"You want to ride Dinosaur again?" - New 10/21 - The End!

What a lovely backdrop at the pool. :thumbsup2

Nice that you guys got some time alone, but I would have been fading at that time of night (not to mention starving to death!!).

I love that the kids' meal comes in that monorail train - how cool!!!

Hi! I've been enjoying reading along! You might consider contacting WDW about the mug. I bought a minnie key chain for my neighbor. She hooked it on her backpack and the arms fell off after a few days. I called and they replaced it (with Tink--they couldn't find a minnie) for no charge at all. I don't remember the number I called (it's been over a year and a half now :sad1:), but I'll bet someone here will be able to help with that.

Anyway--keep up the great reporting!

Diane

Oooh! That's right... I forgot you could do that! Thanks, I'll tuck that away for future reference!

Amy, for a totally unplanned surprise night out, I think you did fine. After all, the main thing was to just get a little time to yourselves without the kids.

I laughed when you told us that Tim asked why you weren't staying at the Beach Club!! :lmao: Men!

Kathy

I was laughing very loudly in my head. :rotfl:

Was scanning the trip reports and saw you had one.:banana:Have to go to bed but will be back tomorrow to start catching up.:thumbsup2

:welcome: Hi Amy!! I'm so glad you found me. :goodvibes

Yahooty! And I'm in great company too :goodvibes

I wonder what the significance of the snow globes will be... :confused3

Fantastic pool pictures - what a neat pool area!

I'm glad you were able to get out alone, thanks to J & K :thumbsup2

Gorgeous picture!

Great shopping - LOVE the "mine, mine, mine" stuff - made me giggle!

That's some bad quality :sad2:

I'm sure everyone has already guessed, but I recognize that! It's Teppan Edo and their bullet train "plate" for the kids meals!

The "mine, mine, mine" stuff is really cute!! I just wish you could read the "mine, mine, mine" on the coffee mug! :headache:

Working on posting my Teppan Edo upddate today. :goodvibes

I'm finally caught up! I am falling seriously behind on all my DIS friend's TR's.

Sounds like you had a great DHS day! How fun that you and Tim got to ride TSM together!

As far as the driving goes? My DH could never handle a ride that long. The kids would be ok I think, but Jeff would never make it! Plus...like another poster said..with only a limited amount of vacation time, I'd hate to "waste" it in the car. Someday I'd like to do a road trip vacation and stop along the way to see all the cool sights...but that would be the vacation plan, not Disney. If it works for you and your family, I say go for it! That's a significant savings!

How nice that you got a night out with the hubby! Too bad you weren't able to take better advantage of it. Oh well..even strolling through the parks hand in hand with no little boys was well worth it, I'm sure! :thumbsup2

The CBR pool looks FANTASTIC!

Looking forward to more...I'm out of town for 10 days starting on Saturday..I'll have to catch up again! :headache: :rotfl:

Thanks for stopping by... I've been crazy busy this summer too - so I totally understand. I feel like I've been working on the next update forever...

Thanks for your input on the driving - we'll have to see what kind of rates come out and how Tim's bonus pans out after the new year. :confused3

I was definitely fading - if we had known we were getting a night out I would have planned a little better and we definitely would have started before 8pm!

Monorail meal coming up! :thumbsup2

:welcome: Hi Diane!! Thanks for coming out of lurkdom!

Great tip!! :thumbsup2 I'll have to do a little research and see if we can get a new mug. That would be cool. Thanks!!

I got an iPhone today!!!:banana::banana: I love it!! It's so cool!! Tim usually gets all the new toys and I get his hand-me-downs, but since he has a work phone it just didn't make any sense for him to get an iPhone... so I got one!!!! :cool1:

On to more serious matters... As eandesmom guessed, we're off to Epcot today for lunch at Teppan Edo!!!

Here’s the planned itinerary for today:

Saturday 5/2
Epcot @ RD
Character Connection?
Get Kim Possible FP
Soarin
Test Track
Mission Space
Club Cool
Nemo
Crush?
SSE
12:00 Lunch ADR @ Teppan Edo (TS #5)
Ladybugs at Germany (1:00 & 3:00)
Back to resort for break??
Explore World Showcase
5:15 Dinner ADR @ LeCellier (TS #6)
Stay until we feel like it…
Illuminations? (early morning tomorrow…)

As you can see from my wish list above, I had high expectations for today. As you will find out, we didn’t get too many of these tasks accomplished. But that’s OK – I can just carry them over onto my list for next time.

Since we had been up late and we had both lunch and dinner ADRs at Epcot today, we decided we could sleep in a bit before heading to Epcot. I made Alex stay in bed until 7:30. Tim & Zach slept until 9pm. After we got up, we went to the pool for about a half hour. My notes say 9:45- 10:15. We headed back to the room, showered and met up with Jeff & Karen at 10:30 to catch a bus. We waited for a bit but finally at 11:00 two Epcot buses pulled up at the same time. We opted for the second bus, which ended up going all the way around the resort to every stop before heading to Epcot. One of the stops had an ECV waiting. It was really funny to watch the guy park! The older woman got off the ECV ad walked onto the bus and her son?? tried to park it. Clearly it is not easy to drive an ECV! Our lunch ADR was at noon so I was getting a bit nervous. I guess it’s Murphy’s Law that we would choose the wrong bus when we were in a hurry…

We finally arrived at Epcot and decided to get two strollers today. Epcot is huge and we had some big plans for the evening that could tire out the boys. We made both boys ride in the strollers, even though Alex wanted to walk, and we practically ran to Japan. We made one pit stop along the way to pick up a Kim Possible Fast Pass. The return time was 12:45!! Not bad at all!! It was probably about 11:45 at that point.

We finally made it to Japan, parked the strollers and dragged ourselves up that long staircase. We checked in and Alex started acting up. Tim took him outside for a timeout to set him straight before our meal. Karen decided to find a bathroom. Of course they called us and only half of our party was there… they made us wait for everyone to be present so I called Tim and we waited for Karen. Luckily once we were all together they seated us right away. I had originally made the ADR for 8 expecting J & K to be there, which would have made a full table. Since we were only a party of 6, two happy walk-ins got to join us for lunch. The woman was pregnant and I was a bit afraid my boys were going to scare her about parenthood! This was the one and only time I handed out one of my autism awareness cards. I did it more for myself than for them… I felt like if there was an explanation for Alex’s behavior, I could relax a bit and enjoy myself. (At the end of the meal the woman handed me back the card and said thank you and that she thought the kids were great!)

When we were seated they told us to put the kids on the end. There was no way we were putting the two boys on the end together so Tim sat on the end with Zach and Alex sat on the corner next to Karen. Once the food was in our plates, Karen & I switched so I could cut up Alex’s food, help him open his fruit, etc.

This was the most amazing meal!! I really did not think I would love it. I said right up front that I made this ADR because I thought everyone else would enjoy it and it might be fun. I did not expect to enjoy the food so much. I really don’t like Asian food. I am very plain Jane. I’m going to try to remember who ordered what as I read the receipt (and copy some info from the menu on allears):

Tim got Asakusa - Sirloin steak and large shrimp with seasonal vegetables, Udon noodles, and steamed rice.
I got the Filet Mignon - Tenderloin steak with seasonal vegetables, Udon noodles, and steamed rice.
Alex got the Child Tori - Chicken breast with seasonal vegetables, Udon noodles, and steamed rice.
Zach got the Child’s Tempura combo - Shrimp and chicken breast with seasonal vegetables, steamed rice and dessert.

Jeff & Karen got the Filet Mignon and the Tori dinner (Chicken breast with seasonal vegetables, Udon noodles, and steamed rice) and shared. Karen, Zach & I got the Ichigo which was a really good non-alcoholic strawberry drinks. They weren’t on the dining plan, but they were delish!!

The kids really enjoyed watching our chef cook the meal. Zachary enjoyed it the most! He asked the chef why he had a bucket on his head! The chef played right along and threw a shrimp tail into his hat right after Zachary asked.

Zachary’s meal came in a monorail plate (Alex’s didn’t, but he didn’t mind):

Jeff approved of the meal:

Zach really got a kick out of his chopsticks - the server wrapped them up with a rubber band and put a little paper in between them to make them kid friendly:

We got the two desserts that were included in our dining plan – Jeff & Karen shared a Ginger Cake and I got ice cream that I shared with the kids. But we knew what we really wanted…

Kaki Gori!! I’m confused why my receipt shows only one because I thought each of the boys got one?? Karen got one too!

Up next: Kim Possible

We've never been to Teppen Edo but it looks like fun! I so want to eat out of a monorail dish! Those are so cool! :lmao:

***I just had to make an adr there for our Sept trip because my DH saw your pics and said "we have to go there!"

Yay we loved Teppan Edo!! I always get nervous sitting with strangers, it will be more relaxing for us this time with Josh and family. I am so happy you liked it, I hope Abbey's kids like it too.

I loved Teppan Edo as well... Ed and I had dinner there after he ran the half-marathon. I'd love to do it again, but I'm still a bit ambivilant about Billy sitting anywhere near a hot metal table!! Alex and Zach did so well... perhaps I may re-think this!

So glad you had a chance to sleep in and swim... mornings like that can be so therapeutic. :goodvibes

I'm guessing from the last pic that you had to pay a visit to Mitsukoshi Department Store... was it part of your KP Mission??

Kathy

NICE update! :thumbsup2 never been to Teppan Edo, we did Tokyo Dining this trip, loved it! And we got the kid friendly chop sticks too! great photos of your dining experience! we love Epcot :goodvibes

Kathy- you might want to find out if they light anything on fire. At some Teppan restaurants they light cooking oil on fire as part of the show.

Hurray for an iPhone! Have fun with it!

What a nice relaxing start to your day! I am so glad you loved Teppan Edo! We just love, love, love the food there, and our chefs are always so entertaining!!!

I recognize that picture because we did quite a few KP missions on our trip!

Congrats on the iPhone! I really really want one. I have an LG touch screen, so I'm okay with that for now, but I can't put music on it. One day...

THANK YOU for the Teppan Edo update. That is exactly what I was hoping for. It's perfect. We should have 15 in our party for that meal, so we will have only one open seat. I'm excited now. The kids are going to love it...and so will everyone else. My dad and my brother are not Asian food fans either, but my brother has been to a Hibatchi place before and specifically requested Teppan Edo for his birthday meal. I really appreciate all of the details and pictures. :goodvibes

Can't wait to see what the kids thought of KP!

I think the kids will really enjoy it! It's a fun show, plus good food. :goodvibes

Kathy

Yes - A KP Mission was in our future!! :cool1:

They put the kids on the end because there's a little more room in front of the hot cooking surface. There is some fire though - I'll comment more when I get to Heidi.

This was a great dining experience... And the kid friendly chop sticks work out well for the grown ups too. ;)

Kathy- you might want to find out if they light anything on fire. At some Teppan restaurants they light cooking oil on fire as part of the show.

Yes - I can't remember what was on fire, but I think there was one little part where there was a flame... there was also a steaming volcano of onions - but I don't think there were flames as part of that?? Just a lot of steam. Kathy - I'm sure you could let the chef know that Billy could be upset if there are flames...

The food at Teppan Edo was surprisingly good. We all had something that we enjoyed - Alex & I are VERY picky - but they made it work for us. :thumbsup2

Yes - KP it is!!

I'm glad you enjoyed the update. A group of 15 will be great for Teppan Edo. The restaurant was broken down into rooms. Our room had 4 tables so you could end up taking up half of a room with your group. I enjoyed the noodles a lot - plus of course the filet was fantastic. They also brought out bowls of white rice for everyone. :)

Teppan Edo is definitely going on my list for next time, whenever that may be. You can't beat dinner and a show.:thumbsup2 I knew you'd be back for more Kaki Gori. What flavors did the boys like?

We did a couple KP missions, but not in Japan.

Teppan Edo does sound and (look) :goodvibes really fun....I was thinking about booking it for our upcoming trip but Chefs de France won out-Remy is there...(Tokyo Dining sounds cool too...:cool2:)

I'm really curious about the Kaki Gori- I think DD and DS would both like those-does the syrup melt in?...(Mommy wants a Grand Marnier Slushie...:lmao:)

I'm looking forward to the KP missions-we're dying to try them...:woohoo:

Bring on more trippie...bring on more trippie...:surfweb:

(this is actually terrible-I just started reading trip reports in the last month and I think I have actually become addicted...:confused3)

Yeah Teppan Edo!

In a lot of ways it is plain food, just grilled on the VERY hot hibachi! you can choose, or not, to dip it. I love the way the make the kids chopsticks "usable" for them. I think, for the kids, it seems incredibly exotic although it's pretty basic food (grilled steak, chicken or shrimp or some combo of).

That said it is well done, and yummy and quite entertaining. I thought they did a great job focusing on the heat and danger, I worried about my kids and it was fine.

I would agree, it exceeded my expectations :) my kids favorite, hands down.

Zachary liked the red - strawberry?? He tried a rainbow one and didn't like the melon. Alex got the red one. :goodvibes

Yet another great review for Teppan Edo. :thumbsup2 I think I'll have to add it to my list.

Really fun & really yummy! :thumbsup2

Trip reports are very addictive - especially when I have a trip in the works.

How can I describe Kaki Gori... It's like a snowcone, but more snowy than icy... And the syrup definitely melts right into all of it. When you take a bite you get a ton of flavor and since it isn't icy the flavor isn't as watery as a snowcone. Does that make sense?? :confused3

KP mission will be coming up soon... maybe not today though. ;)

Glad to hear you enjoyed it too!! You're right - it is pretty plain food, just cooked in a way that's different from what you normally expect. I had expected sauces mixed into everything but they put those on the side for dipping so it worked out perfectly. :thumbsup2
