You might be a red neck if you use zip strips to hang your ornaments on your tree. FYI I didn't do this.

It's one of those plastic strips that you can wrap around cords and such and they tighten but you have to cut it off to get it off.

OK, outdoor trees are ok with these right...please tell me moving to Pennsylvania did not turn me into a redneck BTW, is the term insulting or not? I always thought it was but Jeff Foxworthy seemed to make it endearing... Well him and songs like "Redneck Yacht Club".

Well the one that did this really is a red neck, I can sy that as he is my brother and he admits it. We all laughed and thought it was funny. He even told me I should send it to Jeff Foxworthy. LOL

Here I was actually thinking it might be a good idea...
I have a pre-lit tree, so I could zip-tie all of the ornaments on now before I take the tree down, then next year it's all ready to go!!

I think its one of those words that if you are one its ok to use it but if you are not one its insulting to call others

Like my friends and I all call each other Rednecks/Hicks, but if someone we dont know or isnt from around here calls us one, its not offensive per say, but kinda like you dont know me how dare you call me that.

Your being short sighted, you don't need cable ties for that.

My grandmother last decorated her tree in 1978--she lived until 1999. Seriously, she found a tree stand on wheels--and after the holiday she unplugged the tree and wheeled the whole thing decorated into a closet. Every year she just folded up the tree skirt, and added any new ornaments people gave her--total set up time less than 5 minutes.

As a little kid it always amazed me how she knew exactly where every ornament was---little did I know they had been in the same place for more than 10 years at that point.

Zip ties are right up there with duct tape when it comes to usefulness. We always make sure we have plenty of both around the house.

Agree with indiemom, zip ties are much too fancy for rednecks. That is more like "geek" or "nerd".

I was certainly a redneck this yr. I had my tree up with no ornaments and had a few dog toys in the tree.
