You Said What to Alice and the White Rabbit?-the end, 1/10 pg 15

Wow, I can't believe how long it has been since I last updated on this trip! Sorry it has taken so long to get through it. It shouldn't take me much longer and then I am on to mine and Jeremy's pre-Thanksgiving trip!

I last left you at the pool from enjoying a wonderful morning at the MK. However, I forgot to mention what happened at the pool this day. We were up at the top of the slide at the BLT pool and a mother and her child was in front of us. The little girl looked like she was probably three. She had no life vest on. The mother lets her go down the slide and steps over to look at her come down. She then starts screaming and yelling. The child was going under. The mother started screaming that her daughter couldn't swim!!! The mother races down the steps and by the time she got there the lifeguards already had her out of the water. The little girl was fine. It still shocks me thinking back on it. I can't imagine why that mother let her go down first if she knew she couldn't swim. It was very puzzling.

After a fun afternoon at the pool, we headed in to get cleaned up for dinner. We were heading to the WL and a dismeet. However, we waited for almost 45 minutes for a boat to the WL. People were trying to get to FW for their dinner events and almost all the boats that came were full and only a few people could get on. I was starting to get worried.

When we got to the lodge, I sent Tom to WCC to check us in and I went in search of MeMom and her gang but couldn't find them. I joined Tom back at WCC and saw MeMom leaving so I hurried out to meet them. As usual, Caren, Jill and the girls were so nice. We got a picture but it appears that it didn't load in photobucket. So, Memom---you owe me one!!!

Dinner at WCC was good but sort of odd. The waitress was wonderful. She went and made Tom his own pitcher of sweet tea. Jeremy got in the ketchup action some.

However, the salad never came until way after the main course. That is the highlight of my meals anymore so it was a little disappointing.

After dinner we browsed throught the gift shop and took the boat back to the MK to take the monorail back to our room. I did some laundry before we headed to bed.

We headed to DHS the next day. I think it was at this part of the trip that Jeremy had misplaced his sunglasses. That child cannot keep sunglasses! He goes through at least 3 pairs a year. I am going to let the pictures tell you what we did that day and speed this trip up a little bit!!

Lunch was at pizza planet.

I think Tom likes pizza planet as much as Jeremy does!

We left DHS mid afternoon and rested some back at BLT.

Dinner was at O'hana's that evening. The food was good but at this point, I had decided that the dining plan was way too much for me and it seemed like a waste of a lot of money. I am not sure that we will ever do the dining plan with table service again. Time will tell.......

I am not sure if I had mentioned it or not but Jeremy fell in love with Community Hall at BLT. He loved going there. As soon as we got back from the Poly, he was headed down there to see what he missed. It looks like it was Character Mask night and he brought me back one of my favorite characters-Daisy.

Earlier in the week he made a Mickey ceramic and it was finally ready for him to bring back to the room.

I loved this view walking from the CR to BLT.

Well, I have to get back to work. My desk is piled high and lunch is over. I will post the last day tomorrow and start getting caught up on all my Dis friends wonderful reports.

I don't get people and water. To this day, I am still looking for Jeremy in the pool and he is a great swimmer.

We built our house several years ago and put in a pool in the backyard. At the time, I really didn't swim that well. You would have died laughing watching Tom and me. I was determined that I wanted to be able to save someone in case that ever happened in our pool. Tom would go to the bottom and I would dive down to try and bring him up!!! It was hilarious but I finally got it!!! If I could save that man, I would hopefully be able to save anyone.

That slide story is unbelievable. Where did that lady think the slide was going to end.....in some nice soft sand? Please? Maybe she had one too many adult beverages. Stupid mom.

I thought for sure I posted at some point but I guess I didn’t! But, I remember reading a bunch of your posts!

UGH!! What a check in experience! I would not have been pleased! But, envisioning your hubby snoring in the lobby made me giggle!

Oh my goodness! I’m so glad the money envelop was safe and sound at home!!!

Woo hoo for a pool day at Kidani! This is going to sound odd in a July TR but both times we’ve stay at Kidani it was too cold to swim!!!

I LOVE Jeremy’s puppet!! Does he still play with it? I’ve looked at them several times for the kids but haven’t purchased one!

Ahhh, Remy!! So cute! Armand is quite funny! He found my picture taking and large camera lens amusing last May. Although, I know a Diser or 2 who saw him out of Chef’s and it seems that accent is very good acting

I’m so glad Tom is feeling better! That must have been a little nerve wracking! I had my gallbladder removed after DD9 was born and I can tell you for sure a gallbladder attack is AWFUL!

Ummmmm, why in the heck would the lady let her daughter go down the slide if she couldn’t swim?! OMG!!!

I thought the Mickey was very cute also. He also made a duck bobble head but for some reason I missed getting that picture. He thought community hall was lots of fun.

Boy, I can't believe how fast Jeremy has grown up. Looking back at all our Disney trips it is hard to believe how little he was when we first started going. He will be 10 next month--a dining plan adult! He is getting a little birthday surprise in Feb---I am booking the train tour at MK as one of his presents since he will be 10 when we go in April. He loves trains so he will be super excited about that.

So in my haste to get through this report, I left some details out from my last post. I should have noted that the day was July 3rd. It finally dawned on me that Jeremy and I did something extra fun that afternoon. We were about to head out of DHS when Jeremy asked to go see the Little Mermaid show. Tom wasn't feeling it so I told him we would go by ourselves and he could go back to the room. This was the first time I had ever ventured alone with Jeremy at Disney. After the show, we went back to the room and Tom was in a deep sleep. We weren't that tired yet so we decided to do some shopping at the MK and hopped on the monorail. We bought some things and then enjoyed an ice cream sandwich at the Bakery---all I can say was yummy! We went back to the room and got a little nap before O'hana's. Now, while it may not mean a lot to some, I felt so good about myself that I could navigate my way around Disney with just Jeremy. I sometimes feel that the 24 year old independent went out the door when Tom and I married. Now I am a 35 year old mess!!! Who knew that little bit of confidence would be enough to take Jeremy on my own in November. Well, enough babbling....

Also, that night after O'hana, we went back to Fantasia Gardens to play a round of miniature golf from the day we got rained out. We had hoped to get back to BLT prior to the pre-4th of July Fireworks at MK but they were already starting and boy, what a line of traffic to get into the CR. We watched them from the car while we waited. It was crazy.

We changed our plans for the 4th of July. Originally, we planned to go to Epcot and have dinner at Coral Reef. But we weren't feeling it so I cancelled the reservation and we got up bright and early and went to ..............

I have never done the MK on a holiday so I wasn't sure what to expect. As you can see, so far the crowds weren't too bad. Our main goal was to do Tomorrowland since we hadn't been in that area yet.

We started at the Tomorrowland speedway. Jeremy drove by himself for the first time.

I didn't take a lot of pictures as we were running from one ride to the next, literally---no one was there. We did the speedway several times, Buzz Lightyear, the people mover, and Jeremy and I did astro orbiter for the first time. Yes, we have been to Disney how many times and never rode that. Oh my, that thing scared me to death while Jeremy loved it. Tom and I let him ride it again several times by himself while we watched from the ground. We went to the carousel of progress and the CM actually suggested we go to a more popular ride as the park would fill up fast. Sorry bud, we are true Disney fans and think the CofP is a classic so we are going on. It was good as usual.

We got everything completed in Tomorrowland when Jeremy wanted to head to Fantasyland and then the Hall of Presidents. We decided to take a spin on the tea cups (he and I that is---Tom sits this one out. I need to!)

I wasn't looking at Tom for the picture because more than likely I had my eyes closed so I wouldn't get sick!

When we got off Alice and the White Rabbit were getting on so I let Jeremy ride by himself so could join in the fun.

As soon as he got off he ran to get in line to meet Alice and the White Rabbit. Once again, the tween was gone and the child was out in full force. I love these rare moments!

Disclaimer: Now, before I tell you what he said to Alice, I must tell you my child is a VERY good kid. He doesn't give Tom and I a lot of grief. He does well in school and is nice to other kids. He lets other kids pick on him more than any person should but has a very high tolerance level. (He sure didn't get that from me!) He is also a lot like me and very naive to the ways of the world. He hears A LOT of bad stuff at school and often time doesn't even realize the meaning of what he repeats.

As you can see he is having some nice conversation with Alice and the White Rabbit. I am too far back and can't hear what he is saying or what they are saying to him.

Then, as I take this picture I notice the smile is gone off Alice's face and she quickly says to Jeremy, "Well, let's get your picture" and is completely ignoring him.

I thought it was odd but she smiled very nicely for the next picture and we were on our way.

We decided to walk back through Tomorrowland as Fantasyland was getting really crowded. I said to Tom that I thought Jeremy had said something to upset Alice. Tom asked him what he said and boy, it was a doozy.

Alice asked him if he knew any good jokes and Jeremy proceeded to tell her one he heard at school about the local Cincinnati-syle chili chain in our town. They are known for their three-way which is spaghetti, chili and cheese. Here is Jeremy's joke:

What did the bus driver say to the blonde at the drive thru window?

Can I get a three way of chili?

Oh, but wait......Jeremy left out the of chili part! So, yes, my son was telling a bad joke. Tom and I could have died. Tom immediately started getting on Jeremy about not repeating what he hears at school and telling jokes unless he tells us first. Jeremy was totally confused because he thought the bus driver wanted chili.

After that fiasco, Jeremy need to cool off some. The child was embarrassed and still doesn't understand what he did wrong to this day and I think it should stay that way.

My DS9 is very, very much the same as Jeremy! He is very naive! Numerous times he's said things he's heard from the older boys on the bus and it ended up with me nearly having a heart attack!

Thanks! I am really a great swimmer now. Tom was a big help. Had anyone ever told you that if someone is bigger than you and you can't get them up easily to bring them up by their hair? Tom told me to do that this summer and it worked with him. I wondered if he was pulling my leg. He is a big joker you know! Just curious.

I meant to tell you what he said when we were in Charlotte but I knew it would embarrass him to death and then I forgot.

Don't you just love that age! Kids hear things at school now they should never hear. Or at least they won't hear at our house. I can't believe some of the jokes/songs/ riddles Jeremy comes home saying and has no clue about it.

I guess we should be proud. If our kids are naive they have never been exposed to those things so we are doing a great job!!!

Going back and reflecting on the 4th of July morning, we did salvage the embarrassing moment by visiting the Hall of Presidents. We love this show and it was even more special seeing it on the 4th of July.

For lunch, we ate at the Plaza which was a first for us. I can't remember what each of us had but it was delicious. This was a new found gem for us. Not sure I would ever use a dining credit as it is reasonably priced but we will definitely go back.

It was a little after noon when we finished lunch and the 4th of July crowds had arrived. We were tired and ready for a break so we slowly made our way out of the park. There was a noon parade so we watched part of that (sorry no pictures!!! The crowds were too much for me to take!).

We finished up some shopping in the emporium when a CM did one of the nicest things to Jeremy. She had waited on he and I the day before and remembered us. She gave him another American flag pin and told him he needed a Celebrating button. Jeremy told her it wasn't his birthday. She said that didn't matter-it was America's birthday and he should have a pin! She made his day.

CMs would tell him Happy Birthday and never notice the pin said USA on it. He would just laugh, smile and go on. He was in pure heaven over that pin.

We left the MK and hopped on our last monorail ride over to BLT.

When we got there, they were doing Mickey Tie Dye's in Community Hall so Jeremy and I stopped by to do that.

I should have gotten more pictures of him in community hall but there were a lot of kids in there at the time.

After finishing the shirt and bagging it up to come home, we hit the BLT pool for some afternoon fun.

Jeremy and this little boy next to us enjoyed playing in the pool and we soon found out that the parents were from an area close to where I grew up. We had actually attended the same college at the same time. It was fun talking to them and we knew a lot of the same people. It truly is a small world at Disney!

The afternoon would not have been complete without some pool excitement and lifeguard action. We were sitting there when the whistle blew and a lifeguard went diving in the water. This time it was a lot more serious as they were actually doing CPR on the child. He ended up being okay and was sitting up in no time. In a matter of minutes, there were extra lifeguards on site and management was rolling in (on segways I might add). Oh, and finally, a parent showed up! Yep, I said that right, once again we have a parent not watching their child who was clearly 3 or 4 years old!!! Evidently, the child came down the slide too soon and head first and hit another child. It knocked him out a little bit and he started drowning. And of course, the dad is not even watching the water but having a drink. He finally noticed the commotion and realized it was his child. Before long he makes them bring security out and he starts looking for the child that "hit" his kid---unbelievable! The lifeguard had seen the whole thing and quickly set the record straight. At this point, it was obvious he was out for some type of "reward" from the resort for what had happened to his child. Management had them take the child away on a stretcher to get him further checked out and I think to get the dad away from everyone else. This went on for about 30 minutes and it was probably at minute 25 when Mom showed up from their room! Once again, this was another incident that could have been avoided had the parent being doing their job.

We stayed at the pool until 5 or 6. We had dinner at the Contempo Cafe and enjoyed the MK fireworks at the Top of the World Lounge. Whew, it was packed that evening but we got a good spot to watch them.

As we came back to the room and started packing up, we could hear and actually see the Epcot fireworks in the distance. I tried to get a picture but it didn't work really well.

Tom and I packed up a lot of the car that night. We got up at 4 a.m. the next morning and started the long ride home. Getting up early helped us make good time and were pulling in our driveway around 7:00 p.m. that night.

This was one of the best vacations we have taken as a family. It was very relaxing and it was nice to just go with the flow.

Some of our highlights was buying our first annual pass, having a savannah view room, staying DVC and even Jeremy's bad joke. I think we will never forget this trip for that reason alone!

It was also nice knowing that with DVC we would really be going back home very soon!
