young teen books

Try anything by Christopher Pike. I loved his books when I was his age. The older ones are especially good... Suspenseful books but age appropriate.

My dd also enjoyed the series by Susan Beth Pfeffer! That was the first book she bought for her Kindle.

If she liked that series, she might also like Ashes Ashes. it's not quite as well written, but its the same genre.

For your younger, maybe some old-school Gordon Korman, like the Macdonald Hall series.

Korman is one of my 12-yr-old's favorite authors. She also likes Margaret Peterson Haddix. It's sometimes hard to find your niche - for example, she likes futuristic apocalyptic type fantasy  not sword-and-sorcery fantasy and not pure science fiction, and absolutely no vampires! ;) I'll have to look through her book collection tonight and see what's in there. I know she's re-reading the Hex Hall series (Rachel Hawkins) right now. What about the 39 Clues series?

Another V.C. Andrews teen reader here. For shame! lol. My Mom gave me Flowers in the Attic for Christmas one year. And I ended up reading all the way through the Dawn series in a couple of short years. I loved those books. Now I will occasionally read them as a guilty pleasure.
