You know, it really pays to be nice to people!

Ive talked about being nice to the Butcher and the great deals that gets me, same with the health food dept manager ( get great samples that way lol) and the bakery manager and I are getting to be friends too.



Well today I called a restaurant next door to the hotel Im taking dh to for his Birthday next week, we struck up a conversation and I told her what I was doing. I asked if she could make up a nice fruit and cheese plate and some champagne and have it waiting for us when we got there, not only did she agree, she told me would personally handle everything and to call her the day before so we could finalize it all. She was so nice! She went way above and beyond for me and I cant wait to get there and see what shes done ! She said she had some ideas for it too and not to worry that it would be wonderful

What goes around comes around, eventually. I try to make sure I live my life in such a way that it isn't meanness that comes my way.

Weird. I was just reading the "it pays to complain" thread. My point was pretty much the same as yours... it pays to be nice. I can't think of how I've been rewarded for being nice, but I can tell you that I give nice people free services and special treatment several times a day. So many people are rude to us at work (and ruin our entire day) that I am SO appreciative of nice people. And... the more it is rewarded, the more people will be nice. The same is true for rudeness, which is why I punish those people. I don't want their business anyway; it's not worth the stress.

rude people used to bother me too untili adopted a new slogan: "the only person who can make you mad is you." i am not always able to live up to this standard, but it makes my life a lot less stressful. if people are rude, it's their problem, not mine.
