What do you all do with your 'stuff' (phone, wallet, passport, etc) while on water excursions and on CC? For instance, on snorkeling excursions...? And when snorkeling, swimming at CC? Do you leave one person with your belongings? Or just leave them there and pray for good luck? Do you put them in a water proof bag? I have read of little plastic ziploc type bags for phones, etc which can be taken swimming.... Can this possibly actually keep your phone dry?

I will leave what i can in the room, but on an all day excursion,we will need our wallets and phones, just in case.... I guess we really wont need them on CC though.

Well, for those excursions that we're going to get wet, we only bring our KTTW card, driver's license, a little cash (all that can get wet) and my waterproof camera.

My husband uses the little pocket in his swim trunks for putting his ID/money, and I use a more time honored place of concealment for ladies for mine. My camera is always on my wrist.

Typically on snorkeling excursions, your "stuff" stays in the boat while you are in the water, so it's really only available to the crew and others on your boat. We've had no issues leaving things in the boat then.

I wonder if they have anywhere for you to store your stuff if you're going to jet ski. We're thinking about doing that on our next one. Surely they have somewhere to store your bag with like your towels and tervis cups in it?

Jet ski on Castaway Cay? There's a large wooden box for people to stash their stuff, but it's not locked or anything. Just a CM to watch over it.

I've done the jet ski. It was great! My one recommendation: I had my camera on my wrist. It was choppy and it kept banging on me and the jet ski and I worried it would break. After we stopped, I put the top strap on my life jacket through the camera's wrist strap before buckling the life jacket and then tucked the camera inside the top of my life jacket. That worked much better!

Awesome, thanks for the feedback!

We used the waterproof phone bags at CC and just stuck our KTTW cards/photo ID in there too. They worked well to keep the phones dry, but didn't work well to take pictures through. We didn't bring anything else valuable and left everything else (shoes, cover ups, etc.) sitting on a lounge chair.

I think there has to be some degree of trusting the excursion staff around your belongings. They can't get good reviews (and future customers) if people have stuff come up missing. Of course, you need to do your part and be smart about what you take with you.

we have a KYSS bag - it works great!
Based on this and other DIS suggestions, I did order a Kyss bag. I ordered it to be personalized with a design and our name. It just arrived and it looks great! It came very quickly (I did order 'priority.') I haven't taken it on a trip yet but I have tested the lock, etc and I am very pleased with the bag and the customer service from the company. I think I will use it on many vacations to come -- even if sometimes I don't need to lock it.

Love my large Kyss, and I have taken it as personal (purse) on airlines, to Europe, 3 cruises, WDW several trips, and the beach countless times. So it has done well. Plan on taking it on next cruise. Everything fits and it locks, but we don't leave it unattended much always in sight.

If it's just the beach (or the pools on ship), I never got concerned about leaving items on/under a beach chair. You're kind of a "captive" audience, so stealing seems much less likely.
