Results On The Run
At the office, Phyllis tells Jack she was just leaving. She updates him that the results are in - but Nick's left town with them. This guy's a piece of work, Jack shakes his head. Phyllis has a favour to ask - take a paternity test. Jack answers with questions - once again you turn to me when Nick doesn't come through for you. Phyllis doesn't expect anything if he's the father. Jack won't turn his back - and will take the test. Hoping he would, she's already booked the appointment. Jack won't leave them all in limbo so Mr Wonderful can take a break - and he'd never take an infant away from his mother. Wow - you must have a very low opinion of me.
To Test Or Not To Test
After getting Neil's message, Carmen calls him - and is pleased he'll go to the concert with her. Discussing plans for that day, Carmen's flexible. Neil noticed - that was a long lunch you took. Carmen thinks of Jack - but arranges to meet Neil at the elevators in a half hour.
When Carmen asks Phyllis' fashion advice, she of course tells her to remove the jacket - but don't take my advice. Some people think I dress inappropriately. She wonders if Carmen's seeing Jack. We're friends - not serious. You? Phyllis couldn't be more single - see ya.
The elevator is crowded with Jack and Phyllis, Neil and Carmen - who are off to a jazz concert in the park. Jack grumbles as they walk off.
Waiting impatiently at the lab, Jack flashes back to Phyllis losing their baby - and the stress of their struggle to conceive a baby that Dr Walker said was impossible. Phyllis is surprised when Jack takes her hand. She thanks him for being patient. Jack blames Nick (whom Phyllis doesn't want to talk about). It's thoughtless - if not cruel, Jack maintains. He then flashes back to expressing his feelings - and Phyllis leading him to bed - then not wanting to mislead him - I should go home - Confronting her on the affair with Nick. I was the fool - the idiot. He snatches back his hand. If this baby's Nick's, you think he'll walk away from his marriage? You'd take up with him in a minute, Jack realizes - then leaves - having wasted enough time.
The Old and the Mindless
Vic's happy to see Hope - who's now seated (and glowing) on the sofa. Stay a while, he invites - but she vanishes when Vikki and Abby walk in (and wonder why he's talking to himself). Vic claims he was talking to the puppy. Vikki's suspicious - and after Abby goes to play with the dog, tells her father she's worried about his health. It's a topic Vic won't discuss - don't I look fine?
Once alone, Vic has another chat with Hope until Abby returns with S'mores fixings. Vic roasts the marshmallows while Abby plays with the puppy. She screams when Vic has his hand directly in the flame (yet seems to feel no pain). I'm fine, Vic assures Vikki and Abby (who insists he did it on purpose). Vic just wanted to pick up a marshmallow that fell off the stick. No - his hand doesn't hurt. Vikki wants to take him to the doctor. Vic refuses - I will NOT go to the damn doctor.
In the doctor's office, Vic downplays the incident - and again sees Hope. Vikki notices - he's doing it again - looking at something only he can see. He's having a neurological incident - that's good - might help diagnose the problem, the doctor watches the monitor - then suggests Vic has temperal lobe epilepsy. Vic has never felt more at peace. Before I was driven. He refuses to take more pills. The doctor insists - as does Vikki. In the hallway, the Doctor agrees it's good news - but gives her information and instruction on seizures. Never restrain the person - let it happen. Vikki thanks him - and will pass the info onto her mother. Back at the ranch, Vic reluctantly is forced to take a pill.
Card Sharks
Jenna introduces the Tarot card reader she's hired to do readings at the coffee house. Kevin turns over a card - rebirth - the Judgment card. Something from your past has come back and you need to deal with it before you move on. Kevin squirms.
Sitting for a full reading, Kevin picks three cards - as Jenna watches on. The underworld is his past - indicates lack of control... Present - the Chariot - hard won victory ... Future - the Tower - a big change is coming your way - things could unravel - be cautious. Kevin suggests she predict more cheerful futures - but once inside, he looks worried.
Arriving, Neil and Carmen sit for a reading. Her Past - 5 of Wands - wanting to possess material goods .... Present - 10 of Wands - prosperity .... Future - 3 of Cups - You will find your soul mate - true love will be yours.
Neil takes his turn - Stability - painful truths are in the open- Future - 2 of cups - same as Carmen's - seems obvious - you two figure it out. They laugh - the deck's stacked. Neil shouldn't be having so much fun - I'm married. Carmen doesn't think their friendship needs to jeopardize his marriage.
Alex Returns
While Daniel calls the phone company to report the crank calls, Colleen reads another note - he lied to you and he's still lying. What's THAT supposed to mean? they both wonder. Calling JT, he tells her to update Daniel on everything. She explains JT was hired to investigate Brad Carlton - and what they know thus far. The man I've known forever is a stranger. Daniel's hurt that Lily kept a secret from him. Colleen claims responsibility. Daniel worries - we need to take this seriously. Assume the worst - none of us are safe.
Now at CL's, Daniel shows Kevin the note - Alex! Remember me and my stupid plan to make you look like a hero. Kevin remembers the whole town hated him - and he took all the blame - I owe you. They think the notes are about Colleen - but Lily's the one in danger - Daniel's scared for her.
Back at the loft, Colleen and Lily talk strategy - then head out together - safety in numbers.
Alex wants something from us, Kevin and Daniel agree. Neil then wants to talk to Daniel - alone. He observes them being friendly - and finds it odd. You OK? Take care. Kevin and Daniel have a lot to lose - a business and reputation - and Lily... We have to get rid of Alex.
Alex calls Daniel and rambles on about how sexy Lily is - How do you know what she's wearing - is she with you!? Have fun - I sure will, Alex hangs up. He's with Lily! Daniel updates Kevin...
