Your Funniest Memories?

dinner at contemporary character buffet..chip and dale( guessing young male cms) 4 teen aged girls, only patrons in place late in evening. the girls couldn't even get up to get food without being chased around and around and around the entire restaraunt! manager kept coming out to "speak" with Cand D about it but they were being very bad little chipmunks! we all got a good laugh about it though even if the girls were screaming ( laughing) so loud they probably heard them at epcot.

I think this counts more as cute than funny, but I'll post it anyway. Last aug week took my ds, then 1 1/2, to WDW for the first time. He was in love with the characters from the first minute we saw them. Well about mid trip we took him to Toontown Hall of Fame right when it openned in the morning. We went in to see Minnie, Chip, & Dale. Some how we ended up being the only ones in the room. Well my ds met Minnie last and did NOT want to let her go. So we told him it was time to go and he led Minnie right out the door. A CM soon followed and told Minnie she needed to come back. Minnie hesitated and hung on to my DS. Finally she let go and walked backwards blowing him kisses and waving until she was back in the other room. I get teary-eyed thinking of how sweet Minnie was to my DS. I know it is a great memory I will never forget.

Ok, both of these silly stories are at my expense...

1. Sitting on the Main St. curb waiting for the afternoon parade and one of those lovely birds decides to go potty on my head. My mother said, 'whatever you do, don't move' and as it was close to parade time there were, of course, tons of people around. It was like slo-mo... as I'm trying to figure out what happened about 4,000 hands with those tiny paper napkins come at us from all directions... everyone helped (believe it or not) to clean me up. I felt like I was about 4 years old - but it is one of our fave stories (and people can be SO nice!) and it never fails to make my mom giggle.

2. Waiting in a huge line for Space Mountain and my mom, brother and I are finally about to get on (it was the left side of the ride) - brother is closest to the front, then mom, then me bringing up the back. So, here comes our ride and I go to climb in, by grabbing what SEEMED like a sturdy bar to hold onto while climbing DOWN into the seat. Well, it was the lap bar that is 'loose' until you lock it into place. How about I absolutely fell face forward into the seat and was totally mortified. I caused quite a scene for the people waiting in line (as we all know, all you have to do after waiting for so long is watch people board the ride) - but the worst part was my family didn't see a thing and were just staring forward waiting for the ride to take off, like nothing happened. What's the fun if you have to lean forward, tap your mother on the shoulder and say, 'hey, I just took a totally humiliating digger in front of an enormous crowd, but I'm ok!' - Um, I'm pretty careful with my technique in boarding that particular ride now...

This didnt happen at a park, but is disney related....

I have been on a search for a costume to wear to MNSSHP this year, well I found a tink costume I liked but it showed a little bit of skin, so I emailed a picture to my friend to see what she thought, well her husband interecepted the email and instant messeages me that he thought it was cute, but not disney material. I was shocked!! He was the last person I thought would say not to wear the costume. Well we keep instant mesaging and my friend (his wife) comes in and questions him as to why he thought I shouldnt wear the costume. It turns out that he had no idea we were going to the halloween party and thought Iwas just going to go prancing down mainstreet USA in a fairly skimpy tink costume on any old day! I laughed so hard, and asked him what he was thinking, and he just said "Well I knew you were a disney freak!"

By the way...I deceided against the costume!!

I originally posted this on the "most shocking" thread but it is pretty funny so I will put a copy here too. It is buried pretty deep (page 26) in that thread. I hope that the Tag Fairy does NOT see this post.

I read every page (on most shocking thread) wondering if I would read about someone who saw some some fools driving up and parking behind the NY taxicab parked in the fake street at All Star Movie resort.

Several years ago, I arrived very late at MCO and my cousin and aunt who had arrived earlier picked me up. We drove to ASMo. It was fairly new then, and we had not been there and were not sure where to go.

We saw a turn in and drove around the building and parked behind the taxi. It seemed odd that there were no other cars there. I went with my aunt to go take the suitcases to the room. My poor cousin then tried to leave. She said she drove around the swimming pool several times trying to find a way out while the people in the pool stared in disbelief.

The next morning we looked out in the daylight hours and realized to our horror that we had turned on to a SIDEWALK. I promise that NO alcohol was involved whatsoever. I thought that we were going to fall off the walkway when we realized what we had done.

For the rest of the trip (and for many years later) it has been a family joke about driving right up to the building.

These are really cute.
I have another one.
While we were eating breakfast at CP's all the character were making their way around. When Eeyore made it to our table my younger son handed him his autograph book and pen. ( I didn't know at the time that fat pens were best). So here is poor Eeyore struggling to try to see the book and sign his name. My older son thought this was hysterical and couldn't stop laughing which stating me laughing and poor Eeyore was having such a hard time. Well, my younger son looks at me and says "Sssshhhh, Mom look your making Eeyore sad."

How about meeting a guy(my age) at PI who's a dead ringer for James Marsters(Spike).I said so and he even through it was funny:)

The Pink Flamingo peddle boats in AK. My daughter and I got to the pier - and that's when I found out it is not easy getting out of a boat. I had to crawl out. The people in the boat behind us (again, a Mother and Daughter) had the same problem. Somehow "the two Mums" who had just crawled out the boars got tangled up and in an effort to help each other off the ground, someone slipped, and the pair of us landed back where we had started. We then started to laugh, and couldn't get up. I don't think my daughter has ever forgiven me for this whereas I still laugh about it.

A few years ago my family was at MK and it was my first trip back since I was 10. I couldn't wait to ride Peter Pan. My DH and I took the first car and my 2 DSs hopped in the car behind. I prodded my DH saying "please hop out and take the kids picture". Which he did and on his quick return got stuck sideways in the car when the bar automatically locked. He will never forgive me for being more interested in Peter Pan and the view of London than in trying to help him escape the grips of that bar. We still laugh out loud when we think of the CM shaking his head when we arrived at the exit.

Thanks for your note. Why is it that the funniest memories are always at the expense of our loved ones?

"Why is it that the funniest memories are always at the expense of our loved ones?" by Donald's #1 Fan.

well here is a story that is all me. It begins with me bing a teenaged girl (15) and my sister being 20. We decide that since we have been to WDW so many times and never do 20K Leagues that we are going to try it. As we were waiting in the line, we notice that there are only young, gorgeous guys working there. ( maybe the "sailor" uniform has something to do with it?!). They treated us so well...helped us climb into the ship and graciously made sure we were ok. ( I think that they were glad that we were around...it seemed like the only other people on the ride were elderly and about 4 of them...wierd). My sister and I are thinking that we are "hot stuff" now. So, anyhow, we ride the ride laughing the whole way on how "cheezy" it was blah blah blah.
We finally come back to the dock and they were all waiting there to help us off the boat...they offered their hands out for us...and all that. They shout out goodbye..come back again.
Here's where my moment of glory comes in! As we are walking out through the exit "lines", I walk SMACK into a pole that holds one the changes to reshape the lines. You could have heard that SMACK on Main street. All of a sudden our cute sailors come running over and Shout “are you alright??? Are you ok?? Do you need some help??” and they start coming over towards me.
At this point, being the 15 year geek that I am who just walked into a pole, I wanted to die right there.
I just shouted back….”no, I am ok…just clutzy” and my sister is just laughing away at me.

To this, I will never live it down. But it is such a great memory!

Thank you so very much for making me laugh. It is the Disney Magic you know!! Somehow one is allowed to do comical things in that wonderful place. Five weeks on Friday we go to visit the Mouse, and time is crawling. I am so excited.

This was at Chef Mickeys 2 years ago. We were on our way out after finishing our meal, and my then DD6 wanted to see Donald in the lobby area. Well while we were waiting for Donald, Goofy came up to my DH and put his nose very close to my DH face, sort of to stare him down. Well my DH decided to very lightly head-butt Goofy in the nose (I have no idea why). Well Goofy grabbed his nose and ran around the lobby holding it, and waving his arms, shaking his head...he did not like that at all! My DH apolojized to Goofy and told him he hoped he didnt hurt him. Well I guess that wasnt good enough for Goofy because while my DH was videotaping my DD with Donald, Goofy kept coming up behind my DH and making rabbit ears behind his head, waving his arms, and doing all sorts of exagerated moves. Well everyone in the lobby is laughing and pointing at this and my DH is clueless! He is just smiling and taping Donald and my DD who have stopped visiting by now to watch Goofy. I was laughing so hard trying to get all these pics with the camera. Finally my DD said "Dad, Goofy's making fun of you!" My DH turned around and "caught" Goofy in the act, we were all rolling it was so funny. We look at those pics often. And I am glad to say my DH and Goofy did makeup with a big hug before we left.

Muppets 3d, not sure if this is part of the show or if I just look that dumb that this happened. we were in the first row in the very beginning of the show and I think the old men in the balcony were saying something.any way my attention was directed to the right of the theater. when I turned back around to face the front again that big 7 ft. tall shaggy muppet's face was about an inch from my own. it scared me so bad I left out a shriek, no doubt permanently damaging that cm's hearing and was ready to bolt out of that theatre. of course the entire theatre roared. nothing like over reacting but we laugh about it now that the 'trauma" is over(lol)

Thank you so very much for sharing your experience. These memories are so important and really are part of the holiday.

Your responses are really very comical. Thank you all so very much for brightening my day.

Around 1980 I was at WDW with my best friend. We were in the shop behind the castle (Sir Mickey's?) looking at the plushes. There was a display with small and medium Mickeys all surrounding a giant Mickey. We moved one or two of the little ones while browsing and the giant Mickey started to tip forward. We tried to rearrange everything to get giant Mickey supported again but he just kept leaning forward. Finally, we just pushed him up and ran out before a CM saw us. We never went back into that store to see what happened. To this day, I still wonder if giant Mickey toppled over the whole display.

Story #2
My wife and I were at the old Chef Mickey's in the village having lunch. She lifted up the ketchup bottle to shake it up for her burger. Problem was the lid wasn't screwed on. All of a sudden, there was ketchup EVERYWHERE! She was covered. The table was covered. I was splattered. Our camera was covered. We were both hysterical. She was wearing a nice airbrushed Sorcerer Mickey t-shirt that she still has - it still has ketchup stains and we laugh whenever she wears it.

I also have two funny memories.

First, my best friend and I were meeting Minnie and I went to take a pic of them together, and then got Minnie's autograph, but what had happened, and I never noticed, I had my finger on the lens of the camera, and Minnie mentioned this in the autograph. Needless to say, I had to retake the picture, and to this day I still have the picture of "my finger", lol!!!

Secondly, we were in Capt Jacks for lunch the day we were leaving, and actually, there were two funny memories there. One, we were watching a cm chase after a penny that kept rolling along the floor, and we couldn't stop laughing at that one. The second one, after we finally calmed down, I picked up one of my park maps, and lifted it and looked at her under the map (like I was shading my eyes with it). Well, Beth got the giggles right there, and of course I started laughing!!! I tried that little trick with her recently, and it still works, lol!!!

Your funny moments are getting better and better. I am sure that the CMs could fill a book with their recollections of some of the things we ever so happy travellers and visitors to the World actually get up to and the amazing things that seem to happen to all of us.

I have a couple of them, but the best one happened to us with DD then 3 on Kali River Rapids. DD was tall enough to ride, but she had to get the wristband indicating she needed the "child" seat. So we get all settled with DH sitting right next to DD, and me on her other side in the next set of seats. We enjoyed the ride and DD was having a great time, then we got to the drop. This was our forst time on Kali so we didn't know that whoever went down the drop backwards got the wettest. Well, we were backwards. But the worst of the wave hit DD. You literally could draw a line down the middle of me and DH where we were soaked on one side and dry on the other. Unfortunately DD was between us. We go back to where MIL is waiting with the stroller and she bursts out laughing at our poor drown rat DD. We still have pictures of that event! Fortunately we had brought a change of clothes for DD, so she wasn't soaked for the rest of the day!

Since then I have ridden Kali a few more times, and I have noticed that the "child" seat ends up backwards most of the time. Nice to know if you want to get really wet or not!
