DS will be 4 during our next trip, and is looking to be darn close to the height requirement for M:S--he's at least 42" now in bare feet. He loves Star Tours, but then again M:S is Star Tours on steroids.

Anyone else have experience with a 4 or 5 yo on M:S?

I probably won't let him ride because I doubt he'd be able to follow the directions about keeping your head still and not looking around. But I'm curious to hear if any other Dissers have taken a child that young on M:S.

If your child gets motion sick you might want to avoid it. Especially if he can't follow the directions regarding keeping his head straight.

My nephew rode it at 6-loved it! I think the younger bother(5) rode it too, no one had any problems. I however, was sick as a dog:) The kids had no problems of course, only adults.

There really is no age limit, but the child must be at least 44" and able to sit up by him/herself. This attraction does pack a lot of G force, so if you think your kiddie will get freaked out by the pressure against his/her body or cannot sit still and look straight ahead, he/she is likely not old enough to ride. Unfortunately there is no "emergency" stop button within the car, so once it starts, that is it, until it is over.

DS first did the ride when he was 5 1/2 years old. He's ridden it about 6 times and loved it. For him, WDW trips would be incomplete without at least two rides each on Mission Space and Test Track.

my DS rode it last year at 4 and loved it. His older brother opted out however so I stayed off with him. All smiles afterwards - he is really looking forward to doing it again. He was sooo proud of himself for pushing the buttons and saving Dad and Auntie.

My son, who was almost 5yo, rode it multiple times last month. He's the type of kid, as I was, that stands and twirls around until he is dizzy, and loves the feeling. The only instructions that I gave him was to keep his head back and watch the screen, but I figured that for him it wouldn't really matter. BTW, he used to throw up easily, often in the car. He's improved a lot or I might not have let him go.

My son was five when he rode it. He is generally terrified of fast rides. I thought he was going to be furious at me for taking him on it, but he was all smiles when he came off. He was even more amazed that Mars looked just like Disney World on Earth.

I would say it depends on what your child id like. If he likes fast rides and doesn't get motion sickness I would let him go. If he's too small and he does want to go ask a cm and they might let him go on :badpc: :rockband: all worship disney :worship: :thewave: :genie: :listen: :wave2: :

I have to admit, I was the one who didn't want my DS, 5, to ride Mission: Space. I thought it would be too "rough" for him. I rode it the day before and, while I loved it, I thought the "G's" would be too much for him. Well, my DH convinced me to let him go. . . and, wouldn't you know, DS LOVED it. We went on it a few times, in fact. I guess I was just being "overprotective-Mom."

The way things work in my family would be to send the 5 yr old on the ride and then have him tell me whether I would be able to handle it!

My 5 DD loves it and I think she was 4 the first time she rode. Also the first time we rode after it opened we rode 8 times in a row!

Hmm. I am now reconsidering taking my 6 year old on MS. He is autistic. He loves to spin in circles and rocks himself to sleep every night. He loves that dizzy feeling and benefits from a weighted vest he sometimes wears at school so the G's won't bother him. He loves roller coasters and is only afraid of the pitch black dark. His favorite ride is Star Tours with Soarin at DL a close second. How do you all think he would do? Oh and he has never gotten car sick or had motion sickness.

As I was reading this I realized that my DD was 4 the last time that we were at the world, and she rode it with DH. When they got off, she didn't want to go again with me. She said she liked it, but then something happened with the ride and they were stuck inside the capsule for a few minutes after the ride because the CM's couldn't open their capsule! She also loved the play area at the end of the ride, and maybe she just couldn't wait to play there. She says she'll ride it again when we go next month.

Obviously it's your call, but from what you've said I would bring him! Sounds like he would like it. If for some reason he didn't, would he get over his displeasure quickly or would you pay the price all day long?

Make sure you wear your lime green--I'll look for you! We'll be enjoying the warm (or at least warmer for me) weather soon!

T&B-Well unless he gets actually throw up sick he will get over it quickly. I think he will like it too! i will go on with my other son first and check it out. My DH gets sick on the teacups so I have to test it out first anyway, if I do o.k. on it then I think he will be fine and we will give it a try! We will have (or at least I will!) our green on! If you see us say hi!! Yes, warmer for you and almost identical weather to us!

You have to make the call based on your child. My DD4 went on it last Oct. and wanted right back on when it was over. She couldnt get enough of it.
( Once was enough for her Mommy! ) hehe

My DS (6) loved Mission Space - multiple times. He even managed to push his assignment buttons right every time.

My DH has a problem on spinny rides. He can't even watch something like the teacups anymore. He took ginger capsules the morning of Mission:Space and loved the ride. He didn't even believe that there was spinning and went on it again (and again another day). We got the 1000mg concentrated ginger capsules at GNC. They don't make a person sleepy, either.
