Your Favorite MGM Dinner?

I have to say, out of all the places to eat in the "world" this has to be the worst place to find a good restaurant. The Sci-fi was good, not great and the same with the 50's. I think we would have liked the 50s better with another server, but the food was not bad at all just pricey. Hollywood and Vine is fine as a buffet goes, nothing special. I have not eaten at the Brown Derby. We thought the food was the worst at Mama Melrose's and would NEVER return. I wish they would come up with something really good there like a Chef Mickeys only with movie characters like the Incredibles, Chicken Little, etc. That would be fun and give people a chance to see some different characters. I love Chip and Dale as much as the next guy but how do they get from place to place so quickly?????

Our favorite is Brown Derby....we have been eating there since it opened and never have had a bad meal. I remember the days when they had the piano player, wow, that was so cool and he would take requests from the children and play Disney songs....or whatever anyone wanted to hear. Of course, they did away with him even though we all wrote letters.....I have seen changes in the menu over the years as well but they still put out a a consistently good meal.. I think consistency is the key to a good restaurant.

they want you to eat all your food or you go in the corner, I ended up in the cornerQUOTE]

Are they flexible about this? I mean, would they not give my kids a hard time about eating all their food if I asked? I think my kids would enjoy seeing each other (and me) scolded for manners violations but we are not a you-must-clean-your-plate family. If my kids are full, I would rather that they not continue eating everything on their plates, especially if the portions are large to begin with.

They tell you things like elbows off the table, napkins on the lap. My daughter was too busy loading up her father's plate so she wouldn't get scolded. It was fun, but I really did not want to play along. I did, but I am more of a watcher then someone who likes to participate. We went back a year ago, and were not paid much attention to. My kids were 15 and 18 at the time, I have heard they gear the action toward the younger families. I don't know if that is true or not, but we were placed out of the action. We still had fun and the food was good. I don't recall if children were bothered, I don't think so. It has been nearly 10 years since we first went. They do get told about their elbows and such though.

I think you really have to be aware of your child and their temperment before you book Sci-Fi...our ten year old really did not like it. The movie footage they show really bothered her. It is old campy sci-fi stuff which we thought was funny but she refused to go back when we go this time. The other drawback is we are a family of three so I was stuck sitting by myself in the backseat looking at DH and DD's back. Not exactly fun. The food was okay...but we won't be going back. We are going to try the Mama Melrose Fantasmic Seating Package this time and hope for the best with MM.

We love Mama Mel Rose. We ate at 50's prime time, I thought it was ok but not what I have read on the above posts. Hollywood Brown Derby is really good but 2 TS credits if doing the Dining Plan.

We love the Sci-Fi. We took our boys there when they were 4 & 2½ and are going back there in June, ours sons being 7, 6, and adding our almost 3 daughter in the mix. We can't wait. We loved the hamburgers. I'm sure they will love it. The only thing I'm worried about is the fighting on who gets the front seat!

Prior to the children's menu change, I would have said that I think your children would have liked Sci-Fi better. When we went in 2005, our kids really liked the atmosphere and the food. Now, post-menu change, I would suggest 50s PT. It was a lot of fun for the kids to watch the servers pick on the adults and the staff was very flexible about their children's menu.
