I'm thinking about joining sparedollar sometime this weekend or early next week.

I think they give out credits for referrals? Not sure how it works or if it works with the 30 day free trial. But if anyone wants to get the credit for me signing up, just drop me a PM with instructions on how to get you the credit.

It would be nice to give someone the benefit, if I can. Otherwise, I'll just register through the website on my own.

Thanks.

Nice of you to offer that, Grace! I just PM'd you.

Thanks,
Joy

Aw shucks, you beat me!

Seriously - I believe the referral is one free month (?) per referral. They can actually refer you if they click on the link that will appear in your auctions. Otherwise, there is a logo or text that you can put in e-mails (such as your notices to your buyers I believe), etc.

Is anyone else having the same problem as I seem to be having this week? People do NOT read! I state that I don't accept debit or credit cards in paypal in each of my auctions. When a person emails me or fills out the payment form and asks for my paypal address, I again state that it cannot be a debit or credit card. Then people repeatedly pay with their credit card! I am frustrated!

Unfortunetly no matter how much state it buyers will still ignore it. I have the same problem. It seems to me that some buyers do not read the payment terms. And some do but ignore them assuming that you will accept whatever payment they choose.

I tried to revise my sparedollar auction to put in the post office thingy that tells how much an item will be to ship (cause I didn't see it when I actually listed the item)..but I don't see where. Can someone point me in the right direction if it's possible?
Thanks!

Doris

I checked on sparedollar.com and I believe you can only edit via E-Bay directlt.

Also, I got 2 priority mail packages back stating that anything over 1 lb has to be presented to the post office clerk due to heighted security. I gave them to the mail truck outside of my office. It is the mobile mail truck that takes care of all the mailings for people since we no longer have a nearby post office due to 9/11 attack.

Now I have to carry all of these boxes to blockes away to get them shipped!!! Is it only NYC or everywhere?

The over one pound thing is everywhere. If I remember right it is listed as being anything "with stamps" so far I have only mailed metered mail that is over 1 pound at the drop box and have not have anything returned.

I can't find it in the ebay direct either..I'llgo back and look again.

Here is what is on the PO site about shipping packages:

Note: All stamped items weighing 16 ounces or more must be presented in person at a local Post Office for acceptance in accordance with Federal Aviation Agency requirements.

I meant that you need to revise it on E-bay directly under your listing. I think somewhere on sparedollar.com that says that you can't edit and then get linked to E-bay.

I always ship my stuff via priority mail and always have stamps on them because the guy at the mail truck only has the stamps, he has no metered machines. But this is the first time I got the package returned.

After you initiate the revision process, go down past the links to edit the title, description, etc., and you'll find a link to edit the payment & shipping info. Then when you get near your shipping, there is a link for the calculator.

Thanks for asking - I was meaning to find out about that myself. I've never used the shipping calculator, but might on some heavier items.

I found where to revise. It's going to take me forever to switch 300 regular auctions over to sparedollar..anyone like near Albany, NY and want a job LOL..slow going. Of course with all that snow, who would want to come to my house!
I wish they had more templates..I think their color scemes are too "girly".

I am SOOOOOOOO tired! I've been going through boxes and boxes and boxes of stuff in our big spare bedroom and there is SOOOOOOOO much stuff that I "could" list..

My fees are already sky-high this month though and I'm wondering if there's any point to listing stuff (for Christmas) this late in the game.. Any opinions?

And if you ARE listing tomorrow, are you listing stuff people would buy for C'mas gifts or other stuff?

If I do decide to list, I think I'm going to calculate everything as Priority Mail.. What is everyone else doing?

how do you switch e-bay listing to sparedollar? Did you find a place on Sparedollar to revise or do you have to go to E-Bay? I would love to be able to edit and get carried over to E-bay. But their "launch"button scares me. Last time I hit it, I launched another auction.

Check out this spot from the SD Community Forum:
Custom Template Sharing Thread
I've only gotten through the first page of the thread, but there are some really nice ones being shared.

I really like their Christmas motif, and I prefer style #8, with the nice BIG photos right in there. For non-Christmas styles, I like Gunmetal - its clean and sharp, IMO. But I'm not crazy about some of their color schemes... almost looks too retro '50s.

I guess that's why there are 30 pages in the Custom Template Thread! ;) LOL

Have fun!

I don't think you can edit anywhere but within ebay after a listing is already started... I did it in ebay when I had issues with my pics (don't ask, I made such a mess that it would take pages to explain, and I know I'm already long-winded!), even though the pics were hosted by Sparedollar.

I think you are correct and that if you tried to edit in SD and re-launched, you would have a second listing on the same item. In fact, I know that is true because I have 4 of one item, and I edited and rescheduled future launches in 2 to 3 hour intervals to place it in multiple categories, but not double my fees. Don't know if that was very clear... sorry!

C.Ann, I don't know if my opinion is worth anything, as I am doing pretty lousy now! Much of the bargain stuff from the Disney outlets are just sitting there. But, I am going to relist all the stuff that didn't sell yesterday as five-day auctions starting tonight, so they end Thursday. Then anything that doesn't sell tomorrow is going back up for a 7-day.

I think your idea of pricing shipping at Priority Mail rates is a good one - I think I'll do that too!

If I may vent....yes, again... I listed a stupid reindeer keychain that poops out little brown candies, that I bought for 25 cents and has a bid on it, and all the really nice Disney Ornaments barely have hits! What is up with bidders?

Well, at least the ornaments can go on my tree if they don't sell by next Sunday. And I've met my whining quota for this year and promise to stop!

I started listing everything assuming priority mail shipping last week. My reasoning was that by the time an auction ended and a money order reached me, it would be mid this week and priority shipping would be the only way the PO would guarantee shipment by Christmas. I also offered the BIN option on almost all of my auctions and have had some luck with that. So I think people are anxious to begin receiving their items now that Christmas is three weeks away.

We've been using BIN with pretty decent sucesss... with that and 1cent gallery we did well the past few days. ONe instance within 5 minutes of the auction listing we had 2 BIN's! And we've been listing daily in 15 minute increments the next few days. Our items are pretty small, and all that.

We've been sending mostly everything priority. If there is a difference of 25 cents or less, we send it priority. We've been using stamps.com and they charge the 13 cents when my local PO (non priority ) didn't. (There was a discussion one day when I was there to charge me or not non priority electronic option and they all decided not to charge me.. this was a decision with all four people working there. I didn;t ask for it.. Honestly I think the employees don't know how to use the new computer software so they don't do it)

We've been sending everyday.

how do you switch e-bay listing to sparedollar? Did you find a place on Sparedollar to revise or do you have to go to E-Bay?

You can't. I'm opening my auctions as they end and planned on copying and pasting them into Sparedollar. Now iI'm not so sure. I had an item end with in a small amount of time and planned on relisting. Because I didn't "save" the auciton, but just put it up on Sparedollar, I didn't have it anymore to relist. I had to redo it. Very discouraging. I have to admit, that I pay tons of money to Vendio, but I still prefer it...it does a lot of my work for me. I guess my time is too precious right now to have to do stuff by hand, that Vendio did for me. Sparedollar seems to have stuff working ok one minute, then not the next. Vendio keeps all my autions, I can tell at a glance which has sold, etc. SD makes me jump through too many hoops. It's been very frustrating. Reading their community board, I wonder if anyone is happy with them. I have 300 different items I sell over and over..and I can't believe how disorganized I'm feeling in sd tonight.
I did get someone join through my auctions, and got next month free because of it.

I have some large kids toys that I just sold, and I will be shipping them via FedEx. My question is, do they include insurance up to the first $50 like UPS does?
