I just get such a kick out of the MGM Street Performers...my favorites are the "Hollywood Public Works Department" and Francis Flute.

Those 3 guys working for the public works department, they drive around in the blue truck, are hilarious.

And Francis Flute, from Bucksnell, AL, is a real hoot.

Who are yours?

I love them all.....to hard to pick a favorite

We must always time things wrong when we are at Disney Studios, as we rarely see the street performers (I think we are headed to MGM later today though....), but we absolutely LOVED the Public Works guys - just two the day we saw them. DD got a realy hoot out of them, and they had some great interaction. I love the toucan that "pooped" Fruit Loops.

Here's a pic and their "autograph"!

Yea, the public works guys are pretty funny. We had never seen them before and they picked my DH to be in their "contest". It was SO funny.

We also loved Rosie, we've seen her a few times.... she's hilarious!

Our favorite has a voice you can't miss if she's out. She's also a friend since we've been fans for 15 years.

She played Dainty Debbie recently, and now plays Zelda Schoop, screen legend and scamp of Hollywood! She is an eccentric actress from the late 20's and early 30's.

Hint about finding them: Ask at the tip board to check on their set times.

Sadly, quite a few of our favorites, like Roman Holiday and Greta Garbage, Officers Ronnie and Sideman, and Prissy/Gabrielle were all let go after that latest round of contract renewals ... or non-renewals.

We've only seen them once, but we loved the Glee Club. We saw them 2 years ago the first week of Dec.

these guys were hilarious!!

There was also a group of 3 women that were hilarious, but I dont remember what they were called..

My all time favorite was the actress who played "Gabriel Huntington" (I think that was her name). One skit she had was to audition a new body guard. Sadly, I haven't seen her at MGM since she had to have knee surgery (I think) last year. Hopefully, the reason I haven't seen her is that she's gone on to bigger and better things. So I just love everyone who's there now. I find them the most entertaining part of MGM. There was a website for the fans of the Streetmosphere characters, but unfortunately I can't find it now. Does anyone know the web address?

I really enjoy seeing all of the Streetmosphere Actors (Citizens of Hollywood and Hollywood Public Works guys). I don't like to play favorites, though. They're all pretty darn funny! (Although Francis Floot and Flavio Fellini were reading the DIS and posting for a while so I suppose that's worth some brownie points.)

However, I must say that I strongly prefer seeing them in improvisational scenes (structured like Hollywood Glee Club, Plunger Darts, Hollywood Dating Game or free-form) to seeing them all divided up doing separate meet-and-greets down Hollywood and Sunset. Audience member vs. eavesdropper perhaps? Just when I had the scene schedules pretty much figured out, they went and shuffled up everything and now I am totally lost whenever I go to Studios and end up wandering around trying to figure out what the scene schedule is.

I lied. I do play favorites. My favorite scene structure is the Funniest Citizen of Hollywood Competition.

As far as their schedules go....we had someone tell us a few years back that their acts start at 2pm on Sunset Blvd. right next to the car and the route 66 sign. Out in front of the villian store. Then another group performs either along hollywood blvd or right by Hollywood & Vine Rest.

We usually park it for about 2 hours. Every half hour from 2 pm up to the parade and then after the parade you will see someone perform.

PS...great photos all. I do miss the policemen, I miss Antonio Dante ( the guy who was a Hollywood Talent scout and rode around in a chair with wheels.)

But they are all GREAT. Very Enjoyable.

Of the current performers, I would have to say the "Hollywood Public Works Department". However, one of my favorites, which I havent seen for a couple years, was a wise cracking guy that carried a small folding table and did card and coin tricks. He always interacted with(and picked on) members of the crowd. Very funny and despite an eagle eye, I could never figure out how he did the tricks!

Thanks for the update! I hope to see him in late Jan/Early Feb.

I can tell you how he does his tricks. He does them very well! ;)

I believe you're thinking of the magician, The Great HP. Well, HP no longer visits the streets of Hollywood. However, his really close relative, Jack Diamond, is a talent agent and he makes frequent appearances complete with folding table.

Thank you now I can put names with my picture!

Hopefully we will be headed to over there one evening this week.. I cleaned al weekend and didn't get in any Disney (well except for POTC2 on Friday!)

Our family loves stopping to chat with Rosie. We got to meet the actress Donna Charles who portrays her on the Backstage Magic Tour many years ago when she would play Aunt Helen at Mama Melroses when you'd stop to have lunch there.
Unfortunately, I read on Mouseplanet today that she suffered a stroke.
Sending out prayers and pixie dust!
