your experience with JB fares

Okay, so JB just opened up its flights to April 2014. Part of me wants to book, but I am wondering if the prices will go down. I heard somewhere that the cheapest prices are usually about 4-5 months out. Wondering if I should book or wait until the fall to see if prices will drop. I also heard somewhere about JB crediting you if the fare goes down. Is this true?
To make you even more confused, I am thinking about using my reward from a visa credit card to purchase some of the tickets and then buying directly from jB for the rest. Do you see any problem with this. I need to buy 6 tickets so trying to find a discount any way I can. I feel uncomfortable buying from 2 different places, but I guess if it is the same flight, what is the difference.
Am I right in this thinking?
thanks,
linda

We have booked 7 flights so far with JetBlue. Never yet has the price decreased after booking. Steadily up? Yes ma'am. But a reduction? Not so far. And I have kept a steady eye on the flight costs each time, right up until our departure.

If you book flights and prices do, in fact, decrease, they will put a credit for the difference in your True Blue account to be used toward a future flight. It is not a cash refund or a refund to your credit card.

Great post Gina! Do you usually book as soon as flights are out?

Love JetBlue. I have always booked early( 4,5 months out). The rates have always gone down. You just call them and tell them I think my flight went down and they always cheerfuly give a credit. You can call as many times as it goes down. The fares do change quite often. The credits are good for 1 year to book another trip. Not fly but just book within a year.:wave2:

If you're going around a school vacation week, book the second they come out!

We went in April '12 and booked in December. I sort of forgot to book airfare, and paid about $480 each RT from Boston, which was more than $140 more than my friend who booked the same dates but did it on the first day she could book. Anyway, I looked at JB's web site almost every single day and the fares just went up and up.

We're going next April/May and I just booked one way since May's not open yet.

Very shortly thereafter. I am not usually organized enough to pounce on the fares on the day they are released :rotfl:.

I have a DS who is a senior in high school, so we are pretty much tied to travelling on school vacations, and those time periods are almost always at a premium price. By booking early, we usually get prices that are pretty reasonable.

For our both our upcoming August trip and last year's August vacation, we booked our flights the 2nd week of January. The same tickets for this year's trip, if purchased now, would be over 50% more :scared1: .

We also have the luxury of checking JetBlue's prices from both the Syracuse airport and from Buffalo. Syracuse is 3 hours for us (and our preferred airport as we can avoid dealing with Toronto traffic) while Buffalo is about 4 hours from home (Pearson, in comparison, is 2.5 hours). We have flown from all three airports and definitely our preference is JetBlue from SYR or BUF.

I usually book as soon as I know when I want to travel. Sometimes, I have to wait for JB to open the next window, sometimes the window has been opened for awhile.
I just flew to Seattle, from Boston, and back again. I watched my airfare and when it went down, I called to get a credit. That happened about a month before my flight. I got a $129 credit. My dd has a $175 credit..her airfare was booked later and had gone up!! So yes, fares do go down. You just have to watch them.
