Your favorite breed of dog (s)?

What is so good about greyhounds? I would consider adopting one but, dang, in my eyes, they are one of the ugliest dogs ever! But I really believe in rescue programs.
They maybe ugly in your eyes but to me they are beautiful and have very soulful eyes. I was involved in the greyhound industry for a few years and always found homes for the ex racers in my friends kennel, also was involved in the adoption program in FL.
These dogs are very quiet, shed very little and are crate trained. They walk wonderfully on a leash and almost all absolutely love people! Alot of people that are allergic to dogs can own one. They are absolutely couch potatoes, most people who adopt one usually end up getting another.

My family absolutely adores our Chesapeake Bay Retreiver.

A Maxi-dog, of course!

How do you get a Maxi-dog? They're simple enough to find. Mix one black labrador retriever with a mutt of any description, and you'll get a Maxi-dog.

My best friend has a Maxi-dog :).

My favorite dog is an Akita. Big, furry, cat-like, proud and protective. Not a beginner's dog, but very nice for those who can tell thier dog the pack order.

But ... they are also very furry and I am allergic ... so ... My next dog will be either a Standard Poodle or a Portugese Water Dog or a trendy Standard Poodle mix (Snoodle, Labradoodle, etc). I need a dog with hair that does not shed.

3 Bichons actually. :)

That and Labs

I'm not sure about a Bichon. At the pet store my brothers owned we used to call them *****in' Frizzies.

But I'll go along with the Labs. We have a yellow lab (with a brown nose!) and he is the best, smartest dog ever. Now if we could do something about the shedding..........

My baby which is a Great Dane. He is also the most beautiful dog in the world. :dog: As you can see. :earboy2:

#1 Rottweiler
#2 Russian Toy Terrier :paw:

We have a wonderful Rottie :dog2: . Great temprement and smart smart smart. A friend of ours has a Russian Toy Terrier, and although he's a teacup dog, he's not at all yappy, he's very friendly, really cute and quite smart!

Chow Chows!

We've had four of them over the last 24 years (2 at a time) & they are very family oriented, protective, and independent enough to not be needy. They are also very intelligent, house train themselves, and are very quiet.

We currently have one Chow and one Bichon. I love the Bichon, but he is very HIGH maintenance! ( and I don't mean just his coat; he constantly wants attention, and gets into trouble with everything)

1. Great Pyrenees
2. Chow Chows
3. Bernese Mountain Dogs
4. Labs (all kinds)
5. German Shepards

:goodvibes 1: Chocolate labs
2: Black labs
3: greyhounds

Oh, I didn't mean ugly to be mean. But you know how you grow to like a certain look? They just don't fit my description. Since I was the OP, look at my choices.... all big burly dogs!

OMG!! I didn't know there were any Russian Toys here in the US. I saw these amazing little dogs when I went to Belarus last year. They're usually between 2 & 4 pounds and act just like a lab! I swear, not yappy or anything. I wanted one sooooo badly!!

Are there breeds other than greyhounds?? ;)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I think greys are beautiful inside and out. I've owned dogs all my life and I can say without a doubt that my grey is the best dog I've ever had. He is the sweetest, most gentle creature, yet still loves to be a goofball.
They are absolutely couch potatoes

Shih Tzus, of course. Look at my username.

Particularly, Sammy, my first son (just furrier than I am), Chewy (One of Sammy's sons), Petey (a new little pup who was a rescue) and my beloved babies who are all at the Bridge. Katie, Leia, Luke and Anakin.
