...your oldest is studying Egypt in 6th grade, and she comes home and says today she saw this HILARIOUS OLD VIDEO in class, from Saturday Night Live, of some guy singing a "King Tut" song!
I saw that the night it was on!!!! I have the single! I think I was in 8th grade!
When do you feel a little "older"?
Robin M.

I swear Robin, I just said this to my husband last week on my 37th birthday: "I know I'm getting older because I'm plucking grey hairs from my head, and black hairs from my chin!":headache:

I felt old when the following happened to me:

I was shopping at the mall about 2 months ago with 2 DS's ages 4 and 1. A girl about 12 years old and a bunch of boys about the same age came up to me. The girl asked me if I would do her a favor. I said "what?" and she said (and I quote) "could you pretend to be me and his mom so that we could get our cartilage pierced?" (insert dingy pre-teen girl at the mall voice here)!!!!!!!!!!

I of course said NO WAY (I guess proving how old and square I am) and they left to find another victim.

Then I started to think just what the *&%$ made this kid think I was old enough to be her mother?! I AM ONLY 32 YEARS OLD (and I look way younger, I was carded at my office Christmas party last week!)!!!

If that doesn't make you feel old, I don't know what does!!

Ok, I got one. I was at the video game store buying Zelda for my son for Christmas. The kid behind the counter says, "you're going to love this game. My mom loves it too." I am 36. I am NOT old enough to be a 20 year old's mom!!!

It hurt big time when a kid first called me...Mam! :earseek:

Oh I forgot this one...a week ago Friday I went to the grocery store to mail my BIL's Christmas package to Iraq, and I was making small talk with the young girl at the mail counter, and she said "oh, is your son over there?" No, actually my son is only 5 YEARS OLD!! Yes I know there are 40 year olds with sons in Iraq, but it made me feel pretty crappy. I don't want to LOOK like I have a son that old!

I was called Mr. Phrebert, and I didn't respond with "Mr. Phrebert is my father.

When I see your name, Rockin Robin, now mind you, I am one of those people when I see something and it reminds me of a song, I start singing that song.

Remember the song Rockin Robin, Tweedle Dee Dee... Well, I was on DIS the other day and I saw one of your post, so I start singing that song and my DS says, What are you singing??
LOL

Or when I am at work and the kids here ask me what the 80's were like and I start telling them I graduated in 1981 and they respond I was not even born then. That really makes me feel old

I graduated HS in 1980. College kids today were born in/after 1980. So physically, I could have a "grown child". *Gulp* Oh well, runing after my 4.5 yo makes me feel young! ;)

And I do remember the 70's well!! Makes me laugh when I see kids in tie dyed tshirts & platform shoes! *LOL* They was a reason they went "out" so fast! They're ugly!!!!

The girl at Fuddruckers gave me the Senior Discount the other evening. It was only when I went to get a refund on the coffee (there was none made) & I noticed she gave me less than I was charged for it. When I questioned her, she said she gave me the senior discount for the entire order! Yikes - I wonder what age a "senior" is according to them. I just turned 50 & don't think I look THAT old!

You know you're getting old when.....

You just can't dance the Charleston like you used to :(

OK, I'm *only* nineteen, but there are some things that make me feel relatively old, like everytime I notice my baby sister is my height, and when my campers, younger cousins, and kids I babysit don't know what "Fraggle Rock" or "Saved by the Bell" is!!

Hey! I remember Steve Martin doing that on SNL!

I, too graduated in 1980 Kimberle....I have an 18 year old, a 9 year old and a 6 year old.
I feel very old with my gray/auburn hair!

But, at least I can take some comfort in one thing...
Yesterday at work a client asked me if I was the doctors daughter. I said, "Me?", "No, his daughter is only 3." I am 7 years older than the doctor I work for.....BLESS HER HEART!!!

A co worker of mine is 44, she has a 9 year old and a 5 year old.
When she takes them out shopping or to the library, someone always asks her kids if they are having fun with ...... GRANDMA!!!

What a killer!!!

I have a 31 yr old son, my youngest is 23, I have grandchildren, contemplating retirement and have to get up in the middle of the night- Thats old:earsboy:

I'm 31 years old, which really isn't old at all, right?!? ::yes::

Kids I used to babysit for when I was in Jr high for the most part are grown up. I've even attended one of their weddings.
The real kicker for me was when my Mom told me that one girl I used to watch is a CHIEF RESIDENT at a pediatric hospital!

Ok - I'm ready for my does of Geritol! :p

I'm only 22, but I get made to feel old too, in a relative sense! I've been asked before if I have kids or if a child I happen to be talking to is my own....and I think to myself- me?? old enough to have kids?? Well, ok, there are 22 yr olds with kids, but it's a tough idea to get used to.

What really made me feel old was earlier this year when I was in Fiddler on the Roof and I'd hang out with the middle schoolers in the show...and discovered these kids had never heard of Rainbow Brite or My Little Ponies or other 80s icons I grew up with. Or watching The Little Mermaid sequel with a 10 yr old and realizing she wasn't even born yet when the original came out!
