Howdy! I'm new here, so throw me a bone! lol

My family of 8 (6 adults, and 4 year old twins) is going to Disney in May. My family only seems to want to eat at restaurants in Epcot... which I'm sure are fine! But we've got the dining plan, and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, etc? All I ask is that it isn't a dinner show, or anything else that counts for 2 table service meals. We only want to use one big meal a day. ;)

AT MK I would suggest Crystal Palace..or just a monorail ride away to the polynesian resort at eat a great character breakfast at O'hana....dinner there does not have characters, but have heard the meal there is quite good also....Or Chef Mickey's at the Contemp. I don't really have suggestions for the Animal Kingdom...we had lunch at Tusker House, and we won't ever be back there.
We loved 50s Prime Time Cafe in HS. Good luck!

We did breakfast at Tusker House in AK and LOVED it! It was probably my favorite character dining of our trip. We also enjoyed Liberty Tree Tavern in MK. It is no longer a character dining but we liked the atmosphere/food so much that we are doing it again next summer, characters or not! ;)

As a frequent Disney-goer who always does the dining plan, here are my favs:

Epcot:
Coral Reef
Via Napoli
Tutto Italia

MK:
Tonys Town Square
Crystal Palace
Liberty Tree Tavern

HS:
Hollywood & Vine
Mama Melrose
Sci-Fi Dine In Theater

AK:
am eating at Yak & Yeti for the first time in 3 weeks
Not a fan of Tusker House, even for the character breakfast
LOVE Rainforest Cafe, though NOT on dining plan

Resorts:
Cape May Cafe - Beach Club
Ohana (my personal FAV) - Polynesian
Chef Mickeys - (DS3's personal FAV) - Contemporary
Whispering Canyon Cafe - Wilderness Lodge

My thoughts.
MK, IMO has no memorable one credit TS restaurants. Crystal Palace is a character meal but the food is only so so and we don't like buffets. Liberty Tree is good and for us, it's be the top TS option. OTOH, MK has one of the best places to use your CS options, at least from a value standpoint. That is Cosmic Rays which has a Chicken Rib Platter that's plenty of food to share for most people plus, they have a lot of choices and we really like Disney's burger bars. We also like the Columbia Harbour House.

EPCOT, I'd be there with your family eating most meals. My top choice there is Le Cellier but only for lunch because it's now 2 credits for dinner. I can't think of a sit down there I dislike though we aren't big fans of chinese food. They also have some of the best locations to use CS options including Seasons, La Cantina and Tangierine cafe. Yorkshire Fish doesn't have a kids meal so it's often a great place to get more value and choice from your kids credits.

DHS is hit or miss for us. We really enjoy 50's Prime Time, the food is good and the atmosphere is nostalgic. Sci Fi is also an experience but we find we don't like the food there and it could be scary for the 4 y/o. We find Mama Melrose is just OK, we used to really like it there but the last few times it's been so so at best. There are no good CS options there IMO.

AK, not a lot for sit down here. Yak and Yeti's is different and I do like it. We haven't been to Tusker House since they changed the format but we're not big buffet people. Flametree is a very good option for a Counter service as is the Anandapur cafe.

Disney Hotels, ignoring signatures, I'd say O'hana for breakfast, less for dinner. Sanaa, Whispering Canyon, Boatwrights. Most hotel restaurants, esp the better ones, aren't open for lunch. While I wouldn't use a TS credit, we really like ESPN for the Teriyaki wings (and we're not big wing people). Best CS option is Pepper Market at Coronado Springs.

DTD and Disney's West Side, Wolfgang Puck cafe is our top choice, we also like T-Rex much better than Rainforest partly because we think the food is much better which is surprising considering they're similar restaurants 100 yards a part owned by the same company. Neither of the Landry's restaurants (T Rex, Rainforest) are on the DDP IIRC. Wolfgang Puck Express (2 locations) and Cookes of Dublin will be the best CS options for that area.

We loved eating the AK Tusker House lunch buffet with the Nemo seating package since my son loves that show. Much better going in there with the preferred seating by making your lunch at Tusker around 1:15 or 1:30 (check reservation for exact time period). Oh, and we really liked the buffet for lunch, plenty of options for all.

Here are our favorite restaurants.

MK:
- Crystal Palace Breakfast
- CRT dinner
- LTT Lunch

Epcot:
- Le Cellier (lunch)
- Chefs De France Lunch
- Corral Reef dinner
- Tuto Italia Dinner
- Via Napoli for either lunch or dinner
- Akershus Breakfast

DHS:
- Sci Fi lunch
- Mama Melrose for either lunch or dinner (we usually do this place with Fantasmic dining)

AK:
- Tusker House Lunch (we like to do the Nemo dining package)

Resorts:
- Cali Grill
- Cape May Cafe Breakfast
- Artist Pointe
- Yachtsman's Steakhouse

Our favorites:

Kona - breakfast is so yummy! (Although not always worth the TS credit you'd use. We typically pay OOP for this one.)

Raglan Road - Very festive and fun when the band is playing and the dancer is on stage. The food is great and the bread pudding is amazing!

Tokyo Dining - I think this is an unsung hero in the dining arena. It gives a wonderful taste of Japanese culture, and the food and service were great!

Boma - Delicious with lots of adventurous and different options! They also have a safe zone with chix fingers and such. We always make a point to try a bite of everything, and we've found some surprisingly good different foods! YUM!

Via Napoli - Lovely atmosphere with great service! Very Italian atmosphere, and the food is better than most Italian restaurants I've ever been to!

Tusker House - Character breakfast is lots of fun with good food and lots of character interaction!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! :D

So far, we've decided on Ohana and Teppan Edo for sure!

We're also thinking about Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, Biergarten Restaurant, Nine Dragons Restaurant, Tutto Italia Ristorante, Liberty Tree Tavern, 50's Prime Time Café, and Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater.

Sadly, we're only going 7 days, so we can't see them all... XD

I have never eaten at Nine Dragons, but people I trust tell me that I have made the right decision in staying away. There are much better places to eat in Epcot. Akershus is a great Princess breakfast. Chefs de France is probably my favorite TS in Epcot for lunch/dinner.

I was not impressed with 50s Prime Time Café.

I'd also add to the chorus for Tusker House in AK. Sanaa is another great choice, IMHO, over at AKV.
