Your Favorite Vacation, other Than Disney

We love Vegas!! We went there on our honeymoon and we have been back several times since.

Other than Disney? umm.... Universal? :confused3

Seriously though, last summer we went to a luxury dude ranch that was pretty cool and this summer we are going on a 10 day Princess Cruise in the British Isles. :goodvibes

A couple of years ago we went on an Alaskan Cruise, Alaska is gorgeous :sunny:

A few years ago, I would have said our trip to Yellowstone in 1999. But this summer we took our 2 teen DSs (15 and 16) and went to Las Vegas, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, and Sedona. It really was wonderful. We did so much hiking. Our meals were relaxed and the conversations were so enjoyable. We had the best meal in a little town just outside of Zion. I will never forget that view with the full moon over the red rocks. Something about getting on those trails in the national parks-no one knows where we are except the four of us. :cloud9:

AAhhhh-such good memories!

We loved our sailing trip to the British Virgin Islands....it was awesome.....we also really love Vegas and spending weekends at B & Bs in New England.....

I have two favorites: Hawaii and London. They're so different, I can't choose one over the other. I went to Hawaii on my honeymoon and studied abroad in London. Hawaii is like the ultimate getaway for me and London is like a second hometown. They're both special places to me.
:cloud9:

My husband has said his favorite vacation was the Alaska cruise we took in 2004.

We really enjoyed a long weekend in the Chicago area last summer.

Just about the same here!! My favorite one place is Yellowstone but if you're going to go there you might as will do the Tetons, Jackson Hole, Glacier, Devils Tower, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse and the Badlands. And if you're into torture/boredom visit the Corn Palace. :thumbsup2

I knew I was leaving something out! We did also see Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and even the Corn Palace. My boys would have to agree with you about the Corn Palace being torture! Oh, and Wall Drug, too!

We did Las Vegas in 2004 and had a great time.

However- every time I turn around, DH is wanting me to plan another trip to NYC!

I'm doing one now for our anniversary in July (we're staying a whole week this time)- and I've already got tix for 5 shows! And the hotel, and the plane tix!!

Meltdown time.....

We have done many great trips (3 weeks in Australia, probably the best) but the only other location we return to with regular frequency is VEGAS Baby! We get there almost every year.

My favorite "other" vacations have been when we have traveled out west. I LOVE the deserts of AZ, NV, and UT. I love being in LA (for a visit).

For us it would have to be a criuse :boat: (probably to anywhere). We have done 2 (not even Disney) to the Caribbean, and they have been great. Of coarse Disney would always be my first choice  :earsgirl:

Carribean cruise. Always wanted to go to Grenda since I had a 4th grade penpal there. It took me years to get there but I did and it is a beautiful country. We horseback rode on the beach in St. Lucia on our honeymoon. Wonderful time!

# 2 would be Glacier National Park in Montana, so spectacular!
# 3 any National Park in the southwest as other posters have mentioned: Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion, Mesa Verde
# 4 Yellowstone National Park
# 5 Shenandoah National Park, Acadia National Park
# 6 Adirondacks, New York
# 7 Isle Royale, Lake Michigan - get there by ferry or boat only, super place to relax hike and see moose
# 8 any beach anywhere almost

We just got back from spending two weeks in Marco Island, Fl. I must say it was the most relaxing, enjoyable trip I've had in a long time. The island is beautiful. The beaches were fantastic and great for shelling. We probably brought home about fifty sand dollars and lots of beautiful shells!

Every year we head up to Celebrate the 4th of July in Niagara on the Lake, Canada.

It's beautiful wine country area. :)
:thumbsup2

We have been to all the islands, but NOTL
is such a wonderful place.

Less than 2 weeks to see Mickey WDW!!! :sunny: :moped:
Cannot wait for DD and Candy Cauldron!
"THOSE CARMEL APPLES" the best!!! :yay:
YUMMMIE!

Disney is definitely our family's favorite, but if we had to choose another vacation it would be NYC. We love new york. china town, empire state building, the shows and american girl place plus more. My kids love it too. :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc

I enjoy spending time at Universal Florida. I've even been there more than at WDW in the last few years. Hey, it's newer for us and less costly. :thumbsup2

Other than that, I love hanging out in the Ozarks. I'd live there if I could.

Another favorite is New Orleans. I hope that it will continue to be so. :(

Outer Banks, North Carolina. Good fishing and relaxing. Enjoyed hiking the dunes around sunset, climbing the lighthouse and driving to Okracoke.

Seven year old daughter still talks about the trip to Wyoming. Hiking in the Grand Tetons and riding down an alpine slide in Jackson Hole.

Hawaii -- whenever my buddy's ship is in port and we can find the money to go visit. Otherwise, we love heading to Rochester, New York and the Fingerlakes area. We've made Canandaigua and the Naples Grape Festival a fall tradition, and it's a perfect "small-town" fair. Rochester's Strong Muesum is a favorite of my DS, and I like to kick a few back and get my paws a bit dirty at Dinosaur's...
