That's funny. I never knew it was local. I still tap mac. I didn't even know there weren't mac machines anymore. I also drink Wooder. My mother used to send my ds tastycakes to Chicago. Now she can get them.

Do they sell them somewhere in Chicago?! If so...there will be one very happy man in the windy city tonight!

when the local convenience store is a wawa, not a 7-11. when someone from the west coast comes to town and we go to a local wawa they are amazed that there's a store actually named this! i thought tiny giant was odd in VA but wawa takes the cake

We used to call them the Shazam. That's a network that's still in use today. Now we just call it the ATM.

I really like to tease a friend of our who just moved here from Texas. He calls it "soda water". That's a new one on me. I thought they called it "Coke" down there no matter the brand. Here it's called "pop" or "soda" is accecptable.

BTW, a "MAC machine" is an ATM. In Philly they were called MAC by PSFS... a long gone bank. Money Access Center

As has already been established, we had MAC machines in the Pittsburgh area too. The funniest one to me is when local people say "gum bands" for rubber bands. I refuse to adopt that saying!

Well, here in NY I say "on line" when I mean "in line" (as in "I stood in line at the ATM"). I never knew it was wrong until a friend (from a Philly suburb) laughed at me for saying that. And he's the one who told me about Wawa. I laughed at that!

You used to be able to say "I'm goin downa shore" and everyone knew it meant North Wildwood.

Count me in as a MAC tapper. I can't even remember when they changed from MAC to ATM, but to me they will always be MAC machines.

And REAL Philly natives know you can't get a real cheesesteak from Pat's or Geno's....those places are where the tourists go

Makes sense... MAC was a term started my Mellon ( or waht was Mellon ) and Philadelphia Savings Fund Society... which, I think was bought out by Mellon.

Recently moved from just north of Boston to Delware - wow do I say some funny things.

Off hand, yes tkerbell a shopping cart was a carrage in MA. I also use tonic for all types of soda or pop! I am sure I will think of more.

I moved from South Jersey to NC over 20 years ago and still drink wooder. So does DD16, who's lived in NC all her life. We didn't know until today that we were supposed to be drinking water. She says, "No wonder everyone thinks I talk funny."

I love our visits back home. First, we have cheesesteaks. Some are mushroom wit fried onions. Then, it's a panzarotti. Next, it's a Wawa hoagie. The tastykakes and Herrs potato chips go with each meal.
