote the instructions for the bed was a genius...it was the EASIEST thing I've ever assembled, hands down.

I went from waking up in pain after about 4 hours of sleep to being able to sleep a good 8 hours most days. It turns out that my DH and I like completely different mattress styles. I like mine really firm (sleep number 95) while he's more of a softy (#45). So that pillow top that he loved, was killing me. This way we're both happy.

Thanks for going through all that trouble to look it up, I guess I'll have to put this on my "lottery winnings wishlist". It is an excellent bed, I will say that...

Disney Vacation Club

It was a total impulse buy. I loved Disney and made DH go one day with me when I was pregnant with our first - as he road the rides I couldn't ride - I talked to the DVC guys. A week later we bought and have never once regretted it! Sometimes we price out vacations without it but always come to the conclusion that although we might be able to stay at the Values or off-site for less - we love being in the Deluxe resorts. It also makes sure that we go every year.

Now DH is like me and is bummed if we go more than 12 months without a trip!

1) My Firenza dishes. I got them on clearance at JcPenneys, I was using cheap Corelle, but when the kids would break one they would shatter into a million pieces. When the kids break these they break into large chunks, easy to clean up and no cut feet, plus I can buy replacement pieces on replacements.com.

2) Cuisinart griddle/grill. We use it at least twice a week, it's so easy to clean and it makes it easier to cook for our large family.

3) Mickey Mouse waffle iron. I can make and freeze waffles for the week, plus it makes us smile, priceless.

4) a dresser DH and I found at a yard sale for $100 about 13 years ago. We have moved it about 10 times and it is still in excellent condition, sturdy and solid.

5) my kids' sports and activities. They've gained so much confidence and skills from these, these would be some of the last things to go if we had to cut the budget.
