We are doing ten days at WDW, at the end of October/beginning of November. We will be rope dropping the first seven days. Given that we will be in the parks in the morning, should I change our fast passes to be done with them early, so we can choose 4th and 5th FPs after that? Or should we just do rides all morning, then have FPs waiting for us in the afternoon (when they're most needed)? I have a mix of both strategies already booked, and we do have FPs for the headliners, including FOP.

I'd love to hear the input of the experts on these boards, as to what strategy currently works best, and in which parks. Thanks!

The eternal FP question. I lean towards scheduling the first three to end by early afternoon, then trying for more.

We're rope droppers and afternoon nappers.

I've done a mix of both scenarios for our upcoming trip.

Keep in mind October can be very busy so additional FPs will be for less desirable attractions for the most part. It's possible to get a decent headliner as a 4th, just don't have your heart set on it.

I like to do 10-11, 11-12, 12-1. Not too early (aim to enter the first FP queue around 10.50 so we can ride other things first) but also not too late to get some decent 4th FP's.

If we are planning on being in just one park we make them around 10:30, 11:30, and 12:30 and then see what we can get after that.

More often we are park hopping, and then we make them for the second park for late afternoon/early evening.

We rope drop almost every day except our arrival day.

We're not rope drop people, but we will show up around 9:15 for a 9:00am park open. We almost always get our FP+ for 9am, 10am and 11am. Then we start grabbing more. With the exception of FoP and Navi, pretty much any ride in WDW can be had same day, so for us it pays to use the first 3 right away. It's pretty rare we do any rides standby anymore...except the ones that have absolutely no line.

We park hop and midday breaks by the pool so we schedule our FP for the second park. Usually starting around 5. We usually go in August so those midday breaks are essential for us.

Next trip will probably be in November so maybe not as much pool time. I'm thinking lunch ADRs as our break and FP starting around 3-4 instead of 5? Or maybe we will still do pool breaks. It'll depend on park hours.

Thanks for the replies. So lines start to build around 11?

Totally depends on the attraction and the overall crowd size. Lines at the most popular attractions at each park grow very quickly as soon as the park opens.

We like to use ours in the afternoon, even if we rope drop.

For an extended stay like the one you are planning, consider setting aside one MK day where you use your FPs at night. Jungle Cruise, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder, and SDMT are all much different (and better) attractions after dark. It's totally worth taking that approach on one day. You won't get any extra that day, but the ones you do get will be among your best experiences of your entire trip.

Depends on the ride.

FEA...yes, the line will start to build around 11am

7DMT, TT, FoP...the line will start to build within seconds of park open.

TSMM...maybe 9:30 or 10:00am.

Just depends.
