You know you grew up in the 80's and 90's if....

Oh Ghostwriter - I had forgotten about that! We loved that show!

My brother and I were reminiscing about shows during Christmas dinner... So what about Today's Special? The one with the mannequin that would come alive - I think his name was Jeff?

My brother (born after me in 1984) loved the Elephant Show! I liked Just You and Me Kid - it came on in the mornings.

We were having a debate about Pinwheel - you know the song "Pinwheel, pinwheel, watch it spin round" Was it it's own show or part of a show?
Also - Bill Crosby and the Doodlewriter - with the squeaky sound it made!

Man... memories... :lmao:

Part of the show with the same name on Nickelodeon. I think it started at 9 a.m. and didn't end until 2 pm when Today's Special started.

belle-

This will make you feel un-old: I graduated in 1991 so I'm old enough to be your mother! And that list was hilarious! Except, what was the MASH game?

*phew* i feel young again...THANKS!!

the MASH game is Mansion Apartment Shack House. You play it with a friend. Its a "prediction" game you find out what your job is going to be, who you'll marry, what car youll drive...things like that. You get 2 bad answers and 2 good answers that you pick for each catagory. When youre done, you make lines till your partner says stop and count and then you count off each till your left with one in each catagory. And then you read it. As of my last one that I just found "I live in mansion, married to leo dicaprio:love:, drive a convertible, and A GARBAGE WOMAN!!!:lmao: " It was a quickie one we did it in HR in 7th grade
:ssst: the teacher doesnt know!!

Remember Transformers? "More than meets the eeeeyyyyeee..."

Both my younger brothers collected these things, and of course I played with them too.

So I was so happy when I saw that they were making them again when DS was younger. He likes to play with them too, but boy are they junky! The ones from "ago" (ya know - waaaay back in the 80s) were well-made and durable. These new ones are just cheap, thin plastic. Yeah, yeah, I know the old ones were plastic too, but it was *better* plastic!

38. You ever got seriously injured on a
Slip and Slide.

Seriously, who designed the Slip and Slide?!? I remember setting them up and getting so excited and tearing my knees up on the grass after flying off of the end and then having a huge mud puddle to slide into after going down it a few times. I love the 80's.

I also hated when Slater and Kelly would hook up. Zach and Kelly forever! And I could not stand when Tori came on the show. But didn't she have the hot cousin/brother that wanted Lisa? He was hot. But my all time favorite episode is when Jessie was hooked on caffeine pills "I'm so excited! I'm so excited! I'm so scared!" :rotfl:

"Put your mind to it, go for it,
Get down and break a sweat.
Rock and roll, you ain't seen nothing yet.
Mind to it, go for it,
Get down and break a sweat,
Rock and roll, you ain't seen nothin' yet." -Kelly, Lisa, and Jessie as Hot Sundae!!!

Ok, I'm an 80's nerd. :rolleyes1

Oh and my favorite show of the 90's (besides 90210) was Wishbone! Anyone remember that show? I loved it. :cloud9:

i remember
duck hunt and super mario bro for nintendo
cabbage patch mania
socks with pumps
big hair bows
" you can't do that on televsion " on nick
double dare
van halen being big with "jump"
my lil ponies
val talk " like gag me with a spoon"
madonna like a virgin vinyl record
cassette tapes and walkman or big boom boxes
vhs was big
the pop rock myth

yes, yes yes to most of these! my very first crush was on one of the teenage mutant ninja turtles. It was Donatello. I was five

I too had a crush on Donatello b/c my favorite color was purple. Don't remember how old I was then.

Nellas Elensar

/
Remember Rainbow Brite and the Sprites? I had a Sprite; I think it was green.

Nellas Elensar

I remember when I was younger, I was a big Miami Dolphins fan and had a serious crush on Dan Marino. He was "hot" back then.

Nellas Elensar

I had a Rainbow Brite Sprite that was green, too! Her name was Patty O'Green, but in my family they called her "Patio furniture". I don't remember any Disney shows from my childhood, I never got to watch it because it was a pay channel, like HBO. Anyone else remember that?

...you've ever dialed 867-5309 and asked for Jennie.....:rolleyes1

LOL!!

4. Girls wore biker shorts under their
skirts and felt stylishly sexy.
-I remember specifically an outfit I'd wear to the mall. Black tee, short, floral "twirly" skirt, black bicycle shorts and cowboy boots. Oh, yeah. I thought I looked good.

5. You yearned to be a member of the
Baby-sitters club and tried to start a club of your own.
-I had a bunch of the books.

7. You know that "WOAH" comes from Joey
on Blossom
-I used to be able to say it exactly like him.

13. You wore a ponytail on the side of
your head.
-I believe there's a family picture with me sporting that particular do.

14. You saw the original Teenage Mutant
Ninja Turtles on the big screen..and still know the turtles names.
-Raph is still my favorite!

16. You made your mom buy one of those
clips that would hold your shirt in a knot on the side.
-I had several in neon colors.

27. You took lunch boxes to school...
-I still have my Care Bear lunchbox around somewhere.

OMG, yes!! I've actually gone on Youtube and watched those scenes. I crack up every time. Priceless! :rotfl:

Man... memories... :lmao:

You watched A LOT of Nickelodeon back in the day (and so did I apparently. lol). Remember David the Gnome, Maya the Bee and Hey Dude?

Although I did not have a mullet or wear side pony tails (my grandma thought they were stupid so I wore regular pony tails) most of these apply to me being born in 1985.

You know who said "Relax, Relate, Release"!!!!!!!!

Shot through the heart
And you're to blame
Darlin' you give luvvvvv
A bad name!

Ok first off--Love the list--It brings back fond memories!

I still have some of my Grabage Pail Kids!! And I still have my popple too!!!

I don't know if this was an all over the country thing, but in the late 80's Cavaricci pants were THE thing everyone had to have.

Oh, and can't forget hypercolor shirts

See you said Cavaricci---All the cool people knew them as Z Cavariccis--and bought the suits not just the pants;)

WOW. I had pink and black LA Gears and I even had 2 sets of shoelaces in each - a pink and a black - and of course, I wore 2 colors of socks to go with them :lmao:

But did you alternate them?? The socks that is. We wore them Punky style(those who got the OP know exactly what I'm talking about)

Oh, I'm gonna cry...you didn't know LARRY BIRD was a BASKETBALL PLAYER???? No? That the Celtics were the most amazing team in the WORLD back in the 80's, when it was Dennis Johnson, Robert Parrish, Danny Ainge, Kevin Kite, Kevin McHale, and LARRY????

(i feel really old)

I guess this should be on the "growing up in the 70's and EARLY 80's" thread.

No I knew who you were talking about--it's all good:thumbsup2 But then I grew up in Mass and we live and breathe our teams!

OMG...almost everyone applied to me- except for the mullet. I graduated from high school in 1992.

I was just looking through my h.s. yearbook and- our hair was ugly!!! :lmao:

I remember listening to O.M.D. (anyone remember them?)

I ALWAYS tight rolled my Z Cavarricci's!

Did you mean M.O.D.??--Tried really hard to think of a group called O.M.D. and drew a blank--But I did listen to a lot of M.O.D. and Anthrax.

We were also fond of Roach Killers(this is not a band-those who knew then, know now)

Collecting every single saying keychain that we could find and carrying them all around at the same time.

Having the backs of our jean jackets airbrushed with band logos(GNR-Bon Jovi)

I think I need to stop for a little bit--I have embarassed myself enuff(tuff enuff) as it is...(NKOTB RULES)
