Your Favorite Couples Getaway Destinations - East Coast

Clusters of places to see close enough to see more than one for a getaway.

Boston, Massachusetts because I just am just in love with this city.
Cape Cod, Massachusetts is lovely.

Cape May, New Jersey is lovely.
New Hope, Pennsylvania is especially nice around the time of the neighboring Lambertville, NJ Shad Festival.

Bethlehem, Pennsylvania during Musikfest
Allentown, PA for Dorney Park, the summer has 2 parks but during the fall they have a Halloween thing, the area has vineyards too.
Hershey, Pennsylvania or HersheyPark
In between Dorney and Hershey you will find Knobels, which is a charming old school theme park.

Did you enjoy Monticello? We are thinking of stopping on our way to the Smokies in April. I would love to hear anything you can tell me about it
Yes, it was very interesting. We got the behind the scenes pass so we could see the upstairs rooms on the tour. We also went along on the free gardens and grounds tour, there is a free slavery at Monticello tour also; we did that part by ourselves. We had some lunch from the cafe, it was a beautiful day and the house is in a beautiful setting. I just found it very hard to reconcile the 'all men are created equal' and the slaveowner. Growing up in the northern US, I am often confronted with this disturbing part of our history now that I live in Virginia.

When you visit there is a parking area, you go to the visitor center and can take a free shuttle up the hill to the house. There is a walking path also, we walked back down by way of the Monticello cemetery, I think the shuttle bus also stopped there on the way back to the visitor center.

Is Portland, ME too far out of your way? It's a lovely small city, excellent food, microbreweries, whale watching, schooner sailing, etc. It's less than 2 hours drive north of Boston.

We are all different! NYC and Las Vegas are 2 of the last places in the US I would want to visit. DS lived in Manhattan for 2 years so I have been there.
