"You set me up" and it only went downhill from there - Pop Sept. 2010 TR - THE END!!

Okay I meant to write tonight, but its MNF and I got home to cat throw up on the couch to clean up and I needed to go to Target to try and fix my decorations.

So Saturday, BF and I go out to Target so I can get decorations. I had previously bought fall garland at a craft store at a discount, before the rain we had last week. I showed him all the things I wanted to get to decorate. I get about 75% of it knowing I'm going to come back later and get the rest of it. Naughty I know, but I wanted it to be how I want it and he doesn't care.

I go back out after he leaves work, get the rest of the supplies I think I need, and get home and line everything up to get put up. To make life easier I'm going to use zip-ties to hold everything on. The garland is going along the fence in the front of the house and wrapped with LED lights in orange, green, and purple (multi purpose I feel, I can use it for Mardi Gras!). Then I have light up ghosts that get staked in the ground to line the walkway to the house. I also bring up our solar timer and extension cord from Christmas.

I start by plugging the extension cord into the solar timer and leave enough room to plug it into the house later. Then plug the ghosts into the extension cord, then the lights for the fence into the end of that and wrap it around the garland. Great! That side of the walkway is set. To get to the other side of the walkway I'm planning on using an extension cord to go over a trellis and repeat on the other side.

But here's the problem... the extension cord is three pronged, the outlet on the lights is only two pronged. So first trip is to Home Depot to look for an adapter. After being reprimanded for doing this, after explaining its for outdoor lighting exactly like they are selling in the front of the store and I'm just trying to get the electricity outside over the walkway. I'm handed an adapter and he turns away from me. Great! I head home to use the adapter. Three prong side fits fine, but there's an issue! The two prong side has one prong wider than the other and it won't fit. AUGH!!!!

So I'm not about to go back to Home Depot after they steer me in the wrong way. So I head to Target. I look if they have any two prong extension cords for outdoors. Nope. Well I can either add more lights to the display over the trellis to get to the other side, or get a really long extension cord, add it to the one I have already and try to run the walkway and over the trellis. Set of light $9.99, extension cord $9.99. I'd rather have more lights! So I look and look and look and hem and haw and decide on these really cute green, orange, and purple bat lights that will match perfectly! I am very excited, purchase them and head home.

I open up the package all excited to use them and..... I can't use the bat lights! There is a plug to plug in, but you can't connect it to another set. Darn it! By now its about 7:30pm. Luckily my neighbor with the three year old goes and ask her husband and he has something that will work so I can plug in the extension cord. She stays outside and helps me finish the other side of the yard and by now its 8pm. Its been a long three hours!

Hi, OP! I've enjoyed your trip report. I just wanted to chime in with a word of caution regarding your lights. Please be careful not to overload the circuits, you could cause a fire. The reason that the HD guy didn't want to sell you an adapter is because you really shouldn't use one, especially outdoors. I'm sure they are not supposed to recommend them as they could be held libel if something were to go wrong.

This is Fire Prevention Week in the US so I would just encourage you to read all your instructions to make sure you aren't stringing too many lights together in an unsafe fashion.

It is cool that you are going all out with the decorations, the trick or treaters will love it! Thanks!

Thanks for posting. I'll have make sure we don't have too many strung together. I know we have under ten things plugged out there. We've only had them on for two days. I don't have them plugged in currently, but probably will this weekend for a few hours.

The Home Depot guy was asking me what kind of lights I was plugging in and I think he thought I was lying, because he said something about you wouldn't want to use this for tools. I had to keep explaining it was for christmas lights. We never did using the adapter. I actually unplugged the lights and what my neighbor gave me to use, because I was worried how it would hold up and I didn't want anything to happen to it.

Thanks for the advice!

So while we were waiting for our food, I ran to a nearby store to see what they had for vinyls. I was disappointed and returned just as our server was picking up our food to deliver it!

It was so good, I knew I was going to like the mashed potatoes, fried onion strings, and bacon wrapped meatloaf, but I wasn't sure about the sauce but it was so good, it was like a ketchupy bbq sauce or something, it just made the plate.

After we were done we headed off to Goofy's Candy Co. to finish up our snack credits, we left there with 2 rice krispie treats (one chocolate topped), one mickey peanut butter cup (that is still in my fridge), one mammouth pecan patty, and one pecan caramel roll. Five ewwy gooey treats for the trip home to be packed to carry on!

We caught the Pop bus with no wait and we were on our way. Our ME pick up time was for 3:15pm and luggage assistance told us to be there by 3pm. So I think we were on the bus around 2:15pm. An hour to get back to Pop with knowing there will be a stop at the Westside and the Waterpark and then straight to Pop it should be no problem!!!

We pull up to Westside and our bus driver gets off the bus, and a couple minutes later two bus drivers get one. One is in training and will be driving the bus. We pulled away from Westside around 2:30pm. And we very slowly and carefully make our way to the Waterpark. Here is where BF makes a comment how it would have been nice if we had Mario Andretti from last night driving the bus right now, because panic is starting to over take me. Do they let you on a later ME if you miss the one you are suppose to take? So I'm pretty sure we had the same driver as AnnMarieta did, but probably after he returned from dropped her off and getting back to MK in record time.

Waterpark pick up goes fine. And we're off to Pop as I'm watching each minute get closer and closer to 3pm. We pull in and stop before crossing over to make our way all the way down to the DTD bus stop. *This is also something "Mario Andretti" didn't do last night. Because we were all the way in the front right by him we saw the stop sign whiz by. We have never been so thankful to get off a bus! We get there at 2:59pm and walk as close to the buses as possible to get over to luggage assistance to pick up our bags for carryons and put all our goodies into them.

We walk over to the ME pick-up area for 3:15pm and wait.... and wait and wait..... In the meantime BF goes on a photo shoot of Pop since we never got to walking around the place and checking it all out. Finally the bus shows up around 3:30pm! We get on the bus and BF looks like this:

Have you ever seen him look so happy? Nope me neither and this is because we are leaving Disney!!!!

We arrive to the airport a little after 4pm, our flight is at 6:15pm. I go to the restroom to change into jeans. I'm always cold on the plane and we head up to check our gate.........

when airport karma happens.......

So I've been lazy, I bring my camera places and just forget to take pictures, because I'm too busy experiencing the moment, but then later on I forget the moment because I have no pictures!

Once a year, they shut down a street by Fenway Park and this TV show called the Phantom Gourmet brings all these restaurants to give away food free (well you have to purchase a ticket to get in).

Here are photos from the pizza eating contest:

The guy with the black shirt and mohawk came in 3rd, the guy in the white shirt 2nd and the guy in the balck shirt next to mohawk guy came in first eating 35 pieces of pizza (each pizza was 12 slices) in 10 minutes.

My friends we came with during the pizza eating contest:

No we're not in Disney:

We went early and started in the back of the street. Worked really well for getting to eat lots of food early, until the heat got us. It was about 80 and sunny with no where to hide but the open bars, which all had lines 20 people back.

Here's BF & I:

I almost fell over when I read that you got onto the pop bus from DTD with no wait....and then I read on.:rotfl2: I know the buses are not always like they were that week. The other times I have used them they were amazing. I hate to think it was just that it was Pop (a value).

So sad that your TR is to the point of you being at the airport. :sad2: It goes by too fast.

The food festival looks fun. Great pics! You look so pretty with your (was that a?) candy necklace on!:goodvibes.

Have missed a few of your last posts but am all caught up now!! I think your cats are really cute in their t-shirts. Do they like wearing outfits? I know many pets that hate outfits.

Sniff, you are at your final hours in your TR. Hopefully you can prolong it by posting all your photopass pictures at the end.

That street fair looks fun! I love street fairs. They have a bunch of them in NYC on the weekends, and it always promises cheap, greasy food, unusual trinkets and just overall good times. Cute pictures of you and your DBF. I can imagine how happy he must have been to leave Disney. I'm sure your expression was completely different from his, LOL.

For some reason at DTD was the only place we didn't have a problem getting a Pop bus. I'm not sure why that was, maybe we just timed that one right.

I know I have a long story about the airport both leaving MCO and arriving home. I order the photopass pictures finally. So I'll have to update when I get those..... plus I have a special picture taken in honor of Joyce. When I saw it, it reminder me of her PTR and I couldn't help myself!

Yes they had out candy necklaces on the way in. The first year it was all ages and a mess, with stollers and trying to get around. Now its only 21+ but its a mess with drunk people, but I'd pay for the ticket time and time again as long as its under $40 and I can eat that much worth of food, coming off free dining at Disney, we did some damage.

I wanted to make them into Minnie and Mickey Mouse with their coloring. Their paws are white and arms are black so I thought it was perfect. Then an angel and devil, then I settled for t-shirts because they don't ever wear collars!(bad I know they outgrew their old ones and I haven't picked up new ones yet) so they aren't used to having anything on them. At first they didn't like the clothes, now they don't like them, but they'll wear it. I'm trying to put them in the shirts for bits of time every few days to build up to wearing them all day Halloween.

I just ordered the PhotoPass photos on Monday! Hopefully I get them not too long from now.

Oh I deleted the pictures of my sad puppy pouting face because we were leaving. But I was sort of looking forward to seeing my cats. We almost brought them with us to put in the kennel.

I'm sorry, but you sound like such a great person, and you love Disney. Why would you saddle yourself with someone who's so miserable?
I don't mean to sound mean, but he just doesn't sound like someone who's going to change anytime soon, and if you love Disney so much, and he's so unpleasant, why would you want to deal with that?
JMO!
You're a nice, lovely young woman!!!! Why put up with this!

The trip report was wonderful!!!!!! Thank you!
My husband and I have 3 fur kids as well!

Just wanted to add a 'word of wisdom' here, from someone now 53 years old, and married 2 years and some months ago to 'the right man'.

I, one time, had a guy who sounds alot like yours. He had his moments, but looking back, there weren't many. We eventually split up. It was my decision, because I came to realize that he just did not love what was important to me, and couldn't relate.

Fairly soon after that, I met my now husband. He is like my twin in some ways, only better! He loves to travel, adores our cats, and loves Disney and any possibility of a road trip, he's for it if we can swing it.

If he's this way now, he will be that way always. He may mellow a bit, but you can't change a person.

I loved your trip report, and thought it sounded sooooo much fun, despite the grumpy boyfriend. I hope I haven't spoken out of turn, it's just at my age, I don't like to see a lovely young woman like being treated that way.

I'm glad you had fun, regardless!!!!

Fyre:wizard:

I would love to know how you make your DH #1 go on another trip and #2 make him have a better time each time!

It really does help me to get it all out there, not so much to relive it. I mean some good stuff did happen, but I just couldn't get as excited as I wanted to be about it because I had him with me. I'm trying to decide whether to do a quick weekend trip in the next couple months to make up for it.... or do a long trip around this time next year only for people who would really want to be there.

I appreciate your words of wisdom. We'll just have to wait and see what the future holds! Funny thing is he told his ister he had a great time and that I planned everything out and got us into really good restaurants. He has told me that it was just so hot and he wasnt' prepared for all that walking. I feel like I could have insisted on going back to the resort to rest, because the days we took small little breaks we did better being together. I might have gone a little too much park commando since I hadn't been there in so long and not sure when I'd get back.

I like to think what I'd do differently if he gave me a second chance. There's a few things and hopefully it would make a difference. But he's not too keen on the fact that I haven't stopped talking Disney for about 4 months now. I"m going to try and give him a break from Halloween until just before Christmas. I think a lot of his reality is causing him some unwanted stress.

I'm just going to enjoy my life and what I'm doing with it, while I have the chance to live it.

Hi to your fur babies!

Sounds like a great meal, but a stressful bus ride! I am worried about airport karma. Is this good? Bad? What a cliffhanger!

Oh, and your halloween decorations sound amazing! What fun!

Hello! I'm way behind (trying to stay focused on work -- silly students, wanting their teacher to grade their papers! :)), but I love the cats in tshirts! The Boston pics were great too -- is it sad that I recognized Fenway just from the wall? I went to college in Boston, but that was a long time ago!

My PP CD arrived about a week after I ordered it, so yours shouldn't be too much longer!

Hmmm, maybe next year will be time to convince Ben to give the Phantom food festival another shot...

A picture in honor of me? Oooooh, I can't wait to see!

With me it always starts bad, but ends up good.

I'm going to have to take some pictures of them to share. I'm holding on to some goodies to put out until Halloween, because I want to surprise people with it. I also don't want to make the house too scary. Last year the neighbors on the other side, made they house look all creepy and scary and no kids wanted to go there.

Its okay that you are behind, you have a job that actually takes your attention. I just sit in front of a computer bored for 8 hours a day losing my brain cells. Its okay I think most Boston people can recognize things that others can't.

So maybe I'll have it by Monday? I left Disney with 183 pictures and by the time I was done editing and adding borders I was at 237. I didn't do too many borders, since if they get here and I print them out, I might want something else, and then I was arguing with myself that I should put every border on in case I wanted it later. Eventually I just left it, but I got to use the cool Halloween and fall borders that had just come up!

Oh yes, then you can join our crazy group of how much food can you eat before its too crowded!:rotfl: Its probably going to be either right before you go back to Disney, or while you are there.

Yes its definantly in honor of you. With some strange, I'm going to make werid faces and poises pictures as well. Seriously its like my brain shuts off and I just do whatever I feel (within reason) at Disney. I like to keep things PG at worse.

I'll probably post them today after I get a update about my day yesterday out.

I haven't wanted to working where I am for the last 9 months, which doesn't seem like a lot, but I've only been here for a year. I've been applying for jobs, even went on a couple interviews. I thought I was close to getting out of here a few times, but it just hasn't happened yet. I feel very trapped at my job, like there will be no forward advancement, no way to become anything more than I am, and you add that to the fact that I have found more than a few disappointments with where I am now and it adds up to an unhappy me having to be here. I've been thinking about changing careers, or moving, or whatever so that I wouldn't have to be here any more.

Before starting this job, I was unemployed for six months. I had previously been working for a job I loved, with a lot of advancement for me, and they kept their promises. Unfortunantly, the economy tanked and they had to make cuts and I was one of those many cuts they made. I don't really care for how they handled letting people go, and I've heard from a couple other people their stories, which is even worst than my "normal" we're letting you go story. But I've never been happier than working there.

Where I work now actually does work for where I was working (karma) so from time to time I have to call my old company, or people I know well and used to work with call me and I get to talk to them before passing their phone calls over.

Now with the back story done, let's continue on to yesterday.....

So I had a very werid day yesterday..... I mean it started out like any other. I got up, went to work, and didn't want to be at work. I keep my phone on silent during work time. I can still check texts, missed calls, etc. But I don't want everyone at work to know about it, especially since its my main number and once in a great while I get a call about a job.

So yesterday about a 1/2 hour before lunch time I looked at my phone to see if BF had written me or anyone else had. I like distractions from where I am when at work. I noticed I had a missed call and voice mail. Instead of listening to the voice mail right away, I looked and the number. I knew that number, but it wasn't saved on my phone. Hmmm.. well I know what kind of number that is! Its a number from the main office of where I was working, but who's extension is that? As being that I would sometimes work in the main office answering phones, I had learned a few important extensions and I tend not to forget numbers. That number belongs to the HR person at my old company. Very werid. I listen to the VM, this is so and so from old company. I just wanted to talk to you, I would love it if you gave me a call back. My number is, Look forward to talking to you. Okay werid call, HR person wouldn't normally call me and I haven't talked to them since "that day". I write a quick email to my old boss asking about the above mentioned phone call. Ten minutes later I miss a phone call from my old boss on my cell phone.

At lunch time I call my old boss back, he's in a meeting, he'll call me back. He calls me and we talk for a few minutes and all he knows is that HR person came to him and asked if they had an opportunity to rehire me, should they and he said yes. Well at least the call wasn't about them looking for something or being mad at me for something. I have a way too active imagination. Where's figment when I need him!

I call HR person back after lunch, no answer. I leave a message. About an hour later I get a call from another person at my old company, this person I have in my phone has called me once before in a year and a half and I got one email from, so its not exactly normal for me to get a call from them. I keep checking my phone to see if HR person has called back. Nope. Oh well there is always tomrorow. I get in my car to drive home and literally 5 minutes later, HR person calls. They might have an admin position opening up and wondering if I would think about coming back to them. They'll know for sure if they have the position in about a week. He'll call me back then and let me know for sure if they have a position.

Has anyone been let go from a job they love ( I mean heart crushed, love of your life lost) and gone back to it? Even after hearing the job they love, doesn't always treat people right? Would you say yes because you are unhappy where you are and see no way out? I just need some advise. I've been asking everyong I can. Thanks for reading this!

Its strange when people you know or don't know have this affect where you see something which reminds you of them so you have to take a picture of it to share it with them later....

In those regard I give you the picture in honor of Joyce (and Ben). I might as well throw him in there too!
