This was inspired by stinkerbelle's, "Where can I find a "fake rock hide a key" thingie." This got me thinking of all the words we make up and use in our ever day lives. So I wanted to ask, what are some of your favorite made up words? I'm sure we will all understand that we may not know how to spell all these great words. Ok, some of my favorite: doola-ma-hicky, thinga-majig and can't forget, whatcha-call-it. Ok, who's next?

well...wth is this thing called then??

My favorite word is "Floopy" and it comes from Phoebe on Friends. I use it when I'm feeling "out of sorts" or discombobulated ... ie: "I feel very floopy today!"

well, i have a "bad" word I made up ... fricka fracka. does that count? lol at doola ma hicky

You know, that's a good question...what are those thingis called? I guess they will be forever known as thingie. And don't worry, I won't get all bajigidy with you. :teeth:

If I can't remember the name of something, it becomes a hickey-doo. :teeth:

For some reason, I think this is better than what my mom used to say to me, "Bring me that thing on the thing." Then, she'd get annoyed when you couldn't immediately grasp what the heck she was talking about. :rotfl2:

When my DD9 was little she wouldn't say "come tuck me in" she would say "tuckle". We still say "tuckle" to this day. :goodvibes

When I was a kid, I would use blagady. As in, "Mom, don't get all blagady on me!" Meaning, don't get upset and yell at me.

I have absolutely no idea what they are called. Thats a good question.

I have many made up words but I am drawing a blank this morning. The only one I can think of is "foodage". It means some sort of food like substance since what the cafeteria at college sold wasn't always classified as actual food.

Isn't that the case with most school cafeteria's? I know the Navy was the same way. On an occasion one of the Chief's would cook and we'd get a real good meal...but not always.

It's what we call our dog. His mother was pure Daschund, father pure Schnauzer. He looks like a Schnauzer but is longer and small like a Daschund.
He's adorable. :dog:

Thingamadoodle or Thingamabopper. They are interchangable.

And I've never heard "hickey-doo" but I have used "doo-hickey." Must be regional. ;)

:)

When my first nephew was old enough (about 2) to talk about going on vacation to New Hampshire (he is from PA) he kept calling it "newcation" instead of vacation. It has stuck and now our yearly extended family vacation in NH is ALWAYS called "newcation" to differentiate it from other vacations we may take.

My Grampa was the king of making up words and phrases. Can't think of any off the top of my head right now though................P

I believe it's simply called a "hide-a-key" ;)

My favorite made up word is "chippy"! I use to say it all the time to describe world music CD I bought...my friends thought I was LOOPY!! :rotfl2:

Well its not made up but I love how the world has taken the word Google and made it into a verb.

Hey - do you know what this is? No - why dont you google it?

Where did you find that - I googled it?

I was googling today and I came accross this website.

Its amazing!

well, I'm specifically looking for a hide-a-key in the shape of a ROCK then.

cause a hide-a-key can be a piece of plastic too. heheheh

so if I was right...I don't know how i inspired a thread about made up words! heheh
