he just took you to your 10th (?) Beach Boys Concert and he's not even really a fan!

Mike Love and Bruce Johnston played at the Tennessee Theater tonight in Knoxville. I can only think of one other song that I would have liked them to sing. They played for about 2 hours and 15 mins. Pretty good for such old fellows!

They sung a beautiful song called "Bluebirds Over the Mountain" and dedicated to Nancy Reagan for her love and care of President Ronald Reagan during his battle with Alzheimer's. The Reagan's had the Beach boys play for the second inaugruation.
For such old guys, they sounded great on a song done accapello (sp?). The theater has very good acoustics.

Dh does a lot of things just because he knows how happy they make me and taking me to see the Beach Boys (at 60.+ $ a ticket  ) is definitely a high one on my list. I love him for each and every concert. :lovestruc

So, name something your DH does for you just because it makes you happy!:cool1:

I am shocked into silence. My husband took me to a Beach Boys concert 10 yrs. ago, and he hates them. It was the BEST concert I ever attended and they played for over 3 hours!

Kind of weird to see a post here that I could have posted.

Really?! Wow. That's ironic and weird!

I went to my first BB concert when I was 13. That was 30 years ago as I am now 43! DH drove me to Nashville for them once and then drove home afterward and we worked the next day!

They put on a great show and have so many songs to sing! I guess they've been doing concerts for 50 years! Can you imagine?! I know they have made my life happier with their music. :) Fun, fun (fun ;) ) songs!

One touching moment after the concert was when we were leaving and this little girl (about 7) turned to her "papaw" and said, "Thank you for a great time, papaw!" God, that warmed my heart. I love seeing old people, young people and generations there!

I'm the same way about Rob Thomas.

My DH just spent two days preparing graphics for an entry into a contest for Rob Thomas/Chris Daughtry tickets for me.

Unfortunately, I didn't win.

That's neat. :goodvibes

We were the opposite. DH was more of a fan than I was, but I went along with him (and in the process became a fan myself). We saw them many times over the years, once from the front row sitting on garbage bags in the pouring rain :umbrella: and on a special night in the 90s, Brian was there during his comeback. :thumbsup2

He has the patience of a saint when it comes to my photography. We've gone into the city just so I could take night shots under a bridge :rolleyes1 (of course, I had to buy him dinner, LOL) and even just walking through the woods or on the beach I stop every few feet to get pictures. He never complains.

Awwwww, that was too sweet!

We went on a whim (my whim, lol) and The BB is my father's favorite group too. When they were singing "Barbara Ann", I videotaped it for my Dad. My whole childhood was peppered with "Barbara Ann" by the pool.

I really need to take my Dad to a BB concert one day, I still rave about it till this day.:)

RRR, I am sorry you did not win. But how sweet of your DH to try!

Pea-and-me, I would also be one to sit out in the rain to see them. :) How nice of you to go for your DH. They are so much fun it is hard not to enjoy it and be a fan!
We had front row tickets once (back when DD was 6). It was awesome. Tonight was row 7. I could see their wrinkles and age spots--when I put my glasses on! geez..I'm aging along with them! ;) I saw one concert with Brian Wilson also. I think he is a musical genius. Too bad he has had such a rough time in life.

How nice of your DH to be so patient. My DH doesn't have a lot of patience so he'd probably rather take me to see BB concerts! LOL

EpcotBeauty, you should go before it is too late!! Yikes! There were a lot of older men and women there having a blast. In a few years, that's what someone will be saying about me! ;)

When you are 9 months Pregnant, and filled with water (swollen) and he rubs your feet until you fall asleep.

When you are 9 months pregnant, and he leaves the house to find you a birthday cake - not because it’s your birthday or anyone else’s, but because that is what you are craving.

When he gets an extra job just so you can stay home a few months longer with your newborn baby.

Aww... he certainly does love you. Those are very sweet things for him to do. Congrats of your baby too. When is your due date? Or maybe this is what he did when you were pregnant? Either way, he's a keeper!!!

You know your DH loves you when .....

he goes to FOUR stores to find printer ink cartridges for you because you need to print out photos for the 5th Grade Halloween door for your son's class! He did this on his way home from working an 11 hour day. :lovestruc

You know your DH loves you when he has to resign from his job that he actually enjoys because you are having a back fusion and are unable to take care of yourself or of your kids. My DH has been taking care of me and let me tell you when I first came home it was like my DH had a baby to take care of I could not do anything and I mean anything including taking care of my own personal bathroom needs. (Talk about an embarassing spot to be in.) My DH has been doing all the housework, taking care of me and our 7 and 10 yr old DS's, and our 2 dogs. He has been so wonderful. I would have had to go to a rehabilitation center and stayed for a while if he hadn't done this for me. Now that I am a little more mobile he still hovers over me, it is so sweet how much he takes care of me.

KatyBelle,
Yes, I agree...a man going to 4 stores is quite something, period! ;) I imagine he was so tired and to go on a "product search" is something else!

chattyann,
I think your DH will win the prize and others DH's who have had to do the same!! That is a definite show of love. I have watched several of my female clients get old and unable to take care of themselves and their DH's really shine in those situations. I'll never forget the love Ralph showed for Connie--it truly touched my heart.
I hope you continue to heal!

 I know what you are talking about. DH doesn't care for country music yet he took me and youngest DD this summer to see Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift. Although he had to admit he had a great time watching Rascal Flatts. They put on an awesome show!!

My DH takes me to WDW! :lovestruc He's not a fan, but he's a great sport about this addiciton of mine!

When he takes you to WDW multiple times a year and doesn't like Disney World himself.

I can relate....my DH took me to a BARRY MANILOW concert!!!!! :rotfl: :lovestruc

You know your DH loves you when...

he moves from Italy to the US to marry me. Even when he doesn't know ANY english. Eight years later we are still happy and living in the woods of Maine with our 3 beautiful boys. His english is awesome now too!!

Mine does this too. :lovestruc However, he is falling in love with it more and more. We even bought DVC! Over the years it has been interesting to hear him tell someone why a WDW vacation is so much fun. (Ohans'a bread pudding helps too. ;) )

When he takes you to WDW multiple times a year and doesn't like Disney World himself.

I can't say that he never disliked WDW. He just was not a vacationer and I think he thought we'd do a trek to WDW for DD. That was his 2nd trip there and we've been back multiple times per year since! Having the Goofy Challenge every January certainly helps assure me that I'll be going!

I can relate....my DH took me to a BARRY MANILOW concert!!!!! :rotfl: :lovestruc

I learned last night that Bruce johnston of the Beach Boys wrote the song, "I Write the Songs" for Barry Manilow! I happen to think your DH was a very good sport to take you to see Barry manilow. ;) :goodvibes
