I'm trying to decide where to go for dinner @ MGM with our DD's (5 and 2 1/2). We are on the DDP. Suggestions?

Thank you!!

We really enjoyed the sci-fi diner. The food was decent and the kids will enjoy sitting in the "cars" to eat. The only draw back we thought was that the seats are not facing each other. You can also sit at a regular table if you want, but then you lose the drive-in type experience.

50s Prime Time Cafe is the quintessential Disney dining experience, combining great food, great atmosphere, and great fun. You're actually part of the "show" which is part of the dining experience.

I know a lot of people disagree but we like Mam Melrose's. It is good basic Italian food, but then again my dd lives on pasta and chicken nuggets!:)

Agree 100%. 50's Prime Time Cafe is our favorite MGM spot. The pot roast is particularly terrific.

Is a great place to dine,I think you would enjoy the experience and food.:goodvibes

With your children being that young, I think they would enjoy the Sci-Fi. But keep in mind it is loud and dark in there. I don't know how your kids are in that type of situation. Prime Time is nice, I don't think the cast members would be too much with the little ones. They did scare my daughter when she was 7 though ( they want you to eat all your food or you go in the corner, I ended up in the corner). My new favorite is Hollywood Brown Derby (best Cobb salad). It may be a little boring for the young ones. Those are 3 of my favorites. Oh, Hollywood and Vine is a nice buffet, I believe they have a children's section. I don't know if it is a character meal or not. When we were there it was not.

Our fave is 50's Primetime. The food is yummy and the service has always been good. Its also pretty fun. A close second is Sci-FI. A unique place to go. If the kids are scared of dark places, then Sci-Fi is not the place.

Are they flexible about this? I mean, would they not give my kids a hard time about eating all their food if I asked? I think my kids would enjoy seeing each other (and me) scolded for manners violations but we are not a you-must-clean-your-plate family. If my kids are full, I would rather that they not continue eating everything on their plates, especially if the portions are large to begin with.

Sci-Fi...DS was 10 and DD 5 when we went last time and they loved it! The food was good, the experience was fun and our kids at least got driver's licenses. On our first night back in April we are going there for dinner again.:cool1:

Yes. They may push the envelope with adults a bit, but not with children.

50's PT is a fave dinner spot for us - great food, fun atmosphere. And they usually pick on the adults way more then children and it's all in good fun; no one is forced to do anything and waitstaff is really great at picking up on who is interested in playing along and who isn't =0

SciFi is great atmosphere but food is not as good as PT.

50's Prime Time, the best fried chicken ever. We have been there twice and last month we decided to try Mama Melroses for a change of pace...made the wrong decisions. The food is bland and boring...from now on it is 50's all the time!

I would suggest Mama Melrose's. It is good italian food. We like it better than Alfredo's in EC.

50s PrimeTime had good food and the dessert was fantastic! I'd definitely go there again! While I don't care for the food at Sci-Fi, the atmosphere is really cool.

Sci-fi, for sure, the food was really good and the kids were quiet, and watched the big screen while we ate!

We loved the Mama Melrose. Family of 5 with 2-16 years olds and a 13 year old. We liked the enviroment at sci-fi but enjoyed Mama Melrose more-plus used the fanstmic dinner package.:thumbsup2

I never cared for any of the restaurants at MGM. That being said it's still easier to eat at the park with little one. Sci-Fi is lots of fun, food OK. 50 Primetime, lots of fun, food OK.
