Peanut allergies sure seem to get a lot more attention. I had a medical procedure done a few weeks ago and my wife packed a peanut butter sandwich for lunch while she waited. She went outside to eat it because she was concerned someone in the waiting area might have an allergy.

It is very complicated regarding cars-some Toyotas are made in Texas, some Hondas are made in (I think) Kansas.

Wait, what?
Cars are made via parts. Those parts like a door assembly, bumper, seats, tires etc are made all over the place by suppliers who ship those parts to the Original Equipment Manufactures (OEM) for assembly, which can be here in the states, Canada or Mexico.
Even the radio has parts made all over the place, think about all the fabric that goes into any given vehicle - those come from all over the world.
It's NOT a tiny footprint let alone a one size fits all. There is no other industry in the world that impacts the economy than automotive manufacturing.
Indiana also is home to a Toyota plant (Gibson County) I am not sure which ones they have been building at that plant though. Toyota has been there forever. I also heard they may be doing some Lexus too now. IIRC, I think Toyota has a plant in Kentucky somewhere. I also heard Honda is coming to Indiana, but I don't know where. It is very complicated regarding cars-some Toyotas are made in Texas, some Hondas are made in (I think) Kansas.
You're right; Toyota has a plant in Georgetown, KY.IIRC, I think Toyota has a plant in Kentucky somewhere.
There are apps.It would be nice if there was an actual index of where things are from so everyone in the US could make thoughtful selections based on what they want.
Always thought it was odd we don't already have that when many other countries are so strict.
Maybe it would be useful to include what the same items are taxed as exports away from the US and even into the US to do a decent side by side, QR codes would make the indexing easy in the day of AI everything let the computers keep track.
Informed consumers are absolutely the best consumers.
But are any of them trustworthy? I am a deep skeptic of anyone trying to tell me any sort of truth these days, I just assume it would be some big business, nation state or country trying to double down on misinformation. Sad timesThere are apps.
Informed consumers are absolutely the best consumers. I'm so over the hiding of facts, tell us all the truth and let us make our own decisions and then the pieces will land where they land.
There are apps.
I buy fruits and vegetables from local farms near me. They grow everything themselves and care deeply for their animals, land, and environment. NYS also has some of the most strict laws regarding regulations. I'll ask my congressman if they know about your linked article and if that's true, what can they do about it. Farmers are deeply respected and appreciated in our community.Unfortunately Apps don't list the nasty chemicals used on US farmland
EWG: ‘Forever chemicals’ in sludge may taint nearly 70 million farmland acres
Let this settle in, Farmers in all 50 states have been using Sludge/Fertilizer on their land which feeds the cows, chickens, pigs etc. Not only is our meat, eggs and all dairy products tainted but so are fruits, vegetables, grains etc.. Anything grown or grazing on the land is contaminated and that includes ORGANIC farmers. The chemicals have seeped into our water supply.
It's all here: Reported by Many
US Farmers refuse to test and/or label their products for these chemicals. They refuse to inform US Consumers Sludge/Fertilizer was/is used on their land despite how toxic the chemicals are, Yes, it's still being used. Other countries have banned it but not the US.
And the US farmers lame excuse: They told us that this material would be safe. Which begs the question, why didn't the farmers do independent testing PRIOR to releasing Sludge/Fertilizer on their land.
Only ONE farmer came clean and it wasn't his fault: Misty Brook Farm bought tainted hay/feed from another farmer who uses Sludge/Fertilizer. That farmer knowingly sold tainted hay/feed without a care in the world to an organic farmer.
Again Apps are not going to tell you the whole truth.
