Your best cast member experience

I don't have any magical CM experiences of WDW (yet, first trip is coming up fast!) but my husband and I were blown away by the attention we received in DLR after we got engaged in the park. We made one CM cry. We were waiting in line to ride Roger Rabbit's Taxi Spin (I think that's what it's called) and just as we made it up to the front it broke down! People starting leaving and my husband and I were like we don't mind waiting. The CM was really apologetic and told us it might be awhile. We said we didn't mind because we were getting to spend time together and that was what mattered. She seemed to get really flustered and started crying and said "I can't be here" and then she ran off! We were shocked and felt bad until she came back with a smile on her face and said that on behalf of all the resident's at Mickey's Toontown she wanted to present to us our first wedding present. It was SIX anytime fastpasses for any ride in Magic Kingdom.

The other time was a CM in one of the shops in DCA, she found out we were engaged and casually got our names from us. When we came back to pick up a book DH had bought the CM at the counter said Oh I have to get a manager one moment please. Next thing we know the manager comes out with the original CM with the Bride and Groom mickey ears with our names and the date embroidered on them! It was such a wonderful thought and we got lots of hugs from her. Made us even more excited for our next trip to the house of mouse.

I am super loving this thread! One that stands out to me was in 2014 at MNSSHP. It was our first party and I dressed up as Fauna from Sleeping Beauty - my favorite movie. We met both Aurora and Prince Phillip and it was the most magical experience for me! Aurora was so excited "Aunt Fauna" had come to spend the evening with her! After spending a wonderful (and long) time with them at the carousel, we ran into them again on our way out. They both waved me down and we danced together down Main Street. It was so awesome! I also met Maleficent and that was just hilarious! The way she played off me with my husband was the greatest!

Several years ago, a friend and I went on the KTTK tour, and had the most wonderful CM, Matthew, as our guide. He was so sweet and funny, very entertaining. I'm afraid I peppered him with questions, which he answered very graciously. I was hoping I wasn't being too annoying with my questions, and tried to tone down my enthusiasm a bit (who wants to be "that person" on a tour? :)).

At the end of the tour, everyone was thanking Matthew, and he asked my friend and me to stay for a minute afterward. Once everyone else had left, he thanked me for making it a really fun tour for him to lead! He said he loved it when people were enthusiastic and asked lots of questions. He then told me he wanted me to have his special limited edition Cast Member Pin celebrating the anniversary of Epcot (which was happening that very day). What a sweet thing to do - I loved having a special pin that you couldn't buy anywhere, and it really meant a lot to me. Gotta love a great CM!

In 2012, we went during the week of my sister's birthday. We had birthday t-shirts made up and everything. One morning she didn't feel well and decided to hang out in the hotel for a few hours and meet me later. I wore my birthday shirt to the MK because we were having her birthday lunch that day. The town crier in Liberty Square sew my shirt and asked if it was my birthday. When I explained about my sister, he told me to bring her back when she got to the park. Well, later that day I took her back and introduced her. He asked a few general questions from her and then did a big "Hear ye, hear ye" announcement about her birthday, ringing his bell up and down the square. It was so cool!

We had a CM in Liberty Inn at Epcot randomly select us for a Magical Moment. I didn't know what that was, but it meant we got Table Service at a QS restaurant. Needless to say, we thanked her profusely!

Just wanted to come here and give a public thank you to a CM named Gus who was working at the Frontier Land train station. Gus was very nice and helpful and allowed us a little bit of extra Disney Magic today.

I wish this wasn't rare enough to be able to pick somethign but the one memorable thing was asking a photopass photographer to take a picture with us.. He took it literal and another photopass photographer took a picture of us with the photopass photographers. it was a quiet night so we went back and forth with a few cast members taking pictures WITH them..

^^ is the only photo I have handy about it..

I have a blast with the cast members so I could go on and on but that one was out of the ordinary for me.. Sometimes the magic needs to go the other way and make their day!

There are many, but there is one that was so uncommon for us. We were at EPCOT waiting for the bus to go back to FW. We were tired and must have looked "done". A CM standing in the parking lot asked where we were going and we told him. He told us to follow him and he took us to a Disney van. He loaded us up and took us to the door of our cabin. During the ride over, he fished through the stuff he had in the front seat and started handing us gifts. We received a pirates sword, a hat, stickers, and a few other items. We were all amazed! Magical!

By the way, it is my understanding that if you get the CM's name and tell management what they did special, they get a reward of some sort. Not sure what, but they deserve praise for being the CM that represents what Disney is about.

So in Hong Kong Disneyland, they have/had a recognition program for Cast Members where guests were given five pieces of a card to hand to a CM who they felt made the trip especially magical. The CMs who received one would somehow get recognition for it from management. It sounds like the equivalent of going to guest services and doing a comment card.

Anyway, besides this being a neat program I am wondering if there is any way to 'jury rig' it to do something similar at WDW even though there isn't anything official. Like if I have a notecard on me that says something along the lines of 'you are awesome. Show your manager for proof of how awesome you are' will that do anything? Even if it isn't officially noted on their record, I can't help but think managers remember these sorts of things.

We've had some wonderful experiences with cast members. One evening on our first trip as just mom and my girls my eldest noticed right after she arrived at HS that something was on her shorts that looked very nasty (probably chocolate), being a teen she tried to hide it but a cast member saw tears and wrote her a slope to get a new pair of shorts in any store in the park. Last fall I had a split stay because I planned a last minute trip. On the final leg they could not link our magic bands to our room. It took about 30 minutes and we just waited and talked to the cast member. It was no big deal since we weren't due anywhere. Well next thing I know she is telling us that she is adding 65.00 to our account to spend. I was stunned.

So this year I get to pay it forward a little. I'm having a friend and her daughter share our room at the Poly for her daughters graduation. Just helping offset that college bill a bit.

My two favorites are from our trip last May when DD was 2.

DD had ridden Dumbo a bunch 5 times in a row and I was too tired to bring her through the line again. I was carrying her so it was tiring! She of course had a toddler meltdown and the FP CM came over and asked what was the matter. I explained she wanted to ride Dumbo. The CM said to give her a minute. She came back and said "I don't want you to cry Princess, I want you to be happy. I want you to take this over to Big Top Souvenirs and pick out a special Dumbo toy." It was so unexpected and very thoughtful.

The other was during the 24 hour day at MK. DD loved the Beauty and the Beast movie and really liked Gaston. We went to see him but the line was so long with tons of people in costume going to see him and it was so hot. So we just stood off to the side watching him interact with other guests. I kept asking DD if she would say goodbye to Gaston and she would shake her head no and reach out for him, so we'd stay a little longer. He must have seen us because between guests he came over to us and took DD's hand and kissed it. She was so thrilled. She still talks about how Gaston loves baby and Gaston kissed her hand.
