Your First Vacation

I'm honestly not entirely sure where the first would be. We used to do things nearby like a theme park 2 hours away. But nothing too big when I was little.

In 1987 (age 6) we went to WDW but only because my grandparents basically paid for it. That was the first BIG vacation and my first time on an airplane.

I really can’t remember my first vacation, but it was most likely in Wildwood, NJ. My family went there every summer for many years.

The first I specifically remember was in 1967 when I was 6 years old. Expo 67 in Montreal and Lake George, NY on the way back. We drove.

First airplane vacation 1968 to Miami.

First Disney: 1975 during Spring Break. 8th grade. I celebrated my 14th birthday there.

First as an adult: I suppose the trip to Poland and Denmark with various family members after college graduation.

I did go to Florida twice during Spring Breaks in college, but I really wasn’t an “adult” then.

My first real vacation that I remember was when my grandparents paid for my family to go to the Pocono mountains for a long weekend when I was eight. I remember two things chiefly about this trip. The first was that we stayed at Holiday Inn and the swimming pool was shaped like a snowman. The second was that my Dad decided it was a good idea for us to watch House of Wax with Vincent Price and then put me and my sister to bed in a strange place with the lights out. I remember sleeping with the hotel bible, hahaha.

My first real 'adult' trip was to WDW in October 1992.

My family vacationed in Ocean City, Maryland every summer.

One year in the early 1960s we went to Virginia Beach in addition to or instead of Ocean City. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel was still under construction and we took the ferry. I still have some photos and 8mm home movies of the trip.

First trip to Disney was in 1978 during college Spring Break. Only the Magic Kingdom existed then. First Disneyland in California was in 1986.

Besides camping and family stuff the first big vacation was WDW when I was like 9 or 10.

I’m not sure. Probably it was either camping in the Poconos or Long Beach Island, where my aunt used to rent a house every summer for a couple of weeks. We also used to take day trips down to Baltimore or DC, or to visit family in Virginia. The first big vacation was to Disney World at age 5. I remember getting up at 4 am to catch a flight and being SO excited.
I’ve always tried to prioritize travel, so I sold candy for a French Club trip to Quebec City in 8th grade and did a year in high school as an exchange student to Belgium. First vacation for nothing but leisure was backpacking through Europe junior year of college.
As an adult my first trip to Disney was taking my kids in 2016 along with my parents and my sister. DVC followed shortly!

Went to a family celebration in Bells Corner, Canada with both parents. Age approximately 8 months old. I remember nothing.

Next few trips were to Saratoga Springs with Nana and Papa where they owned a house they summered in. Ages 4 to 8. Fleeting memories but all good.
