Your Disney Splurge!

Splurged on a lot this trip :) Suite at the Villas at the GF (AMAZING and so worth it for us), Perfectly Princess Tea Party (amazing, perfect experience for my 5 yr old princess lover), and a massage at the GF spa... ahhh....

Just back from a trip with a lot of surprises for my kids and DH.
Never again: welcome gift (Mickey Kool Snack), massage at AKL
Liked it but not again: pirates and pals cruise
Worth it: VIP touring, cabana at typhoon lagoon, CL

Splurge One: Staying at Beach Club for Food and Wine in 2010. Verdict: Not worth the cash. Location was fabulous. Temperatures "too cool for the pool" and all hot tubs at Stormalong Bay needed new heating elements that wouldn't be in until Friday, the day we left.

Splurge Two: Park Hopper Tickets for 2010 trip. Verdict: Won't go without them again.

Splurge Three: Surf and Turf at Shula's at the Dolphin in 2014. Verdict: Oh Yes!

Splurge Four: Rental Car mid-trip from the Dolphin in 2014. Verdict: Good idea all around. Changed our minds about Disney Transportation we had from 2010.

Splurge Five: Crystal Palace pre-park opening breakfast. Verdict: The pictures we got on PhotoPass and at the restaurant are priceless.

Any Disney trip is a splurge - lol!

In 2013 we had our dream trip (at the time I thought it would be our one trip when the kids were grade school age - bwah ha ha) So we:
Had a suite at AofA (cars) definitely worth it!
Pirates and Pals cruise - DD loved it, DS slept through it and DH and I enjoyed it - nice but don't need to do it again
Kids got made up like pirates at MK (Can't remember what its called) - both kids loved it - definitely worth it
Used kids club for babysitting and parents night out (spent at WS eating/drinking our way around the world) - SO WORTH IT and now a regular tradition
Kids did a pirate cruise just for kids from GF - they LOVED this and we had time to eat breakfast at Kona by ourselves - awesome!
(Here is where I admit my DMIL splurged on all the pirate stuff for the kids as a Christmas present before our trip - thanks DMIL!

In 2014 we decided to splurge and use a free dining offer to surprise the kids with a return to the world for Thanksgiving - the whole trip was a splurge although admittedly we spent less on this trip. The only repeat from above was the babysitting/parents night out. (The kids love the clubs and time away from us - can't imagine why? So it's a win/win)

I splurged when I bought everything possible from the figment gift shop that had figment on it. I'm still not sure that was a great splurge.

Hello!

Staying at a Deluxe Resort for the first time and attending MNSSHP and the 2014 Food and Wine Festival last fall was a huge splurge! And now, I'm about to splurge again by heading down for the Princess Half Marathon in February and also heading out to Disneyland a few months after that (with a stay at the Disneyland hotel, I hope!) Yay for splurging! :)

My DH and I are celebrating our second wedding anniversary and his 30th birthday at Narcoossee's. I have been looking forward to it so much, but I know we are going to spend at least $150. I'm a bit of a cheapskate (I'm the person who ALWAYS has a coupon), so I'm really hoping it's worth it... I've never spent money like that on a meal.

We upgraded DVC discount passes to annual passes this year for $1950. Making it worth it are 7 days in May, 5 days in September, 7 days in December and at least 6 more days next year. That breaks down to 100 park admissions at $19.50 a day for the 4 of us.
What is the DVC discount pass? I know of the AP but what is the discount pass? Will be hopefully becoming DVC members soon!

I thought the Star Wars Premium package was not worth it for us but I could see it being well worth it for others. The Wishes dessert party we have done twice and will not do it again. MVMCP was worth it and two of the three CL experiences (WL, AK were worth it, BC was not).

I am not sure if it is something that is offered every year or not but when my mother (who is the DVC member) was at WDW in December they were offering DVC members a chance to buy a 4 day "each park one time" type ticket for around $220 I think it was. She bought us 4 of those for Christmas and those were the tickets we upgraded to annual passes.

We did an Illuminations Cruise in March of either 1999 or 2000. It was so cold we needed the blankets the pilot offered us and as we parked underneath the bridge between France and Great Britain I looked up and saw that there were many open spaces along the railing .

I'd say my favorite splurge so far was the "Keys to the Kingdom" tour DH and I did in 2013. It was AWESOME, and "Backstage Magic" is now on my bucket list.

My husband got me a prenatal massage at GF on our babymoon last year and it was phenomenal. That was a nice splurge too :)

Awesome, I hope they offer it again sometime. How did she know about it?

I splurged on the Villains Sinister Soiree last year during MNSSHP, and it was WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!! I will be so disappointed this year if they don't offer something similar. I'll still go, but it won't be as good.

Narcoosee's is an annual splurge for my family! It's our favorite restaurant at WDW. Have a wonderful time and don't forget to watch the water pageant and fireworks! You can request a table by the window or just head outside to watch. :)

Thank you for the reassurance!

Where have you traveled on dcl? How are the ports and excursions? Thanks!
Best cruise line I have ever been on!!!

Also, my splurge that we have only done once but remains the best meal I have ever had ANYWHERE (with Palo brunch on DCL Magic a close second), the Hollywood Brown Derby. Monsieur Paul, not even close (but enjoyable). Tutto (never again), can't even compare. No other dining experience has fulfilled like our F! Dinner package last year. We had spectacular service, unhurried, enjoyable, it included soda/drinks, app, entree, dessert trio, bread (GF!) course, and coffee for a flat rate of $58 per person and we could order anything (so hubby got filet of course!) My duck three ways was amazing (not a beef eater). Salmon and lamb chops rounded out the table. By the time they gave us the silly VIP tickets, it was almost a joke, as the meal had far exceeded anything else up to the point. We ended up having to majorly run to be able to make it on time (super long TSMM wait) but we did make it, and we enjoyed the show more or less (at that time, we hadn't seen it in over 10 yrs) so for us, it was worth it. Next time, I'd probably book the dinner package again and give away the silly F!, as long as I could get all those courses for $58! To top it off, we had $104 in rewards to use! :yay:

I often look at Brown Derby and think "Can you still be that good?" I'm almost afraid to try again. Last year's memory was so good, I'm afraid it will ruin it. Who would have thought to take duck and stuff it in a fried yucca ball of loveliness, with a crab bisque course, and GF is no problem?! Sigh.... Our dinner was with the Twinkie and hubs, so I think if we ever repeat it, we will go with them again. (We also did Palo brunch with them, which her hubs LOVED and it wasn't for mine.) I guess we are old now! We never used to have time to sit and eat, and those two highlights were top of the list of experiences with our Land & Sea trip last year!

After a brutal year where we had several personal losses we decided to go to Disney to recharge. In all there were 18 of us. We went to hoop-Dee-Do which was splurge 1 and then roamed around the Contemporary and Grand Floridian looking at the Christmas decorations. Everyone thought we were waiting to see the wishes fireworks near the dock. Only my wife and I knew we were going to see them on the Grand One! It was over the top and a memory we will never forget.
