Pre-planning stage for my next trip involves choosing a moderate resort. I desperately need opinions. I want to hear the good, bad, ugly, fantastic - all of it. Thanks. :flower:

We have stayed at CBR and POR. WE enjoyed them both.

CBR-is very big but they have an internal bus. We enjoyed the theming and the walk to the food court at night to fill our mugs. Tehn we sat on the beach and watched the fireworks. The lake is beautiful. No porblem with buses to the parks.

POR-we stayed here when it was Dixie landing. Loved the southern theming. We will be staying here again before our cruise in Sept 2006. They have a boat to DTD.
:goodvibes

THE PROS
No sharing bus service with other resorts
Centrally located with short rides to the parks
Largest hot tub on WDW property
Awesome main pool area with bar, snack bar, playground and kiddie pool

High speed internet service
WiFi available too
Free use of the gym
Spa
Fridge in the room
Coffeemaker in the room
Iron and ironing board
full room service menu
2 arcades
beautifully landscaped
central air, not a noisey wall unit

THE CONS
Full size beds (kings size beds are available)
one sink

IN THE MIDDLE
The Pepper Market is either a love it or hate it place. We love it but some folks just don't care for it.

Convention resort - some guests don't like seeing other guests at work. Doesn't bother us and helps keep the buses empty. GF, Cont, BW, Y & B Club are also convention resorts.

Check out my website below

My Fave is CBR...I love the palm trees and the relaxed atmosphere.
we have always stayed in Martinique....not a bad walk to OPR and each Isaland has its own bus stop so very short walk to that.
The only time I ever did not like the bus was at MK closing....but I think that is a problem at most of the resorts... crowded/standing.
I like the separate Custom House/Check in. One we check in ..we never see anyone checking in/out again.....for me this adds to my relaxation......
This past trip we drove and everything was pre paid so once we checked in we never went back there....
The old sit down restaurant had a nicer atmosphere and we did not try shutters this time.

I also stayed at Dixie landings and enjoyed it...but missed my palm trees.
The boat to DTD is fantastic...and although we did not get to appreciate it(young children with us) the bar and entertainment is a plus....the bus was the same quality as CBR.

We did not stay but visited CSR this past trip..... the first thing we walked in to was loud music coming from a conventon exhibit room and conventioneers with their badges....so this did not appeal to me....just a very different feel...all hustle and bustle at lobby/ food court/ convention center....
very different than my CBR feel....
but I am sure with the Disney themeing that the resort is also great....
I would stay there but not as my first choice.....

Have fun deciding!!! :cool1:

Thanks for all the info so far. Please keep 'em coming. :cool1:

We have stayed twice at POR and everyone in our group from age 7 to 65 loved it there. It has a very laid back Southern Charm and it is so peaceful to return to after a hectic day at the parks. Also the breakfasts at Boatwrights are THE best I've ever had. The blueprint omlette is incredible and the Sweet Potato pancakes with pecan butter melt in your mouth. Another great feature about POR is you get two theme pools, if you count the POFQ pool which POR guests are allowed to use as well. It's about a 10 minute walk from the main bldg of POR to the POFQ pool area or there is also a boat between the resorts. You can also take a boat to DTD and it's a beautiful relaxing ride, nice change of pace from the busses. The bus service is good too, we were there over Spring Break, before and after Easter and we only waiting for a bus more than 5 minutes once at the resort. Coming back from the parks at busy times was sometimes longer. You can also check out Bob Jackson, the fun for all ages piano man in the River Roost Lounge at POR.
I'm sure whichever moderate you choose, you'll find things to love. If you love lush landscaping, lazy rivers and magnolias, POR's the place for you. POFQ has a New Orleans theme and is smaller than POR. Hope that helps!

I Looove POR-that has always been one of my favorites! Alas, I have been spoiled by the larger resorts because I like king size beds! We have one at home and anything smaller drives us nuts! After 21 years of marriage, I like my "space" :rotfl2: Getting back to POR, the atmosphere is absolutely the best, you feel like you are thousands of miles away from everything (but you know you really aren't). If we could get king size beds and still be able to sleep 4, I would go back in heart beat! Food is awesome too!

We LOVED CBR -- in fact, my DS14 and DS11 say we have to stay there on our next trip. Check out the 2 FAQ threads on CBR -- they'll tell you everything you need to know. Nothing but good things to say about the resort -- it was a vacation within our vacation!

I enjoyed CBR and have stayed there twice, once before kids once with a 15mos old. I like the bus system, it is very rapid and we very rarely waited long for a bus. Rooms were clean and well maintained the food court, was great.

Our favorite is CSR. We enjoyed our stay in the ranchos. We were in cabana 6b next to the main pool. Great resort!

Coronado Springs... hands down.

You can have your nice little view of the section your room is in, or a short walk to Lago Dorado gives you an awesome view, basically the whole resort. There is no little island blocking views of anything, and the rooms are spread out and not crammed all together. This open view provides a beautiful night time stroll. Great frozen margaritas. Good bus service. Closest bus load at Magic Kingdom. Great quiet and main pool.

Just got home from CSR ~ bus service was very bad. We heard complaints from many guests about it. MK service was especially bad. Wednesday morning I waited at Bus stop #1 for 45 minutes .... In that time period, 14 other buses arrived for all the other destinations. I finally took a bus to Epcot and transferred to the monorail. Took me 90 minutes to get from CSR to MK.
Yesterday I took a bus back from Epcot to CSR. I was the only one on the bus so I was able to have a nice conversation with the very friendly bus driver. She said that they are having a big problem with bus service at CSR right now ~ the order for the stops is #2, #3, #4, #1. #1 is the stop in front of the resort. She said that, on many of the runs, after stops 2 & 3 the bus is completely filled so the driver will call in for another bus. The next bus (which may or may not arrive soon) also first goes to stop #2 and proceeds in the same order. So, those guests waiting at #1 often get left behind because the bus cannot accommodate any more passengers .

Maybe during less busy times the bus service is better. But this past week it was definitely not good. I'm very glad that we had a car and didn't have to rely on the buses.

So far, our favorite has been CSR. We loved the pool area and the Pepper Market Food court. The resort is just beautiful! :)

So far I have only done CSR for mods. I loved it tho! It was like a deluxe lite. I'm looking forward to this upcoming trip to see if POFQ lives up to the standard set by CSR.

Definitely CSR!! We love the place and never experienced anything irregular with the bus service. Maybe CSR was extra busy since it is July and August. Was the CM at the bus stop #1 with the radio. She was there every morning during our stay to assist guests. She ahad a radio to call dispatch for buses to certain parks.

Our family does love CSR very much. I agree with Lilolvr, a CM was at bus stop #1 each morning during our April 2005 trip to call for certain buses. But on all of our 9 trips to CSR, we never waited long for a bus and only witnessed guest standing after events like Fantasmic, or the fireworks at Epcot when the parks were closed or closing. Things happen even to the best well-oiled machine. I'm just sorry it was during your visit.
