I am trying to decide what kind of bag to use while touring the park. Our son is 9 so we won't have a stroller, but I will want to have some items with me such as extra water, snacks etc. We are there at the end of September, so I am also trying to keep the heat in mind. What do you use?

I've used this bag the last couple of trips. It's got lots of space so you can pack it full (rain gear, sunscreen, snacks, whatever!) but it's also very lightweight material. I find a crossbody bag more comfortable than a backpack for long, humid park days.

I can't remember where I bought my bag (maybe amazon?) but it was nowhere near the price listed on Lug's website. Check around, you should be able to find it for less than half price.

Back pack - I have neck and back issues so a cross-body bag is just too heavy for park-hopping. I have a Vera Bradley polyester back pack that DH and I take turns carrying - its not terribly feminine. When I get home I throw it in the washing machine and its as good as new.

I'm partial to cross body bags myself because you don't have to take them off to get to items. There are some good options out there like the Travelon bags or the Vera Bradley cross body bags. It depends on how much you plan to carry though; because a backpack can be easier to carry larger loads. For a backpack I prefer my CamelBak day pack (without the water; I use a water bottle with filter for that). Good luck!

Thanks! I'm torn because I didn't really want a backpack due to the potential heat, but I do want to carry around some essentials including a few snacks. I'm leaning towards a cross body bag or I also have a regular size lunch kit to use for snacks that has a cross body strap and a light weight drawstring backpack bag.

I've always used a backpack. Not one like carrying books in though. The one I've used last was the Mickey Vera Bradley backpack. It's lightweight but not practical in the rain. I'm thinking of getting a LUG, specifically crossbody, for our next trip. Amazon and QVC sell LUG.

I recently purchased a Lily Bloom Gigi Mini Crossbody bag from JC Penney. The designs are pretty cute but overall I love the fact that there are multiple pockets and that it is made of a water resistant material. Price wise it was pretty decent and I was able to find some coupons to use at JC Penny as well. There is a larger sized bag called the Camilla Crossbody for those who have a little bit more they are looking to carry at the parks.
