How many people are on your Christmas shopping list this year? Do they fall into categories?

I have 39 individual people on my list this year, which sounds like a huge number, but many of them are easy and inexpensive.

12 of them belong to a social group I'm a member of, and will get a little gift bag of cookies/candy or something similar. ($10 per person)

10 of them are in a dinner group - 5 couples, and each couple will get a bottle of wine/small food gift. ($15 per couple)

5 more are 'service" people and will get a food/wine gift, plus a cash gift for one of them - hairdresser, etc. ($10 per person plus the cash gift - I haven't decided on that amount yet)

3 of them belong to a family and between the 3 of them will get food gifts and a gift card. ($75 total)

2 of them are close friends and will each get an individual gift. ($25 - 50 range)

I think I will be able to do all of that shopping in one afternoon with a budget of $500, plus the cash gift for my hairdresser.

All of that is "easy" shopping - I've already decided what I'll do and it's easy to shop for, wrap and deliver those gifts.

The other 7 are harder - my children, my brother, and the family of my daughter's boyfriend. The boyfriend's mom and brother are easy to shop for, but the boyfriend and his dad are typical men and I am not a good "man" shopper.

My daughters and my brother will be easy once they give me lists/suggestions.

Thankfully I'm past the teacher gift years so none of that for me!

How many are you shopping for this Christmas?

Not even close to that number!

I have my 2 kids and husband, niece and nephew, dad. I have 2 close friends who we might exchange something really small -- like last year I got them a framed photo of the 3 of us.

So 7. A good lucky number. :teeth:

ETA: Nope, nevermind, I can't add. It's 8.

:rotfl:Nice math skills, Mushy! I had to add mine 3 times to get it right.

Actually, 30 of those people are in the "do a little something for them" category, and I suppose I could drop them if I chose. My little social group gets together and has gotten in the habit of exchanging a little something - same with my dinner group. Honestly, though - I like getting presents from them so I'm happy to keep up the tradition!

My "real" group is 9, then. Pretty close to your 8, if my math skills are holding up...

let me think...i think there are 10 people on my regular Christmas list (just immediate family), and i'll probably pick up small gifts for DD12's teachers.

2 kids
1 DW
Her Parents (2)
My Parents (2)
1 Brother
1 SIL
1 Niece
My grandparents (2)
1 Secret Santa Gift
-------
13 Total

Not bad this year.

I have 1 sister
1 brother
mom
and Dad

DH has
1 sister
her boyfriend
her son
my Mother in law
my step father in law

(his dad, step mom, and little sister do not celebrate)

then we have our 2 children
and 6 grandparents

Our budget is 500 bucks, which last year came to about 50 bucks a person other than grandparents because they all have EVERYTHING and what do you get a person that has everything? lol....this year we are getting them pictures of our kiddos :) They don't have that yet, at least a picture with both of them in it
but i am a GREAT shopper, i am out on black friday, use coupons and try to pick things up early.

I have already bought my mom a kitchen aid knife that is normally $40 that i got for 9 bucks :)

I'm shopping for about 5 people this year-- my DH, my mom, my Dad, my MIL, and FIL.

For friends and distant family, I will make cute cards and send them a box of homemade cookies.

It's been a tough financial year for us and it's about all we can swing. :)

6

We just buy for our family and my parents. The kids draw names for cousins so that is 3 more on THEIR list.

I'ts a big fat ZERO this year!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

We just had xmas last weekend with DH's family (yeah, don't ask ) and we didn't exchange gifts.

My side of the family is going to Wilderness Resort in the Dells for the weekend of xmas, so no gifts there, either.

We may get DD and DS a couple things, but that will be it.

I'm so excited!! :rotfl:

I don't like to count it because it makes me sick but in off the top of my head counting I get quickly to 30.

I'm going to "make" some gifts. Starting now.

My list: dh, 3 kids, 2 dil's, dgd, mom, mil and fil, 1 kid's gift for dh's family name draw, 6 teachers, and goodie bags for a few folks at work (like homebaked goodies or something) So really just 11. and 6 of those may get cut, not sure if the kids do teacher's gifts in jr. high or not.

This year I have a Christmas savings account that will transfer to my regular savings account in November. My intention is to withdraw that money and go shopping. when the money is gone, the shopping is over. Hopefully, I can stick to my guns this year.

I have 19 kids to shop for. That includes our 2 kids. Plus 17 adults. So 36 people!:scared1:

About 16 for "real" gifts and then I do something small for teachers, bus driver, coaches, etc.

Isn't that funny - I have the opposite reaction. Somewhere around Labor Day (I'm a few days early this year!) I get the itch to put it all down on paper and see what I really am going to need to do, etc. I also jot down any ideas for people on my list if I' ve come up with any by this point. For example, two of the people on my list bought Nooks this year so they'll get a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card. Easy for me and perfect for them. I just like knowing what I really need to focus on and decide about, so I can be looking/shopping/asking for suggestions from them throughout the fall.

Shoot just remembered 5 more "bigger" type gift people (left off one group of siblings and nieces!) And we'll be celebrating at Thanksgiving with them. I do try to group gifts for families and get a family gift. Like a zoo memebership or something like that.
I'm thinking my mom will get restaurant gift certificates down for when she goes down to Florida. Anybody know any good restaurants in Stewart FL??

15 individuals (my kids, family, and friends)
4 couples (small token gifts)
2 teachers, and 2 busdrivers

DH and I don't have a lot of people on our list. We don't exchange gifts with friends, DH's family is very small (just his mom and his paps) and mine isn't all that big either. DH doesn't exchange with his co-workers, and I only exchange gifts within my division, which is only two other people besides myself. :)

Counting my DH, I have only 13 people to shop for.

We have 18 this year. I already have a list of presents to buy for about half of them!
