We're planning to stay at a deluxe resort next visit, and I would like to know what makes a particular resort your favorite.

Please feel free to comment on why you feel that your favorite deluxe resort is #1 on your list. We would love to hear what you have to say.

p.s. I will include the Old Key West, Saratoga Springs, Swan, and Dolphin to the list as well since they provide deluxe accomodations...

Although I've not stayed at all the Deluxe resorts I have been to them all and had a good look round and a chat with the bar staff (maybe the odd drink while I was there not to be rude). I voted Animal Kingdom Lodge because it hits you as soon as you walk in the door. The main hall is beautiful and really sets the tone for a good holiday. It seems like the most informal yet still deluxe to me.

That's awesome... Most of all my Disney trips, I've stayed at the Grand Floridian.. it's very cool! I've also stayed at the Polynesian. That's awesome too... but I have to say Grand Floridian kicks major butt. :smooth:

I voted OKW as it's my home resort and I'm a DVC member - ya just can't beat having a king size bed,in room jacuzzi tub and an entire villa vs. a regular room.

That being said though, OKW and any of the DVC villas are technichally Home away from home resorts not the same catagory as the deluxe resorts but since you added them in that's what I'd definetly choose;) -- my favorite though,if not including the HAFH/DVC's would be a tie between the GF and BC. :) But again, you're talking about a regular hotel room vs. an entire villa.

Another vote for the Grand Floridian! Most beautiful theming, fantastic views of the castle and the fireworks. Great choice of on-site dining (Gasparillas is definitely the best counter service option in any resort!), plus easy monorail access to the other Magic Kingdom resorts, so exploring all the culinary delights they have to offer is very straightforward..
Plus, you have the spa facilities, the quiet beaches, the grounds are immaculate and the pools are fabulous!

Having said all that, I'm sure which ever you choose will be fantastic- Disney knows how to keep you inside those gates!! :flower:

I've only stayed at WL and AKL...but AKL wins for me hands down. Love the feel of the resort...so homey and relaxing. Can't wait to go there next week!

I've stayed at the WL, AKL and BC and hands down my fav is WL. Just something about the whole place... atmosphere, compactness, and that charging music in the lobby gets me ready to conquer Disney!

Second would be AKL. I love this resort too but just doesn't have the warm fuzzy feel of WL. I also like the rooms and location of BC and having SAB is a big plus, but I hated the refillable mug situation. Just annoying to me. Overall though the resort was great, and having Beaches & Cream at your doorstep was a huge plus! :teeth:

Love ALK. Its just a magical place. It just gives you that WOW! feeling, cant wait to stay there again.Staying at the POLY in Jan. never been ,hoping I'll love it there too.Stinkerbell I love the pics of your dog,I'm from Coventry CT.
what town are you from? Lots of Ct.Disers it seems.

Tough question..hehe...we stayed at GF, Poly and WL for our honeymoon in Sept. and loved all three for very different reasons. GF was elegant and beautiful. The staff was so attentive and our room was so quiet...we felt like we were the only ones in the building! Poly was awesome!! We stayed concierge there and had the most beautiful view of the castle. We loved the decor there, the atmosphere and the whole experience was magical. After two great stays at GF and Poly, we were not sure WL could match up but boy were we surprised! The theming is so beautiful...we're from the Northeast so it reminded us somewhat of places we visit in New England in the winter. We also stayed concierge here and we liked WL concierge the best. The staff was so friendly and always willing to help. They got us some last minute PS which we really appreciated. We also liked that there was not a "lounge" at WL but rather tables and chairs set up all along the floor giving us good views of the lobby. You can't go wrong with any of these three choices :)

OT - Stinkerbelle, your dog is so cuuuute! Is that a Brittany Spaniel?

Back to the task at hand. I think the GF is gorgeous and will probably be there with my sister next December.

This Feb, however, my DBF and I will be sampling the pleasures of the Poly and a night at the WL.

It was really hard to chose between AKL and the Poly. I love the animals, the atmosphere, the decor, the restaurants - I had a really hard time deciding on GF for our Christmas trip because I loved the AKL so much!

I've stayed at AKL and Poly. The Poly won for two reasons. 1) being close to MK and the Monorail and 2) I like the fact that the resort is a little more spread out.

Have only stayed in WL and AKL - AKL wins, but only by a little.... I want to give WL a second chance, I was sick the first go-round. Maybe next year.

BCV............why........................ the pool. And it is close to ESPN zone via a relaxing night boat cruise. It aint close for me, and i have stayed at them all including Disneyland and euro disney and disney tokyo.........although the disney hotel close to the aquarium park in Japan is the bomb.

Well as you can see from my tag, I voted for the Polynesian. Its our all time favorite. Its just so peaceful, great views of the mk castle, wonderful beach, great bus and monorail transportation, excellent activities and access to water craft rentals, on site childrens club, childrens activities, quick run for snacks and mug runs at captain cooks, many restraunt choices on site or just a monorail hop away., hamocks on the beach, volcano pool, pool bar if you feel inclined, great view of fireworks and water paegent from the beach etc. Our 2nd choice would be the swan because its deluxe and we get a great govt. rate, I have to say the swans customer service and promptness in handling a complaint etc., is far superior to the polys and I also like the swans turndown service, only minus of the swan would be charging priviledges in the parks and sometimes not having the room made up until later in the day.

poly gets my vote for making you FEEL you are on vacation! It just feels as if you have been transported to another place entirely.

I would not cound the DVC places as deluxe.....I don't class them as 'villas' at all. For me - vacation is not being able to SEE a kitchen or washing machine!
